Althouse found this for me. Anyone who is surprised or disillusioned by Maddow’s blazing hypocrisy hasn’t been paying attention or doesn’t care that the propagandists they follow have no integrity.
“Maze’s” comment about her being an actress is, sadly, astute. The talking heads on MSNBC, to a significant extent on Fox News, and also on the other networks, are allowed and probably encouraged to telegraph their feelings (or the feelings the network’s want their audiences to think they have) about what they are reporting. Once upon a time, even the most biased of news anchors would announce the news with poker faces and neutral tones. That was considered professional then, and in fact that was and is professional for broadcast journalists: it has just become passe along with journalism ethics generally. Few mug as furiously and shamelessly as Maddow, but her bosses and clearly her audience appreciate her hamming it up: she is reported to have a salary of around $25 million.
A total contradiction like the one portrayed in the matching videos above should be signature significance for anyone paying attention: it means: “I am a partisan hack rather than the trustworthy analyst I pretend to be, and I express what I think my audience wants me to feel about what I am reporting.” People are fine with that, apparently. Fascinating.
Ethics Alarms 
The pardon of Hunter Biden by his father has left an indelible stain on a great many left-wing personalities.
Six months ago, when the President said he wasn’t going to pardon his son, all of them showed great affection for his upholding of the “rule of law.” Many of them talked about the fairness of the trial – a “Trump-appointed” judge, after all – and the uprightness of the those involved in the conviction. There was no witch hunt to see here, folks. Partisan politics were not at issue. The evidence was laid out fairly and the verdict rendered fairly. President Biden, many said, was doing something Donald Trump would NEVER do…let one of his children actually pay for crimes committed. President Biden loves his son with an unfathomable love, they said, but still, he loves the law even more.
Today, a number of those people are singing a very different tune. The trial was laced with partisanship, they say. The verdict was completely unfair given how trivial the offenses were. Republicans applied pressure to the process and the sentence was likely to be far harsher than deserved. President Biden showed incredible love for his son. What father wouldn’t pardon his own son…his only son…his only son who he loved?
Ms. Maddow – funny how similar that sounds to “Mad Cow”, the disease that turns a brain to mush – is little more than a robot, programmed to say and act just as her programmers have determined. So in that sense, there is no hypocrisy. There is no double standard. She’s just the puppet, moving however the strings tell her.
What a sad, pathetic existence. I hope Rachel enjoys that giant salary…while it lasts. Gain the world, but lose your soul…
