And Still More Post Debate Ethics: The “It Isn’t What It Is” Orgy

The meme collection inspired by a week of post-Biden meltdown spin and recriminations now available at Power Line is unusually funny: that one above, using a memorable and poignant moment from the early episodes of “The Walking Dead” (Series hero Rick says, “I’m so sorry this happened to you” before shooting the poor re-animated woman in the head), made me laugh out loud.

I suppose I don’t need to state the obvious, but let’s make it official: “The Biden Debate Disaster Ethics Train Wreck” has entered the Ethics Alarms pantheon. It still isn’t funny, as Col. Jessup would say, it’s tragic. Our President of the United States is humiliating himself before the whole world (which he doesn’t run, despite his claim to the contrary last night). We now know for certain that this party that claims to be so concerned about democracy has been engaged in a Sixties Communist-style cover-up, deceiving the public into thinking a figurehead is leading the government while unelected and unknown figures are really calling the shots. We also know that the corrupt news media has either enabled this plot or engaged in contrived ignorance to avoid revealing it. (Check out Christian Toto’s piece about how Hollywood participated in the Biden dementia cover-up.)

In a column titled You Gonna Investigate That? for the National Review, Charles Cooke makes a cogent argument regarding what the news media’s supposed shock and surprise that Biden is sliding into shadow consciousness, as many (like me) have insisted for years, logically means:

If it’s true, then the press was duped — and duped by the federal government of the United States of America. If it’s true, then the executive branch has been engaged in a massive — and effective — conspiracy to keep Biden’s infirmity from the people who are supposed to report the news. If it’s true, then the White House fooled the media; it outwitted the media; it embarrassed the media. If it’s true, then the president and his political party colluded to suppress the ability of the sacred Fourth Estate to relay matters of public interest to the voters, and, in the process, it made a mockery of the First Amendment. So . . . is the press gonna investigate that? It certainly sounds like a big story to me.

Indeed. In fact, it’s a Watergate level scandal. The Washington Post, however, which doggedly investigated that scandal, is still giving space to its Trump Deranged mega-hack, Dana Milbank (the paper has many, like Philip Bump, Jennifer Rubin and Eugene Robinson) for partisan gaslighting garbage like It’s not fair, Mr. President, but it’s reality. What’s not “fair”? That the Democrats finally got caught in their obscene cover-up? That Biden’s incompetent Presidency is finally facing its just and necessary consequences? That the irresponsible decision by an 81 year-old man already showing signs of dementia to corner his party’s nomination when he should have taken the responsible course and stepped aside is snowballing into the entirely predictable mess it has?

But the wonderful part of this ethics train wreck is how the Democrat liars and totalitarians can’t resist allowing it to expose their true nature for all to see who haven’t been permanent blinded by bias, propaganda, Trump Derangement or being short-changed when the IQ points were being handed out. For example, White House senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates had the gall to say this week that “President Biden leads the most transparent White House in history.” Who believes that now? How can a White House simultaneously be transparent and be furiously trying to deny reality?

Axios reports that “The Biden campaign painted the [last night’s] interview as energetic and eloquent, arguing the president laid out a clear case for a second term.” Eloquent? Eloquent? Joe Biden has never been eloquent in his entire career, except when he was delivering a plagiarized speech. In the ABC interview, what the campaign is calling “eloquent” must mean “not completely incomprehensible.”

The campaign is also citing the dust thrown around out by the likes of Chris Coons (D-Del.), a primary “it was just a bad night” culprit, and the perpetually embarrassing, truth-challenged Rep.Sheila Jackson Lee as if these were reliable truth-tellers. Hey, if two proven liars proclaim that an obviously mentally disabled leader isn’t, that’s persuasive! To whom?

