We just have to stop electing narrow, single-minded, critical thinking-challenged people to Congress. A basic understanding of the law and rudimentary knowledge of American history would also be nice, but that might be asking too much.
Falling neatly into the net the Biden administration and its prosecutor lackeys have set up for the gullible and easily misled, Sen. Lankford told The Hill that the trial of former President Donald Trump for falsifying business records (you could be excused for thinking it was a sex crime based on the accounts being broadcast on cable news channels like CNN and MSNBC) has been “painful and salacious.” Lankford said, “It reminds me of the Clinton administration and all the conversations that were happening around that time period with Ken Starr and all the things that came out.”
Why would that be? Because both Clinton and Trump are men? Politicians? They both have arms, legs and a head? There is no substantive parallel between the two situations or cases. Trump is being tried under a criminal statute that has nothing to do with sex. Clinton wasn’t tried at all, he was President when the conduct at issue in his impeachment occured, and the Lewinsky scandal proved that he engaged in perjury, lying under oath in a court room proceeding while he was President. Clinton also violated the sexual harassment law he had previously signed while being fawned over by feminists. Bagging female interns when you are President of the United States is an extreme example of abusing a power disparity for sex. Then Clinton, also while President, lied about his conduct and used subordinates to cover up his mess.
Oh, I’ll give Lankford a tiny point based on the fact that Starr was accused of releasing “salacious” details about Clinton’s turning his intern into a sex toy just to embarrass Clinton, just as the Bragg prosecution of Trump is designed to embarrass him. But Trump’s alleged behavior with his naughty bits were not Presidential conduct and were and are irrelevant to the legal matter at hand. Clinton’s Lewinsky follies were directly relevant to his lies, his perjury, his sexual harassment, his dishonest testimony before a grand jury, and his abuse of his office.
Lankford is strong evidence that being a minister is not a sufficient qualification to justify election to the U.S. Senate. Donald Trump’s sexual escapades while a private citizen are only more disturbing than those of other Presidents—I would guess ten or more, led by the sainted Jack Kennedy—in that they are being exposed in a legal preceding, which is in turn exists to a great extent for that purpose.
Senator Lankford is shocked—shocked!-–that the extreme Type A male narcissists who are drawn to the Presidency have a strong tendency to rut like bull elephant seals. Elected officials have to comprehend life, human nature and reality to be competent and trustworthy. Lankford needs to get out of church more.
I listened to a clip of Susan McDougal being interviewed by Anderson Cooper where she recounts her involvement with Trump. From what she said it appears that Trump was speaking truthfully to Billy Bush on that Access Hollywood tape.
Women are drawn to power and resources and some are willing to debase themselves to bathe themselves in that power. It should be expected that those rutting bull seals will take full advantage of such situations.
Now, Lankford wasn’t always like this. When he first arrived at Washington, he sent a letter to his constituents that basically said “I’m sorry. I am trying my best here, but these people are nuts. I try to explain common-sense things to them and they act like I am speaking in an incomprehensible foreign language. I try to get through to them, but I haven’t been able to. I don’t know if it is something in the water or they were always like this.” I wondered how long he could last before the water got to him, as well. It took 6 years. When Jan 6 happened and he cowered before the Democrats and basically said “Don’t hurt me, please don’t hurt me just because I am a Republican, I will be a good boy.”, I knew it was too late for him.
One of the things the Bragg persecution always reminds me of is Keith Olbermann et al. harping on “If this were happening in [enlightened and vastly superior] France, this would be a big nothing burger” during the Lewinsky matter. How did that talking point get erased from the lefty arsenal and get replaced by “Trump has sex with people he’s not married to!”
Why can’t they understand this doesn’t hurt Trump. Trump bangs porn stars. Biden showers with his daughter. Which one of those did YOU choose?
If they are going to lose anyway, at least they can mess him up on the way dowm.
