Wait…What’s The Problem? Isn’t Mayor Wu Just Following The Tactics And Principles Of Her Party?

I don’t understand. The Biden Administration has declared that opponents of his policies are threats to democracy. The current Justice Department has sought extreme and excessive punishment for the protesters and rioters at the Capitol in January of 2021 while ignoring the violent and disruptive acts of the George Floyd Freakout rioters and demonstrators. The Democratic Administration sought to intimidate parents who were critical of woke school boards seeking to inject sexual politics and CRT ideology into public school curricula. And yet when Boston’s mayor Michelle Wu admitted that her staff compiled a list of her most vocal critics and protesters to hand to local law enforcement authorities, the public, which in Boston is primarily Democratic and progressive, howled in outrage.

This is how their increasingly totalitarian party operates in 2023. This is what they voted for. What are they complaining about?

“The list was made in response to a request from the Boston Police Department after the Mayor had been harassed and physically intimidated by individuals for several months outside her home, at city functions such as the annual neighborhood parks coffee hours, and at other public events,” Wu’s mouthpiece said in response to the new critics, presumable before their names were placed on the list as well.

As reported by the Boston Herald, what passes for the city’s conservative newspaper, the Nixonian “enemies list” was emailed from Wu’s former Director of Constituent Services to Boston Police Capt. Robert Ciccolo and contains the names of “Wu’s most vocal opponents, such as [Boston City Council at-large candidate Catherine Vitale], several anti-vaccine activists who have been protesting Wu’s house, and North End restaurant owners who have opposed Wu policies.” It also lists such names as the “Mendoza Brothers from the North End” and “a woman with the last name of Thuy who was arrested before.” “The tactics used by the [Wu] administration raise concern over whether Wu and her administration are attempting to silence or intimidate her critics,” observes Fox News.

Gee, ya think????

I suppose Boston’s Democrats might be confused because their party fervently supports harassment of elected officials and even Supreme Court Justices as long as Democrats are doing the harassing and conservatives and Republicans are the targets. After all, leaders of the Democratic Party in Washington called for the public to harass members of the Trump Administration when they were with their families in public. Black Lives Matter employed the tactic of confronting white diners in upscale restaurants and demanding that they pronounce their support for the Marxist, racist—but progressive!—organization. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Shumer openly threatened Trump-appointed Supreme Court Justices that they would be in danger if they dared to reverse Roe v. Wade. The Justice Department allowed progressive activists to protest outside the Dobbs majority’s homes even though it was against the law.

But still…come on! The distinction is clear and reasonable. Boston Democrats are smart, not dummies like those Republican deplorables; they should be able to figure this out. It is a threat to democracy to protest the policies of Democratic officials, and it is a threat to democracy to allow Republicans and conservatives to do their evil deeds without being harassed.

I just can’t imagine what Boston’s Democrats are complaining about.

  1. Mayor Wu is a beacon of light in comparison to some of the City Council… The Herald can keep you up to date on that, as well.

  2. Apparently she isn’t far left enough for the more radical members of her party. She’s going to end up like Jacques Danton, removed because she dared to say so far but no farther.

    • Oh, she’s plenty far-left. She’s Elizabeth Warren’s protege, and dollars to donuts she’ll replace Warren in the Senate when Warren is done.