Meanwhile, as more Democratic office holders and officials are massing with metaphorical pitchforks and torches, the rest of the Axis’s panic and desperation is moving into uncharted territory. Best-selling novelist Don Winslow (“The Power of the Dog”), a Biden loyalist, took to “X” to apparently try to extort Sen. Mark Warner, darkly threatening to release some kind of scandalous secret about the Senator if he continued to work to pressure Biden to withdraw. The strategy of justifying the candidacy of Biden by smearing Donald Trump is also becoming more outrageous, something I once might had doubted was possible. Consider this headline from The Daily Beast: “Boxer Who Showed off to Donald and Barron Trump Banned for Racist Rant.” This takes the McCarthy-esque tactic of guilt by association to a new low. Trump is a racist because a racist once “showed off” to him! Stuff like that is how a platform gets black-listed as a news and commentary source on Ethics Alarms: it’s why you don’t see sites like Breitbart and the Gateway Pundit referenced here.

Yet as the Democrats keep cheating, the leaks are proliferating. ABC, which is apparently now allied with the “dump Biden” group after being complicit in hiding his deficits from the American public for years, reported today that a radio host told ABC News that he had been provided with a list of questions in advance of his interview with the President. Another local radio host who interviewed Biden last week told CNN that she was also given questions before the interview to ask Biden.

Biden’s people and party cheat, and justify cheating because Donald Trump is a bad man. They intentionally corrupt the process of informing the electorate, and then claim to be fighting for democracy.

I could go on, but let’s end this carnage with a dose of cold truth. Nat Silver, risking becoming a pariah in Woke World, tweeted out what he called a “ladder,” listing the 13 steps to Biden’s ultimate removal. I think he’s wrong about the last rung being the 25th Amendment, but at least he’s not lying, spinning, or abandoning reality. Nate says we’re in the middle rungs. That does seem fair…

  1. If it’s true, then the press was duped — and duped by the federal government of the United States of America.”

Not buying it; to wit: What Did White House Reporters Know And WHEN DID THEY KNOW IT?

MONEY QUOTE: “The greatest loser from Biden’s catastrophic meltdown during his debate last week with Donald Trump is not Biden himself. No, the greatest loser is the media, specifically elite news organizations like The New York Times that have teams of reporters covering the White House. THESE TEAMS EITHER ENTIRELY MISSED BIDEN’S SHARP COGNITIVE DECLINE — OR, WORSE, THEY ACTIVELY COVERED IT UP.” (bolds/caps/italics mine)

    My money’s on the latter!

  2. The AUC is just so damned brazen. They never self-correct. They just double down. Truly breath taking. If I ever ran into someone like Dana Milbank, I’d want to grab him by his shoulders and say, “Dana. What are you thinking?”

    • They’ve operated zealously from a fundamental belief they’ve held since Obama’s election- that the USA is just one hairsbreadth away from tipping into a never to be undone electoral progressive majority with demographics insurmountably on their side.

If you believe you’ll never be held accountable because the opposition will never have influence again, then why wouldn’t you break a few rules?

      • Look at Germany. They are pretty close to outlawing AfD and jailing its members. Their Supreme Court has ruled that all AfD members are ineligible from owning guns. They need to to it to protect Democracy!

  3. Last week, I commented that we were on the “Presidential removal” spectrum, given the President’s obvious condition, the fact that the media was starting to cover it, and the Administration seemed to be working furiously to cover it up.

So are the feelings of this readership getting stronger that an President Biden will be removed from the ticket…or for all the talk this week, is it still highly unlikely?

      • And I am really missing, Andy, NAL, kazoo and the rest, because their likely protestations in defense of the media (“Nah, there’s no mainstream media bias!”), attacks on Trump, and excuses for Joe would have been mordantly amusing, and shooting them down would be like like firing shotguns up at a flock of Passenger Pigeons.

  4. How many people does it take to change a Biden-era light bulb? 💡. None, the old light bulb is just not feeling well.

    Honk! Honk! Wocka! Wocka! 🤡

  5. It should be mentioned that the utter self-imposed chaos behind the scenes of the DNC regarding how to oust Biden or retain him is, in a separate aspect than the ones already discussed, cosmic justice for the joy they had over the GOP’s self imposed chaos regarding House Speaker selections.

  6. Biden insists there’s surprise information coming up that will ruin Trump’s current polling… not that it will boost his own or anything.

Is there something being invented out of the Epstein files?
