Still MORE From The Ethics Alarms” Res Ipsa Loquitur” Files: That “Whistleblower” Complaint

Nnnnope. not this either.

Here’s all you have to read, in my view:

In the course of my official duties, I have received information from multiple U.S. Government officials that the President of the United States is using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election. This interference includes, among other things, pressuring a foreign country to investigate one of the President’s main domestic political rival ls. The President’s personal lawyer, Mr. Rudolph Giuliani, is a central figure in this effort. Attorney General Barr appears to be involved as well.

  • Over the past four months, more than half a dozen S. officials have informed me of various facts related to this effort. The information provided herein was relayed to me in the course of official interagency business. It is routine for U.S. officials with responsibility for a particular regional or functional portfolio to share such information with one another in order to inform policymaking and analysis.
  • I was not a direct witness to most of the events described. However, I found  my colleagues’ accounts of these events to be credible because, in almost all cases, multiple officials recounted fact patterns that were consistent with one another. In  addition,  a variety of information consistent with these private accounts has been reported.

Amazing.

This is hearsay, and not even an exception to hearsay.  It wouldn’t be admissible as evidence in a trial, but the Democrats are going to use it to justify an impeachment inquiry.

The whistleblower has heard stuff from un-named sources. I’m not sure why the Inspector General would regard a document like this as worth investigating, but maybe he has a light workload or something. Since the whistleblower has no first-hand evidence of anything, he shouldn’t be blowing whistles. The fact that he is suggests personal or political motives.

Read the whole thing here.

One of Althouse’s commenters writes, “I think this summary is accurate: “I heard some people say some stuff that, if given the worst possible interpretation, shows behavior by Trump that is arguably an abuse of power.”

That is exactly right.

  1. Does this even rise to the level of scuttlebutt? Grousing around the watercooler by the peons about the higher-ups? A guy objects to how the president is conducting foreign policy? Bizarre.

    • Not bizarre. One among a litany of these items that have already been brought forth and are waiting to be rolled out one after the other as propaganda to convince the slimmest of margins of the electorate he deserves to be impeached or be defeated in his race for re-election. Why? Because they are desperate to cover their own misdeeds and undo the Constitution. Note the complete lack of attention to Biden’s duplicity. These people make me sick.

      • The media have a standard line they insert saying there is no proof Joe Biden did anything wrong. I even saw the inestimable Lanny Davis has penned a piece denying Joe did anything wrong. (Which is pretty damning on itself.) Lanny crawling out from under his rock means the Clintons are involved in this caper.

    • Michael Ejercito,
No, it probably is not probable cause.
But, I look at this more like a police report.
Someone comes in and says that they think a crime was committed. The police go out and investigate, and then a complaint might get filed.

Having said that, things won’t go very far if names aren’t named pretty quickly. You can proceed with an investigation based on hearsay, but, if you don’t get to the source, you are not going anywhere.

Am I right that we do not know who this whistleblower is?

  2. ” if given the worst possible interpretation”

This. The President is never given the benefit of the doubt on anything. Some of this he brings upon himself. But everything he says or does is given the worst possible interpretation.

  3. I find myself concerned that I have developed a bias and because of it I cannot see the current Democratic party and much of the media as anything other than corrupt and completely dishonest. I now look at any criticism of the President looking for where they are lying or misrepresenting facts and I always seem to find it. How can they accuse this President of malfeasance without clear proof but with debatable actions on his part and not be worked up over the far more substantive case of VP and his son.

I guess I don’t understand politics or society anymore,

  4. Is this the new narrative? I have been busy cutting my toenails and missed the various versions: “Even if you support trump 100% I think anyone asking a foreign government for dirt on a political opponent should give us all pause.”

  5. In my opinion; this whistleblower complaint seems to have all the hallmarks of a well planned anti-Trump witch hunt right down to the whistleblower criteria being changed to allow complaints without first-hand information.

I expect more attacks on Trump as we move towards the election.

The Democrats are driving in division the wedge in deep.

    • I don’t know anything about whistle blower stuff but this incident smells fishy. From what I am reading, the form was amended/changed to comply with federal law so that it doesn’t have to based on personal knowledge (which is probably right), but the timing sure is suspect. Additionally, there is credible evidence that the actual complaint was written, edited, and modified by intelligence agency personnel and not based solely on the whistleblower’s observations or knowledge – are we in Denmark? Also, the complaint alleges Trump leaned on Ukraine officials to provide evidence on Biden when Biden has been running around for 2 years bloviating (blustering?) about how he strong-armed Ukraine with a ton of withheld foreign aid if they didn’t fire a prosecutor investigating his son and his son’s business dealings with a Ukraine company. Then, Trump released the summary-transcript of the conversation and there is no smoking gun in it, but Biden did (see, above). Then, there is that whole Russia-Ukraine collusion debacle resulting in nothing but shedding light on Democrat operatives paying for dirt on Trump in 2016 in the Steele Dossier.

The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

And, a propos of absolutely nothing, but I need to vent, so here goes:

I have had to replace TWO brand new tires on a new car in less than 3 days. WHY?! Can someone please explain how and whom I have offended? Sheesh. I hate that car. I wish it to suffer a total insurance loss so that I can buy something else.

      • First, I think you are right and can not for the life of me figure out why we would suspect a frame up regarding this President.

Second, have you heard of AAA and a road hazard warranty? Sure, still takes time out of my day, but I don’t buy the tire as well.

        • “Second, have you heard of AAA and a road hazard warranty? Sure, still takes time out of my day, but I don’t buy the tire as well.”

Sure. I have AAA. But, that does not answer my questions: why, whom and how have I offended the gods of automobile maintenance? I just bought the damn thing in August and this past Saturday, the left rear tire exploded, causing me to stop, look at it, and step in a fire ant mound, allowing me to enjoy God-awful welts on my legs. This morning, taking The Boy to 5:30 swim practice, the right front tire desired to test the 17th Law of Physics: When, in the course of driving, one comes in contact with a sharp cylinder used in construction projects, the rubber will give way allowing the metal post to pierce through the tire surface and allow the pressurized air inside to escape, usually in the most unpleasant and inconvenient place and time.”

The Gods of Automobile Maintenance can stuff it. I hate them.
