This is one of the times I miss our once-frequent cartoonist commenters, the apparently retired King Kool and the now completely Trump Deranged Ampersand. What a snotty, insulting, arrogant and stupid cartoon that is. I’m not sure where it cane from: my guess would be The New Yorker.
Just because the unethical assertion that voting for Donald Trump (or against the spectacularly awful Kamala Harris, the totalitarianism, censorship and anti-Semitism-supporting party she represented or the incompetent Biden administration) means you are deplorable, “garbage,” a racist, a sexist or a fascist comes in a cartoon doesn’t mitigate the vile nature of the statement. I’m sure the cartoon will be defended by the claim that it is mocking people like the speaker in the drawing.
Sure.

Yeah, those poor Democrats are right to have lost faith in humanity…their own. With pretty much all the votes counted, nearly 8 million people that pulled the lever for President Biden in 2020 either voted for Trump in ’24 or stayed home to avoid voting for Cackles.
Where is the hope?
Harris’ vote was 74.3m — 7.0m less than Biden. Her percentage was 48.3%, 3% less than Biden.
Trump’s vote was 76.8M — 2.6m more than 2020. His percentage was 49.9%, 3% more than 2020.
98.2% of the votes were cast for the two major party candidates in both elections.
Republicans have 3 more Senate seats than 2020, and 8 more House seats (that would likely have been more, but for gerrymandering and probable Census errors).
I will say that if Trump can deliver a reasonable economy, and decent outcomes internationally — neither of which are guaranteed — the Democrats’ denialism could well lead to more Republican gains.
I think J.D. Vance was the biggest winner on election night. He could be a two-term president himself. I think he’s astute enough to ride whatever wave is generated during the next four years.
Maybe. If Trump can deliver. VP is often a graveyard, and there’s DeSantis to contend with as well as some other potential rising stars.
Yep, and DeSantis is term-limited in Florida…and very popular. His Presidential campaign was a bust, but first-time mistakes won’t be made next time.
I’ve had to mute a few people, not because I’m a Trump fan but because it’s just sad to read the things they post. You would think that Trump winning both the popular vote, and 270 Electoral College votes would be a clue that people were dissatisfied with the Democratic ticket. However, the prevailing attitude is that 75 million people are ignorant, and/or illiterate (‘millions of Americans have no more than a 6th grade education, and this is what you get’), racist and fascist. Unbelievable. I just can’t deal with them.
Au contraire, mon frere! The cartoon will be praised as revealed truth. The speaker in the cartoon is a noble, progressive, modern-day everyman to whom good people’s hearts go out.
