Now THAT’s anti-Semitism!
Since he asked: Why yes, Alan Garber who is the interim president of the Harvard until a permanent replacement for Claudine Gay is selected, holds Harvard professorships in health care policy, economics, and public policy. As the school Provost, he was the obvious choice to step in. Funny, it didn’t even occur to me that he is Jewish.
Youseff’s credentials are here.

Hey Dr. Youssef (and “mental ist” by extension),
1937 called, and Adolf Hitler thinks you’re perfect for his team.
HITLER’S SOLDIERS
If Hitler’s goal was to annihilate an entire race, how is it possible that there were thousands upon thousands of people of Jewish descent in Nazi Germany?
Is it historically and intellectually satisfying to maintain both contradictory positions at the same time and in the same respect?
Is it rationally sound to say that those Jewish people were simply dupes and simply didn’t know Hitler’s real intention?
Didn’t they know that their ultimate doom was concentration camps? What actually made them join the Third Reich?
Bryan Mark Rigg, Hitler’s Jewish Soldiers: The Untold Story of Nazi Racial Laws and Men of Jewish Descent in the German Military (Lawrence, KS: University Press of Kansas, 2002), 1.
In one of Harry Turtledove’s WWII alternate history series, I think it was “Hitler’s War: The War that Came Early” (where Hitler went to war in 1938 over Czechoslovakia), there is a Jewish WWI veteran who tries to enlist in the Wehrmacht but is turned down by the Nazis because he is Jewish.
Turtledove shows what may have been a typical German Jewish family in the 1930’s — patriotic and who certainly had no idea of the mass murders to come. In the book, this man’s son is dragooned into a work gang cleaning up after a bombing attack. He is harassed by the overseer and kills him. The son runs away and escapes. It later turns out that he obtains a fake id and joins the German Army — perhaps the last place police would look for a Jew on the run.
It is one of Turtledove’s trademarks to show ordinary people thrust into extraordinary situations and events, or to offer a twist on stereotypical situations.
Hey Doc, the Ayatollahs called too, they want to offer more money. Sorry, but the Muzzie Brotherhood is unable to make an offer, since their guy is in jail.
his resume and the number of letters after his name leads me in doubt. he seems to be ‘a jack of all trades but master of none.” alot of his work seems to be on the fringe of new agism.
The provost is the head of the academic wing of the university. When the presidency is vacant, the provost is usually promoted to interim president. If the provost isn’t promoted to the interim presidency, it usually means something unusual or rotten is going on.
Youssef coulda saved a lot of pixels by condensing his bio to Academic Charlatan Grifter

Before his appointment as *interim* president, Provost Garber was the CAO of Harvard, and again… Academia is full of argle-bargle procedures (because no one can make a relatively simple process overcomplicated quite like academics tend to), but I’m near positive that it would be normal for the provost to fill a temp vacancy like this, no?
Like I said previously, what was most important to these people wasn’t the person’s credentials, it was the ability to reinforce their power structure and replace their pick with another DEI candidate. Don’t get me wrong: I bear no illusion: The reality is that Garber probably has left of center politics, he’s in academia. But it’s symbolic, and if anyone understands the importance of symbolism, it’s the cult that makes their entire self-identity out of symbols.
Like I’ve said before: I’m not going to pretend to understand the intricacies of Academia. But it seems, from an outsider’s perspective: Considering experience and positions held (provost+++), the education attained (doctorate*s*), the papers authored (more than 50), and the books written (2), that Garber is probably more qualified for the position than Gay was. But even if temporary, this seems like a great way to bring the absolute lunacy of DEI politics front and center: How are they going to attack him?
Right now, there are 100 interns furiously combing through every line that Garber has wrote looking for plagiarism. if they don’t find any, then he has better credentials than Gay did. So they are going to have to resort to attacking his being white, being a man, or being a Jew.
None of those are a great look.
Absolutely. Since he has the audacity to replace Harvard’s *historic President, they will look for anything they can to discredit him like that old SNL skit back during the 1988 election that was more prescient than it knew with Al Franken springing a “gotcha” video of a Senator going through the supermarket express lane with more than ten items.
If they don’t find something ridiculously minor, it’ll be the straight white man whose religion represents colonial oppression (or something).
