…as with today’s idiocy, that “statement” above.
The President has no say whatsoever in when proposed Constitutional amendment have been ratified (or not). He can express his approval of one, and lobby for it with legislators, but he cannot make a ruling that the [completely superfluous, virtue-signaling] Equal Rights Amendment has been properly ratified (it hasn’t been). He might as well put out a statement that Barry Bonds should be voted into the Hall of Fame, or that broccoli is good for you. This is the President whose party made failure to uphold “democratic norms” one of its main Big Lies against Donald Trump, and Biden’s Presidency has ignored more norms than any Presidency at least since FDR tried to be President For Life. (Come to think of it, he succeeded!)
Making this presumptuous and gratuitous endorsement even worse is the fact that everybody knows now that Biden is in no shape to declare anything of substance, especially a matter of constitutional law debate. This isn’t Biden talking, it is some phantom activist in the White House using Biden’s name and office to advance a personal agenda.
Since his historic, DEI VP was selected by his party’s oligarchs to run for President without any components of the modern nomination process (and I doubt that Harris would have even survived the old-fashioned “smoke-filled room”) Biden—-that is, his puppeteers—has set an all-time Presidential spite record by filling his final months with obstructions for Donald Trump, as well as leniency for murderers, civilian honors for despicable civilians, more unethical student loan waivers, obstacles to U.S. energy independence and climate change grandstanding. Then there was this week’s head-exploding call for censorship in his Orwellian farewell speech.
Meanwhile Ruy Texiera, a generally objective, fair, and honest analyst, is having none of the obsequious claims from the Axis that Biden, in addition to being a figurehead President, was somehow also a good one who will be vindicated by history. On his substack “The Liberal Patriot” he authors a much more exhaustive description of Biden’s failures than I did in selecting poor Joe as “The Worst President Ever,” as well as chronicles Biden’s betrayal of the voters who thought they were voting for a moderate in 2020. (They also thought they were voting for a cognitive functioning leader rather than a marionette.)
It’s a superb piece, and you should read it.
Even if Biden puts out a statement saying that you shouldn’t.
Ethics Alarms 
If I could pick one thing that would define and educate the world about Biden and his presidency would be a prime time program showcasing the many substantial falsehoods he has made in national addresses. The focus should only be on statements that can be objectively shown as false. There are plenty of mendacious statements. Issues that can have differences of opinion on the facts can be avoided.
I don’t know how many people know that the original amendment had a time limit required for ratification and that had passed long ago. They are banking on electoral ignorance. What exactly would it do anyway?
Has there ever been a more flagrantly lawless person occupying the White House? Even Nixon’s depredations don’t surpass what this guy has done, and Teapot Dome doesn’t even fall in the same galaxy of lawlessness.
Can this be seen as anything other than the President thumbing his nose at the court system and even the Constitution itself? After all, on at least two separate occasions the courts, including the Supreme Court, have rejected the idea that expired amendments can be resurrected and added to the Constitution, in one case the ERA.
What now? Will he declare the moon made of Swiss cheese? Why not just declare Trump ineligible to serve and have him arrested and sent to Gitmo.
I mean, if Biden can unilaterally declare an amendment approved, his powers must be effectively limitless. Or at least, his puppet-masters must think so.
That biggest thing that has bothered me about these last-minute mud-in-your-eye pronouncements is the question
Does President Biden have the cognitive ability to know and understand what he is doing? Is he demented or not? If he’s not demented, he should be held accountable for his actions. If he is, he has no business signing anything.
You see, I don’t agree with the assessment that he is our worst President because I don’t think he’s been President for at least two years. Woodrow Wilson had two terms in office. Most of the damage he caused took place prior to his stroke. Everything prior to 1919 was him, him, him.
Just how much of this Presidency has been Biden? If Biden is not mentally competent to be President and hasn’t been for most of his term, if at all, he isn’t the worst President. He’s also not competent to sign all these orders.
Are we approaching a Constitutional crisis here? Just how many of these rulings will actually come to pass if they are challenged on the basis of the President’s clear decline?
And will we ever find out just who has been responsible for putting this stuff in front of him to sign?
Well, so much for Title IX. If the ERA is incorporated into the Constitution, then you can’t mandate funding for women’s sports. In fact, is it constitutional to even have separate (but equal?) teams for girls and women? Colleges will rejoice in that they can repurpose women’s sports funding to more DEI crap.
Honestly, can he just leave already? Hasn’t he done enough to harm our country already?
What a bunch of malarkey.
Another effort of the Biden Administration and the left to put things in the way of Trump accomplishing his agenda, let’s face it, if Trump is having to constantly undo, undo, undo he cant spend much time to drill baby drill or close the border.
What last minute orders is President Biden’s puppeteers going to do over the weekend to try and stop Trump closing the border? Since Biden seems to think he can unilaterally add an amendment to the Constitution at the last minute of his administration, what’s stopping him from pardoning ALL the illegal immigrants and giving them citizenship and voting rights with the stroke of a pen forcing the Trump administration to have to fight that through the courts for 18 months and by then the damage has been done and elections have been corrupted?
So, what are the odds that some of Biden’s last minute actions get challenged under the basis that he wasn’t mentally competent to make those decisions, and therefore someone ELSE made those decisions, making them legally void?
No chance.
Well, I feel vindicated, but not really happy about it. Looks like Trump is nullifying Biden’s last minute pardons on the basis of mental state and autopen usage. I don’t see this ending well unless there’s solid proof of some kind. As instapundit says, “There must be some point where it’s not a question of delegation, but simply fraud.”
Oh, and even if there IS solid proof, it’s still going to be an ugly mess.
