What was Whoopie saying in this clip as she tried to explain why Biden pardoning Hunter is defensible? Start it at the 10 minute mark: do NOT watch the whole thing because it will lower your IQ by 20 points.
In honor of the great Ralph Kramden (Jackie Gleason), who when caught with the undeniable evidence of his own lies or misconduct, stammered uselessly (on “The Honeymooners”) “Huminahuminahumina….” Ethics Alarms, on this date, December 2, 2024, hereby creates “The Grand Huminahumina,” which will be henceforth awarded to the public figure who best emulates poor Ralph by babbling incoherently under pressure.
One note in defense of Whoopie: she’s technically correct that breaking a promise isn’t technically a lie, unless it can be proven that the promise-breaker intended to break the promise when he or she made it. Breaking a promise is a breach of integrity and trust, but not necessarily honesty.
It is just as unethical as lying, however, unless conditions have materially changed since the promise was made. In the case of the Bidens, they have not.
I am less concerned about Biden’ lie or broken promise and Whoppie’s stammering than I am about Anna Navarro’s constant lie that Trump is hell bent on revenge and payback – and, the he campaigned on that. That is a lie and until proven differently Trump’s promise to not seek revenge is still a kept promise.
There is a major difference between targeting people for payback and eliminating those who practice corrosive or corrupt behaviors within government that threatens the very institutions people like David Brooks feel are necessary when people can no longer trust them.
he even said pardoning Hunter was not off the table.

Though I’m sure a pardon from President Trump would have been limited to the gun/tax things for which he was actually convicted. as opposed to a blanket 10-year pardon for all acts yet-to-be-tried.
There should be no doubt that our (current) Executive office is just as two-tiered and corrupt as this Administration’s Justice Department.
This has been accepted Axis narrative for what, a year? The justification is that Trump is Hitler, and no mater what he says, he’ll seek revenge. Well, 1) Justifiable accountability can still be called “revenge” if it looks like the end result will satisfy Trump, and 2) How does the Right’s certainty that Biden would pardon Hunter no matter what he promised different from the Left’s certainty that Trump will wreak vengeance no matter what he says?
It is being reported that the pardon had been in the words for months. Meaning that he knew he was going to pardon Hunter at the same time he was saying that he wouldn’t. I haven’t seen conclusive proof, but these things rarely are done overnight and usually go through several drafts of legal opinion. For example, the Biden team probably needed to do some extensive research to find out exactly when Hunter’s spree of crime began. I have seen analyses of Hunter Biden’s laptop that put the number of documented felonies displayed at around 150. Now, Hunter had 2 other laptops stolen by Russian spies that had posed as prostitutes in Vegas (yes, he fell for it twice). They need to know the dates that those laptops covered as well in case Putin decides to release information from that.
It’s also being reported that Biden was still leaning toward not pardoning Hunter until Jill and other family members got their hooks into him over Thanksgiving. That would mean the statements weren’t lies.
What ever happened to “a man’s word is his bond.” what has annoyed me in this storyline is that there were gullible peopel that beleived Biden would nto interfere with the wheels of justice. Thsi is especially othersome snce he ahs been interfering for thepast 4 years. All of this was predictable based on the preise that politicians, both red and blue, lie incessantly.
