I find this story, a Great Stupid phenomenon if there ever was one, almost too stupid to believe.

Leigha Lemoine, a cosmetology student at Horry-Georgetown Technical College in South Carolina, was suspended and banned from the campus after she directed the phrase “get blasted” at someone in a SnapChat group discussion. The object of the term was not a student, but students were participants in the online chat. One of those students complained to the administration, which investigated and determined that Laigha had not seriously threatened anyone. Then an earlier social media post surfaced showing her firing a pistol. Using that as the “context” of her remark, the school suspended her….for a full year!

She is suing. Good.

She violated student code by “engaging in any activity that disrupts the educational process of the college,” the school held. “While the College respects all individuals’ rights, including their rights to freedom of expression, the College’s priority is to ensure the well-being and security of the entire campus community, a spokesperson for the college said.The spokesperson is an idiot, and her school is run by idiots. It should be leveled to the ground and the grounds sowed with salt. The suspension is almost unbelievably unfair, irrational and unethical:

1. “Get blasted” typically means to get drunk or stoned. It can also be used to express anger or annoyance with someone, as in “Oh, go to hell” or “Go fuck yourself.” It does not mean “I’m going to kill you” or “I’m going to shoot you.”

2. Who would report someone for writing “Get blasted!”? It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s SUPER CENSORIOUS ASSHOLE! That despicable student has done more to disrupt the school than Leigha Lemoine.

3. The school was correct in its initial determination that the comment was benign. What is the relevance of the fact that she has used a pistol in the past? It doesn’t make her dangerous, it doesn’t mean she is a potential assailant, and it doesn’t magically make a later statement that isn’t a threat into one.

I read stories like this and despair. How did woke, weenie, gun-phobic, words-are-violence hysteria get this bad? The lawsuit must win for the abused student, and the school should be hit with sufficient punitive damages to turn it into a parking lot.

The story alone, in that it could occur even once in country that guarantees free speech and the pursuit of happiness, is sufficient to explain why the Democrats lost the election. The Left’s excesses and delusions have made too much of the culture insane and non-functional. It has to be fixed.
