Anti-Gun Twerp David Hogg is catalyzing a split in the Democratic Party because he is ethically inert. Well, good. The Party asked for it, and deserves to get it.
The current ugly rift has occurred because Hogg, who was elected a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee in an absurd party meeting in which everyone present agreed that the main reason Kamala Harris isn’t President today is because too many American are sexist and racist, has made it clear that he will use his leadership position in the party help defeat Democratic Party candidates and current elected officials who do not meet his standards of “by any means possible” progressive activism.
DNC Chair Ken Martin protests, saying, “Let me be unequivocal: No DNC officer should ever attempt to influence the outcome of a primary election, whether on behalf of an incumbent or a challenger.Voters should decide who our primary nominees are, not DNC leadership. Our role is to serve as stewards of a fair, open and trusted process, not to tilt the scales.”
As you probably are thinking, ethics estoppel looms large here. Not only did the DNC work diligently to make sure Hillary Clinton got the Presidential nomination in 2016 over Bernie Sanders by using multiple unethical tactics, it also facilitated the party’s nomination of Kamala Harris last year despite her winning exactly zero primaries. Before that, it deliberately protected President Biden from a serious primary challenge that might have let voters know that poor Joe was several sandwiches short of a picnic. The Democratic Party hasn’t a proverbial leg to stand on as it insist that the DNC needs to protect its integrity. It has no integrity, and neither does the party itself.
The DNC doesn’t have the power to remove Hogg if he refuses to relent on his promise of funding primary challenges through a separate PAC , because the DNC never anticipated anyone behaving as Hogg is. “Under the present bylaws, there is no action that can be taken against David Hogg without changing the bylaws to extend a policy of neutrality to all primaries,” DNC Finance Chair Chris Korge said. Of course, what Hogg is doing is obviously unethical, but he’s a devotee of the Marion Barry Fallacy: “If’s it’s legal, it’s ethical.”
The Democrats deserve this. “No party official, no officer of the DNC, should do anything that would result in the division that was created by the perception that existed back in 2016,” Korge says.
Right. “Perception.”

I understand what all of those words mean individually, but not what they mean together.
What perception existed in 2016? I understand Korge doesn’t want division but does he mean something was perceived to have caused division or that there was a perception that there was division?

Oh, he means that there was a “perception” that Hillary and the DNC were cheating to get her the nomination because Hillary and the DNC were cheating to get her the nomination.
Oh. That’s what that means? I had no idea. That perception, though, did not exist because was actually a contested primary. Hillary rose to the top because it may have been preordained but I took the comment to mean that Orange Man Bad stormed the stage and sucked all the oxygen out of the room leaving little room for Hillary to find her footing. The other thing was that the public at large really didn’t like Hillary.

Anyone who’s been paying attention, and has some knowledge about the politics and ideology that animate the progressive/radical flank of the party, could have seen this split coming a mile away. Trump’s reelection only served to accelerate it.

Agreed. Now, the front runners are hard-leftists promoting an obvious socialist/Marxist agenda based on the idea that their proposals didn’t work in 2024 so they have to move even farther to the left. AOC, Sanders, Crockett, Newsome (sp?) and that Maryland Senator guy running around El Salvador want to lead the DNC for the next 100 years.
I simply cannot understand why the DNC wants to embrace reprehensible illegal aliens accused and/or convicted of heinous offenses as their proverbial hill-to-die-on . . . erm . . . hills. My wife, a Mexican immigrant who naturalized in 1992 (her father in 2002 at my urging) and her family are the biggest opponents of illegal immigration. They ask, “why did we have to spend 5 years as permanent residents, behave ourselves, file the proper applications and pay filing and legal fees to immigrate to this country when these others don’t do diddly squat and get bigass checks and are moved to the front of the line?” My response is, “uh . . . nice weather, ¿no?”

For the Democrats it is all about power and winning elections. On that issue, they take a long term view.
How does the democrat Party intend to dethrone the EVIL Orange_Man_Bad?
By abandoning Weak and Woke….and replacing it with (and this is where it gets GOOD) Alpha Energy!
