Forget “Nah, There’s No Mainstream Media Bias!” The Proper Reaction Should Be “What the Hell Is the Matter With You Hacks?”

The furious wagon-circling by left-biased journalists (or “journalists,” for short) in response to the DOJ Special Counsel’s stunning “Look! The Emperor has no clothes!” declaration in his report is another smoking gun in the “controversy” over whether Donald Trump was as right as he has ever been to call the media “enemies of the people.” It might even be the smokiest gun of all—more damning than the news media’s blatant cheer-leading for Barack Obama’s candidacy and destructive Presidency, more damning than its Black Lives Matter pandering during the BLM riots and its fearmongering during the pandemic, even more damning, perhaps, than its successful efforts to hide the evidence of Hunter Biden’s laptop until Donald Trump was safely defeated.

Confirmation bias and willful blindness still have their limits. How can any American with two brain cells to rub together observe the shameless gaslighting compiled in the video above and not be offended, disgusted, and angry?

Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report found that President Biden’s willful retention and disclosure of classified materials was illegal and serious, but that prosecution would be futile since a sympathetic jury would be unlikely to convict him in light of his declining mental capacity. Nevertheless, multiple media reports claimed that Biden had been “exonerated,” an outright lie. CNN had the gall and disrespect for its viewers to claim the legitimate concern regarding Biden’s crashing mental fitness “reek[s] of ageism and come across as cruel.” The New York Times and NPR chose to try to hide the metaphorical pachyderm in the room by employing the hoary “Republicans pounce” device.

The indispensable conservative Washington Free Beacon reminds readers of the screaming double standard this stance represents:

“The press hasn’t always been so defensive about the mental well-being of a president. Shortly after Trump took office, the media rushed to find any psychiatrist or psychologist they could find to suggest his mental health was putting the world at risk. When Trump walked slowly down a ramp at West Point and lifted a water glass with two hands in June 2020, the press implied something was deeply wrong. CNN ominously warned at the time that the incident had “many speculating about whether he [Trump] was in ill health” because he “looks frail.”

Trump has never looked “frail,” as a New York Times column pointed out yesterday in “Why the Age Issue Is Hurting Biden So Much More Than Trump,” a question no one who is honest and paying attention should have to ask.

Most of the news media also reported as legitimate the risible excuse floated by Biden’s paid liars that Hur’s interviews with Biden took place right after the Hamas terrorism attack against Israel on October 7, so the President’s mind was too occupied by that international crisis to recall past events. This ploy cuts two ways, as it is a tacit admission that the President no longer can focus competently on multiple matters.

Doesn’t the media realize that it is slowly, indeed not so slowly, destroying its last vestiges of public trust by tying its integrity to the anchor of Biden’s mental capacity? Shouldn’t it be obvious to even the dimmest reporter that continuing to deny Biden is incapacitated undermines the news media’s power and influence, especially in the wake of Biden’s furious denial of Hur’s diagnosis ending with him confusing Eqypt with Mexico, just days after claiming to have conferred with former French President Mitterand, who has been dead for 27 years?

All of this should remind us that journalists, with notable exceptions, just aren’t very bright, and certainly not astute or wise enough to exercise the control over national policy and public opinion that they aspire to.

  1. I hate the term “gaslighting” because I think it is overused, but appears to be apt when it comes to Biden’s condition.

Of course, it may not apply to the Press because, in order to gaslight, you have to have an accurate understanding of the truth and, like you said, they aren’t very bright. But, the people on Biden’s staff? Even a dim bulb like K.J.P. must know what is going on–which is why she avoids questions about it.

And, yet, with no sense of irony, they still complain about Reagan’s mental health when his problems in office were far less pronounced.

  2. The majority of the fourth estate truly undermined itself and began heading down the wrong road while President Obama was in office, they had to protect Obama at all costs and it ruined the profession and turned themselves into a Pravda-USA lapdog state (read leftist) media.

Then in 2016 when Donald Trump came on to the scene and was elected President the political left and their lapdog media could have easily chosen to be the adults in the room but they chose to flush all their ethics and morals with their reactions to Trump’s intentional trolling of the political left and their absolute, and I do mean absolute, hate of the political right especially Trump. Even President Obama recognized the problem with the media and stated the following (in part) when he was asked about the relationship between the President and the press…

“The bigger challenge I think… is going to be what is happening inside the press itself. The dissolution of journalistic standards that we had all come to expect in mainstream media, a lot of that has crumbled. And so what you now have is a variety of very powerful news outlets that have no problem not just repeating falsehoods or misinformation but disseminate them themselves. And the lines have blurred now between propaganda and what we would consider journalism in a way that has been described as truth decay.

You’ve got an epistemological problem where people don’t know now entirely what’s true and what’s not. And the old authorities and curators of what is factual are greatly weakened. And that’s dangerous for our democracy… I think internally news organizations and all of us culturally are going to have to think about what to do about that.“

You can see the whole quote and a link to the video in the following blog post, Propaganda Is Destroying Trust In The Fourth Estate and Wreaking Havoc On Society

This Pravda-USA circling of the wagons circus that the political left is delivering to the public right now regarding Biden and the classified documents investigation and subsequent report should ring everyone’s bell, but the country is so divided that I’m quite sure the cultish left will swallow whatever narrative their Pravda-USA media delivers to them and parrot it ad nauseum as if it is uncontestable fact.

What has become completely clear to anyone that has any critical thinking left is that the vast majority of the left leaning media has completely flushed all journalistic ethics and morals and they are advocacy outlets of pure propaganda that are in lock-step with the political left. These media outlets are an enemy to democracy, enemy to liberty, enemy to ethics and morals, enemy to the truth, and therefore an ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE of the United States of America.

    • Good points but the corruption has always been there look how sugar’s detrimental health consequences has been ‘covered’ by ‘free press’…with a pillow.

They have always been this way. Note how Duranty discredited the truth. In today’s terms, he discredited any rumor of a famine in Ukraine as ‘Republican talking points’ or ‘misinformation’. Everyone in the know knew the truth. Duranty knew the truth. Duranty was given the Pulitzer Prize for lying to support the cause. As far as I can tell, that is one of the main purposes of the Pulitzer Prize. The link above is from NPR, a site pretty sympathetic to Duranty.
