Most Insincere Apology Of The Month: “Snow White” Star Rachel Zegler

This over-opinionated actress even looks like a smug jerk, doesn’t she? And she is! But not so smug that she is willing to accept the consequences of what she says when it jeopardizes her career. Like so many jerks on the Left, Zegler had to vent her poisoned spleen at everyone who didn’t vote her way—guess which!—on November 5. She took to Instagram and wrote,

“I find myself speechless in the midst of this. another four years of hatred, leaning us towards a world i do not want to live in. I shouldn’t be this shocked. but i am. i am heartbroken for my friends who awoke [in] fear this morning. and i am here with you. to cry, to yell, to hug. to wax poetic on how the left continues to fail us in forging a new path forward. this loss should not have been. and it certainly should not have been by so many votes. May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace. Another four years of hatred, leaning us towards a world I do not want to live in. Leaning us towards a world that will be hard to raise my daughter in.”

She didn’t stop there. In subsequent Instagram posts, she added that added there is a “deep, deep sickness” in the United States because so many citizens voted for a “man who threatens our democracy.” Harris’s loss, the keen political analyst wrote, was “one that should not have been… and it certainly should not have been by so many votes,”  Later she wrote, “It is terrifying the number of people who stand behind what this man preaches. it is a foolish subscription to a false sense of security, of masculinity, of intelligence, of patriotism, and of humanity. there is no help, no counsel, in any of them. i could go on. i won’t. i feel sad. you probably do, too. fuck this.”

Ah, what a paragon of princess-like demeanor is this Snow White! Zegler has already become something of a millstone around the Disney live-action version of its most iconic animated film by shooting off her mouth about how the original film was archaic, anti-feminist crap. This was after Disney had to replace the Seven Dwarfs with seven weirdos of varying heights for fear of offending the huge Little People audience as well as anyone who could be nicknamed “Wokey.” The combined backlash resulted in the project being delayed a year so the controversy could calm down, there was Ol’ Big Mouth Zegler, stirring the pot again.

There was no chance that Disney, as tone-deaf as it is, would let Zegler’s outburst stand, so she  was ordered, obviously, to apologize. An apology that is mandated is not an apology; on the Ethics Alarms Apology Scale, it is a Level 10:

“10. An insincere and dishonest apology designed to allow the wrongdoer to escape accountability cheaply, and to deceive his or her victims into forgiveness and trust, so they are vulnerable to future wrongdoing.”

Oh, Snow tried. “Hi everyone,” she wrote, “I would like to sincerely apologize for the election post I shared on Instagram last week. I let me emotions get the best of me. Hatred and anger have caused us to move further and further away from peace and understanding, and I am sorry I contributed to the negative discourse. This week has been emotion for so many of us, but I firmly believe that everyone has the right to their opinion, even when it differs from my own. I am committed to contributing positively towards a better tomorrow.”

Bullshit. Some points…

  • That’s not sincere. If she really believed that people have a right to differing opinions, she would not have cursed Trump voters to “never know peace.”
  • Doesn’t she mean she let her emotions get the worst of her?
  • One short outburst may be a momentary lapse; two could be happenstance, but three is enemy action. Goldfinger would have had her shot.
  • When writing an official apology, proof read. “This week has been emotion for so many of us”?
  • A better tomorrow will be one where Rachel Zigler behaves professionally and doesn’t audition for “The Robert De Niro Story.” He’s a superstar; De Niro can get away with being a Trump Deranged asshole without hurting his films. She can’t.

I think the new “Snow White” film is doomed, and Zegler will be a major reason. Hollywood has a long memory. This Snow White is metaphorical toast.

  1. Jack, you never directed an actor who’s a jerk? We’ve done enough shows together that I know better. So do you.

    And, to be a jerk….”on October 5.”?

(I didn’t want to audition for that next show, anyway.)

  2. Disney is being sued by an actress who was fired for a social media post. Her post was not nearly egregious as Zeigler’s posts. Disney’s defense is that the other people who posted political stuff reflected the values and opinions of Disney, while Carano’s did not. This incident with Zeigler is going to make that defense argument more difficult.

  3. From her wiki page: “Her mother is of Colombian descent. Her maternal grandmother immigrated from Barranquilla, Colombia to the United States in the 1960s. Her father is of Polish descent. Due to her ethnicity, Zegler faced racial discrimination as a child.”

I’m confused as to this woman being considered to be sufficiently “of color” to be a DEI hire. Maybe her Colombian mother and grandmother are Afro-Carribean? She can sure be made up to look either white or African-ish. Just confusing. And funny how Hollywood really doesn’t do “of color” people unless they’re mixed race and therefore not really, you know, black black. What a bunch of preachy assholes.
