That’s Henry Hanlon, apparently a male basketball player who “identifies” as female. Clearly, it’s good for his ego. (Can’t tell who I’m talking about in the photo? Guess!)
The San Francisco Waldorf high school girls basketball team is on a roll, thanks to its court domination by team captain Henry Hanlon. No, he doesn’t even bother to carry a female name. California’s Interscholastic Federation (CIF) established “Gender Identity Participation” rule in 2013, and it is bats.“All students should have the opportunity to participate in CIF athletics and/or activities in a manner that is consistent with their gender identity,” the policy states. As CIF’s Associate Executive Director Brian Seymour explains, “All of our athletes, all the eligible athletes, are afforded the opportunity to compete with the gender they feel most comfortable with.” Oh. I can see where a high school athlete might be “most comfortable” with a fanciful gender ID that allows him to feel like the Harlem Globetrotters playing against their eternal patsies, the Washington Generals.
Hanlon is a junior, and competes in girls basketball, volleyball and soccer. Last season, Hanlon led Waldorf to a CIF North Coast Championship in volleyball. In the girls’ basketball team’s 54-22 win last week, Hanlon scored a game-high 24 points, making four straight games in which he scored at least a third of Waldorf’s points.
One team forfeited a game against Waldorf this month because it felt female athletes risked injury playing a contact sport against a male and did not want its players to be forced to share locker room facilities with Henry. Obviously they are bigots and transphobic.
Henry can’t be faulted too much for yielding to the temptation to take advantage of a rule that is begging to be exploited. His parents, however, should have said, simply, “No,” and explained the important ethical principle that just because you can do something doesn’t make it fair, responsible and right to do it.
The situation with Henry, amazingly enough, has been going on for three years. It is unconscionable that the parents of the girls playing against him and with him haven’t pulled their daughters off the teams.
California is rapidly evolving—devolving may be more accurate—into some exotic alternate Bizarro World version of the U.S. where up is down, down is up, shoplifting is legal and it’s fair to let males play high school contact sports as girls. How did it get this way? Is there a cure beyond just leaving the state to turn into some kind of Hellscape occupied entirely by illegal immigrants, criminals and lunatics?
Wait, wasn’t there a movie about that?

Oh, why didn’t Superman mind his own business and let Lex Luthor sink the whole state into the ocean?
Now you’ve got me thinking about a Warren Zevon lyric:
And if California slides into the ocean
Like the mystics and statistics say it will…
I miss Warren. Victim of health negligence, as he admitted himself.
We may be past lawyers soon, and down to guns and money..
Why have gender identity segregated sports teams at all?
It makes as much sense as race-segregated sports teams.
So…woke culture, which thrives on beating down males and toxic masculinity, which lambastes the glass ceiling that was put in place by a power-driven patriarchy, is simultaneously getting pwned by men that have figured out how to get women to just let themselves be dominated by men all over again…and be totally ok with it.
Wow…that’s some pretty big stupid right there.
Agreed Joel.
The woke *matriarchy* is consciously allowing guys pretending to be girls to ruin sports for their daughters and sisters.
That is some seriously toxic devotion to an ideology that just ignores how important sports are developmentally for young people. This is common knowledge for anyone who has participated in organized sports. Sports matter, a lot.
Where are all the tough and fearless mama bears?
