In Case You Were Wondering…

Has Ethics Alarms ever commented about Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, now the designated running mate of Democratic Presidential Candidate by Default Kamala Harris? As it happens, yes, Walz was featured here back when his state was inflicting the George Floyd Freakout on the nation. I posted this as part of the ethics warm-up on May 30, 2020:

Bulletin for Gov. Walz: Derek Chauvin has civil rights too, you irresponsible fool. I have just watched Minnesota’s Governor repeatedly refer to George Floyd’s “murder.” An elected public official cannot and must not do that. If he wants to guarantee that a fair trial in the case becomes impossible, this is the way to do it. There has been no trial, and however horrible the video of Floyd’s death may be, Chauvin and the other officers have the right to the presumption of innocence. Now a St. Paul’s mayor is at the podium calling for Chauvin to be held “accountable.” Well, he’s under arrest and will face trial, and for now, that’s about it.  All of this outrage porn and virtue-signaling enables the rioters by pretending that there is anything productive to be done but to wait for the justice system to play out.”

As is often the case, I was right. Gov. Walz was wrong.

So now you know….

    • correction, to many SOCIALISTS, socialism is just nothing more than neighborliness.

I can be neighborly. That is not socialism.

I don’t have to be neighborly. That is not socialism.

when the government makes me be neighborly, that is socialism.

      who does that?

      the socialists.

Let me tell you about MN nice. I live one mile from the state line. When Walz closed his entire state during the Wuhan Virus freak-out, his residents decided to drive over the river to our quiet little border town (WI remained open after our state supreme court told our governor to go pound sand) and wreaked absolute havoc. Our police department was completely overwhelmed. We had a stabbing, an armed robbery, and a murder in the middle of the street all in one night. All involved were from MN. Restaurants were ready to close down, not because of the virus, but because they were done dealing with the rudeness that had come over the river.

To this day, MN plates often outnumber WI plates in our sweet downtown. And Minnesotans continue to be some of the rudest people I encounter here.

          • Prescott?

One of my routes to get to the Courthouse in Red Wing, Mn. sends me over the river at Prescott and it is a very pleasant drive south from there.

A few weeks ago, I had to drive all the way down to Alma and that was really nice.

          • “And where all the children are above average.”

I’ve never understood why Minnesotans lionized Garrison Keillor (until he wasn’t for being the clinically depressed, self-loathing brute he is). Didn’t they realize he was mocking them mercilessly?

So, the Wesconsin-Minnesota interstate rivalry is more deeply seated than just Vikings vs. Packers, eh?

            • It’s just especially bad where I am. (In my best Sarah Palin impression:) I can see Minnesota from my house. I live in a destination town on the St. Croix River. People love to come here and it’s a perfect day trip for people from Minneapolis/St. Paul (30 minute drive.) But they bring with them an incredibly pushy attitude, disregard for pedestrians, big ass boats, and flashy cars that straddle two parking spaces. Add in the cabin fever imposed upon them by Walzy, and it was a shit show; honestly, it was the wild west during Covid.

      • I wonder if Walz will think he is being neighborly if the community starts taking his stuff just because he said it was the neighborly thing to do.

    • Well, if you consider stealing from some neighbors to pay for things that benefit selected neighbors you prefer “neighborly”, then yeah, I guess socialism is just the same.

  1. My same acquaintances who had no idea what the “dinner of the gods” was when they insisted Christians were the dumbest people on the planet for calling the last supper mockery what it was are now all 100% in love with Tim Walz despite not one single one of them having any idea who he was 10 minutes ago.

    • And probably think Elon Musk is the worst person in the world (after Trump) though they probably loved him 100% 4 years ago.

      • Yep. That one is among my top five ridiculous signs that progressives are genuinely hateful bigots.

Musk was almost at messiah levels of adoration among most progressives I know.

Then he supported free speech and asked a couple of skeptical questions.

Bam. He transformed into Satan incarnate.

        • Progressives may not be bigots but they certainly are sheep. The need to feel like they belong to something noble is so strong they cannot see that they are becoming that which they claim to oppose.

I sometimes wonder if many white anti-racists are suffering from a version of the Stockholm Syndrome.

        • They seem to be overly enthusiastic lemmings. Where did that behavior come from? Kamala Harris used to be the reason why they had to keep Joe propped up because having her ascend to the presidency was unthinkable. Now, she’s the most qualified candidate ever, even more so than the first most qualified candidate, Hillary Clinton.

Who you gonna’ believe? The Democrats or your lyin’ eyes?

          • Spot on. I wonder if Mrs. Clinton needed to take a shower after that endorsement, just to try to get the stench of it off her.

The phrase “your lyin’ eyes” now has the Eagles running through my head, and the lyrics to that song seem strangely appropriate for what you wrote.

            Spooky…

  2. I read a comment yesterday that said if Bernie Sanders had won the Dem nomination for President, Walz would have been his likely VP pick. Another pundit said Walz is “Bernie with a Minnesota accent.” For me, that jumps right over “socialist” to “communist.” If the Harris-Walz ticket is victorious, I can foresee the rate of decline of this country kick into overdrive. You would see the “civil war” speculation bumped up several notches from already-troubling levels. Personally, I view the choice of the proven radical Walz as a gift to the Trump campaign if they can stay on message and stay away from the racial and personal aspects. The records of these two speak for themselves and clips of their stated positions should be played on a loop. Since she likes to brag about her contributions to Biden’s policies, the failures of the Biden administration are Harris’ failures as well, although she views them as accomplishments. She bragged about being the “last person in the room” when the disastrous and disgraceful Afghanistan withdrawal was ordered. The border, the Middle East, the coverup of Joe’s true condition, all of the ineptitude needs to be dumped at her feet in big stinking piles.
