“A new four-lane highway cutting through tens of thousands of acres of protected Amazon rainforest is being built for the COP30 climate summit in the Brazilian city of Belém. It aims to ease traffic to the city, which will host more than 50,000 people – including world leaders – at the conference in November.
“The state government touts the highway’s “sustainable” credentials, but some locals and conservationists are outraged at the environmental impact. The Amazon plays a vital role in absorbing carbon for the world and providing biodiversity, and many say this deforestation contradicts the very purpose of a climate summit.
[Insert snide Ethics Alarms aside: Ya think??]
“Along the partially built road, lush rainforest towers on either side – a reminder of what was once there. Logs are piled high in the cleared land which stretches more than 13km (8 miles) through the rainforest into Belém. Diggers and machines carve through the forest floor, paving over wetland to surface the road which will cut through a protected area.
“Claudio Verequete lives about 200m from where the road will be. He used to make an income from harvesting açaí berries from trees that once occupied the space. ‘Everything was destroyed,’ he says, gesturing at the clearing. ‘Our harvest has already been cut down. We no longer have that income to support our family.’ He says he has received no compensation from the state government and is currently relying on savings. He worries the construction of this road will lead to more deforestation in the future, now that the area is more accessible for businesses….”
The flagrant hypocrisy of celebrity and government climate change hucksters is usually symbolized by, according to conservative critics, their use of private jets and chartered flights, spewing global warming carbon galore. At least in those cases, the John Kerrys and Leonardo DiCaprios can argue that they have to travel to save the planet. There is no reason at all, however, why a climate summit has to be held in a locale that requires the destruction of rain forest vegetation to accommodate attendees.
These people really think the public is so stupid it won’t comprehend the absurdity and dishonesty underlying their racket. The sad part is, they are substantially correct.

The Climate Change Movement entered the “racket” stage long ago. Not as long ago as FIFA or the Olympics, mind you, but they had a significant head start.

To quote instapundit: I’LL BELIEVE GLOBAL WARMING IS A CRISIS WHEN THE PEOPLE WHO TELL ME IT’S A CRISIS START TO ACT LIKE IT’S A CRISIS
I wouldn’t believe it even then.
So the climate change summits sound like they do for local environments what hosting the Olympics does for local economies.
Just a rough theory of mine (anxiously awaiting public financing…) suggests that part of that Climate AlarmaCYST Agenda is based on many of its adherents’ thinly veiled hatred of humans….at least those who don’t think/act the right way.
The Medieval Warming Period (MWP/~ 800 to 1200 AD) saw GREAT INCREASES in human population and longevity due to advances in food production/availability, improved farming techniques, agricultural methods (domestication of plants and animals), nutrition, trade, an increase in arable land, and a favorable growing climate to boot.
Scary thought to Human Haters, am I right?
It gets worse.
The MWP’s population increases & mobility also saw the spread of Catholicism and other religions which assumed a larger societal role; many of the great European Cathedrals were built during the time.
Now, what’s more horrifying to Human Haters than just more of what they hate?
Howse about more of what they hate being people of faith, which is to say, not thinking the way they should?
To paraphrase Michael Douglas’ Gordon Gekko: “That’s the one thing you have to remember about Lefties; they love animals and hate people.”

Sacrifices MUST be made; the talented Dr.-Philosopher-Ethicist Dominic Roser (Institute for Ethics and Human Rights/University of Fribourg and author of “The Ethics of Climate Change“) smugly sniffs that there exists “a moral obligation to abstain from flying.”
One may keenly sense the anguished cost-benefit analysis he is forced to apply to any-n-all activity, and its ultimate impact on an increasingly fragile Mother Gaia, whose delicate life hangs in the balance.
He leaves little to the imagination as he bravely, and with seemingly no concern for self, outlines what must be everyone’s priority:
(bolds & caps mine throughout)
“People of the future generations die through our flights. To put it bluntly, the jetliner in which I sit is like a rocket that is aimed at future humans.”
Powerful stuff! Yet for the self-anointed, tasked with seeing what the rest of us simply cannot, there remain hard choices which remain immune to scrutiny of the great unwashed and, you know, like, a fact-based Reality.
“But sometimes one has to fly, for example if your mother is dying far away, or WHEN I AS A POLITICIAN HAVE TO GO TO A CLIMATE CONFERENCE.
Heavy is the head that wears the crown, am I right?
Anywho, a larger question: Haven’t these Climate Criminals ever heard of teleconferencing?
To wit: During the 2007 Bali Climate Conference, it was determined that the island paradise’s airport couldn’t accommodate ALL the carbon-spewing private jets.
What to do? Hey, howse about just DROPPING OFF those fat, pampered pricks, fly to a nearby island airstrip, wait for their charges to dine-n-quaff sumptuous noshments while doing NOTHING to save the Planet, then fly back to pick up their over-stuffed @$$wipes to spirit them home?
To paraphrase Captain Willard (Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now!): “The Climate Criminal hypocrisy piles up so fast you need wings to keep above it.“

Interesting that in your two posts you paraphrased two different movies starring one of the Sheens. Coincidence?
“Coincidence?”
Didn’t even think of it ’til you made that observation, but who’s to say; my mental pathways (such as they are) prefer to follow neither rhyme nor reason.
BTW, LUV both flicks, and will dive into them whenever I see they’re on; same with another (IMO) quotable movie: Chinatown.

Apparently burning electric cars and destroying rainforests is the new eco-friendly.
Becoming red-pilled is usually experienced as a process over time. First one begins to question the big-five legacy media giants and eventually rejecting them as radical Left propaganda. That leaves the well respected and honorable PBS/NPR because they just have to be reporting it straight less one’s entire world view be undermined which is just a wee-bit discombobulating. Uh oh, this red pill business isn’t fun anymore. Now, grasshopper is beginning to experience poor sleep patterns when previously sleep came easy as the carefully crafted worldview acted like a heavy dose of Trazadone.
As the light of reality, aka the truth, begins to increasingly peek through the dense shroud of disinformation, the pupa begins to emerge with the same features but with an awareness that cannot be undone. They have seen through the lies and begin to understand how people voted for Trump/Vance while simultaneously rejecting the goofus puddle-pups.
Have a nice day and keep the faith…🤠
