Everyone knew, or should have know, that the progressive, woke, Democratic grandstanders who undermined U.S. sovereignty and the rule of law by announcing that their cities would not cooperate in the enforcement of immigration laws were irresponsible fool, indeed (sorry) destructive assholes all along. (Anyone who voted for such officials are also irresponsible assholes, just to get the accountability aligned,) Now, however, we know that they know they are assholes, and have to behave in a manner that exposes to all what assholes they are. This is great.

The utter hypocrisy of mayors and governors declaring their love for illegal immigrants as long as most of them arrived and stayed in cities along the Southern borders was exposed when governors of states overrun by what the news media calls “migrants” to hide their problematic and illegal features have sent busloads and plane-loads of the them to cities like New York City, Chicago and Washington, D.C. Suddenly, the “sanctuaries,” which were so compassionate and welcoming as long as there were few negative consequences of their facile lip-service were not so understanding.

Last week NYC Mayor Eric Adams complained that the influx of illegal immigrants would “destroy” his city. Awww—cue the world’s smallest violin! This is the official policy of his party. This is what his wokely blind city voted for. Eat it, jerk. Chew and swallow. I’ll watch. And cheer. In my old stomping grounds, Massachusetts, blindly woke residents are getting stomped by illegals too, so the state’s far-left governor Maura Healey declared a state of emergency last month, citing too many “migrants” (we know what they really are, Maura) seeking shelter at a time when the cost of housing, always high in the Bay State, is higher than ever. There is an 80% increase in border-jumpers coming to her “sanctuary state,” Healey said—gee, I wonder if that has anything to do with a Democratic administration that says the “border is secure” meaning “it’s wide open, everybody! The more the merrier!”—adding, “It’s exponentially more than our state has ever served in our emergency assistance program.These numbers are being driven by a surge in new arrivals in our country who have been through some of the hardest journeys imaginable.”

That last part deserves special mockery: Healy can’t bring herself to find the wrongdoers causing her crisis responsible. They’ve suffered so much in breaking our laws, poor things! Well, my former neighbors voted for her. They can, in the memorable words of Robert Duvall in “Jack Reacher,” “Suck it.”

I suppose we should give the clueless Marxist Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson credit for integrity, if stupid integrity. “We don’t want our story to be told that we were unable to house the unhoused or provide safe harbor for those who are seeking refuge here,” he said last month. “Because there’s enough room for everyone in the city of Chicago, whether you are seeking asylum or you are looking for a fully funded neighborhood.” We’ll see how long he maintains that “it isn’t what it is” line, because his city is revolting, and I mean that both ways.

Alderman Ray Lopez of Chicago’s Ward 15 joined with other aldermen in a letter calling on Mayor Johnson to address the “ongoing migrant shelter/center issues.” Lopez said his constituents are sick of illegals engaging in “drug sales and usage, male and female prostitution and associated human trafficking as well as gang recruitment” while “joyfully ignoring curfew and alcohol consumption rules in shelters.” Alderman (aalderwoman?) Jeanette Taylor of Chicago’s 20th Ward said that Mayor Johnson’s aides were avoiding candor regarding what being a “sanctuary” was doing to the city. “Tell the issue about the people who are outside threatening [residents]. Tell them about the sex trafficking that’s happening. The drug dealing that’s happening,” she said. “They’re outside smoking weed. They’re outside having whole parties right in front of the senior building. And the police are scared. “

Hahahahahahahahahahaha! GOOD! Chicago asked for it.

The latest target of mirth and schadenfreude should be L.A. Mayor Karen Bass. When running for the office last year, in the process of pandering to Hispanic voters, she said, “Los Angeles is and should remain a Sanctuary City and the LAPD should not be burdened with the federal government’s responsibility to enforce immigration law. I do not support an ICE presence in local and state correctional facilities, nor do I support ICE transfers, absent a judicial warrant.” Last week though Bass said, “We live in a city that welcomes immigrants, and so I think we have been able to handle it, but I am fearful that any day, planes could start coming.” Those would be planes full of illegal immigrants, which is what sanctuary cities purportedly are sanctuary cities to encourage. Why would the mayor be fearful? Well, she’s fearful because she’s being blown up by her own bomb, though Shakespeare said it more eloquently. Surely she doesn’t fear immigrants, as in legal immigrants.
