I may start pairing this category from now on. These two recent examples of elected officials who would be working at Pizza Hut if they were subject to the Ethics Alarms “Stupidity Rule” are, sadly, not as unusual as they should be.
The mention of the Stupidity Rule reminds me: over on my Trump Deranged Facebook feed, an otherwise sharp and perceptive FBF posted a scathing reaction to the Trump administration’s announcement directing that government employees who witness efforts by their supervisors or other staff to defy executive orders must report the violations. This proves Trump is a Nazi, you know. I had to wrestle my fingers to the floor to resist posting that all the new administration is doing is reiterating a law of long-standing: government employees must report illegal conduct, and Executive Orders have the force of law. Ignorance makes it so much easier to be Trump Deranged…
But I digress. Let’s look now at the incompetent elected Republican, a dolt in the House I was happily unaware of until now. Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee, making a strong bid to land on the Ethics Alarms list of the worst members of Congress before the 2026 elections, introduced a resolution to amend the U.S. Constitution, repealing the 22nd Amendment, to allow President Donald Trump and other future Presidents to serve a third term. Trump, of course, is the reason for this irresponsible and DOA proposal.
Trump “has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal,” said Ogles. “It is imperative that we provide President Trump with every resource necessary to correct the disastrous course set by the Biden administration. He is dedicated to restoring the republic and saving our country, and we, as legislators and as states, must do everything in our power to support him.”
Well, I’ve never said that there weren’t members of Congress who would support a dictatorship.
Trump is 78: getting him through the next four years without seeing him keel over or start speaking in tongues like our previous President is going to take some luck as it is. Ogles wants a two-term President who will be 86 by the end of his tenure. President George Washington was brilliantly prescient to set the precedent (aka “democratic norm”)by serving only two terms, while Franklin Roosevelt, who decided that the war gave him leave to keep getting elected President even though he was failing intellectually and physically, was dangerously wrong. The U.S. learned that lesson, and Ogles wants to unlearn it.
I have a better idea: let’s limit Ogles to two terms (he’s in his second).
Moron.
From the Democratic side, we have obvious choice: Brandon Johnson, Chicago’s Communist, incompetent, Democratic mayor. His sole virtue is that without him, all the astoundingly incompetent Democratic mayors of big U.S. cities would be women, and that would be a bad look. This week, Johnson reiterated that his sanctuary city is going to defy federal law enforcement, as he said one stupid thing after another.
“Chicago stands strong: regardless of the circumstances, our commitment to protecting and supporting this city remains unwavering,” Johnson wrote in a social media post. “We will continue to fight for the justice and safety of all who call this place home.” Later he referred to illegal immigrants as “working people”—his theory seems to be that working immunizes you from law enforcement—and said, “We’re going to stand up, and we’re going to protect undocumented individuals. We’re going to protect Black folks, brown folks, Asian folks… Listen, the anti-sentiment that exists in this political space is unconscionable and it’s dangerous. Whether it’s anti-Black or antisemitic, we’re going to protect people, and we’re going to invest in people,” Johnson continued. “The city of Chicago will be better, stronger and safer despite who’s in the White House.”
The voters of Chicago actually elected this preening, clueless clown. I particularly like the philosophy that policies shouldn’t change “regardless of circumstances.” Johnson isn’t even up to date in his deceitful lexicon for “illegal immigrants.” “Undocumented is so Obama Administration. The current misleading term is “migrants.” Try to keep up, Mr. Mayor.
Yup, a sure fire way to keep Chicago citizens safe is to allow dangerous, criminal, illegal immigrants to roam the streets. What an idiot.
How long can the Democratic Party avoid going the way of the Whigs if it allows Dunning-Kruger victims like Johnson to be its public face?

Brandon Johnson shat:
“We’re going to stand up, and we’re going to protect undocumented individuals. …”
Please do. I foresee the inside of a federal prison for you and a fair number of your compatriots. I think you might look really good in bright orange.
I really hope that Tom Homan is up to doing just that, if Johnson breaks even a millimeter of federal law. I suspect it’s all just virtue signalling blather, but I hope, even pray, that I’m wrong.
Chicago is truly the armpit of America right now, and needs a good dose of disinfectant along with deodorant.
Regarding Ogles, I concur in all aspects. Moron.
“How long can the Democratic Party avoid going the way of the Whigs if it allows Dunning-Kruger victims like Johnson to be its public face?”
As long as people keep voting for them…
RE: A third term for TrumpIt’s funny: I was just musing last night with Mrs. Zechman that one thing that would REALLY drive the Democrats crazy would be if Trump were to step down some time effective in early January of 2027.
Then, having not served more than two years of the 2024 term, he would be eligible to run for–and possibly WIN–a third term in 2028. I know it’s so stupid-crazy-unlikely to actually happen but I find myself rooting for this.

Diabolical proposal, but it wouldn’t fly.
The 22nd amendment starts: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
Also, the 2 year rule in the 22nd amendment specifies that you can serve up to two years of a term where another person was elected president.
===============
As usual, the Babylon Bee was on the job prior to the election, with a headline something like: “Democrats now concede that Trump won the 2020 election, so he is ineligible for a third term in 2024”.
A “Brandon” to replace President Biden? I think we have a winner!!
…and just say “No” to repealing the 22nd Amendment. I’m glad Rep. Ogles likes President Trump so much to suggest this, but it’s utterly ridiculous. Considering three terms of Kackles is enough to bury that idea in the Challenger Deep. If you want to continue winning, run really great candidates every 4 years and you won’t need Amendments to prop you up.
Forget Pizza Hut, Johnson would seem to be better suited for Tastee Freez, though there are very few of those left.
I recently saw a Democrat Congress woman say that the ten million recently arrived “migrants” couldn’t be deported because “Who would work in our restaurant kitchens, build our houses, harvest our crops and staff our resorts? All these things will become unaffordable, and the economy will be ruined.” So, the Dems are now the Koch Brothers or Tyson Chicken and want cheap labor? That’s just so cynical. “Come here to America! And work for less than anyone here is willing to work for.” Aren’t restaurant owners and contractors and farmer and resort owners mostly corporate fiends who are now hand in glove with the new Mussolini? Shouldn’t the intelligentsia be forced out of the cities to work the fields a la Cambodia under Pol Pot? What’s going on here?
I live in downstate Illinois -for 20 years we lived in the northwest Chicago burbs. (for laughs, check out the lunacy in Dolton, IL, she makes Johnson look sane in comparison)
I shudder to think of the stupidity that is rampant with Chicago leaders. And worse, we have a Governor who is just as clueless as Johnson is. He’s already declared war against Trump.
Oh, and Michael Madigan’s corruption trial is just about to wrap up, that should be interesting.
Would it surprise anyone to learn that now that the wife and I are retired, we are actively seeking another state in which to reside?
