The Democrats, the Trump Deranged and the Axis Media Deserve Schadenfreude

Nelson had a good day yesterday; so did Oscar Wilde, who famously said, commenting on the sentimental death of the waif in Dickens’ “The Old Curiosity Shop,” “One must have a heart of stone to read the death of little Nell without laughing.” The Democrats have made fools of themselves and continue to do so; the Trump Deranged are reduced to “stewing in their own juices” as my father liked to say, and the Axis news media is so desperate to help out its pals that it’s removing any tiny doubt that might have remained that our journalists are untrustworthy, unethical hacks.

Good times, good times.

Let’s see…

1. To the horror of all but America’s consumers, April showed the lowest rate of inflation rate in about four years.

2. The stock market essentially returned to where it was before Trump was sworn in.

3. The recession that the Axis was hoping for looked, suddenly, far, far away.

4. CNN’s disappointment over the good inflation news was palpable, bring on a grim faced analyst to try to reassure everyone that he was certain tariffs were going to crash the economy eventually. It is so, so apparent that he Democratic Party desperately wants the President of the United States to fail, the exact sentiment that it condemned then-GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell for expressing (they claimed) when Obama was President.

5. Both CNN and MSNBC were reduced to complaining about the President admitting a small number of South African refugees because they are white, and still complaining about Qatar’s gift of a jet to the U.S., not to Trump.

6. Meanwhile, the Democrats displayed utter delusional perceptions of reality. In Jake Tapper’s (inexcusable and cynical) new book, David Plouffe, an Obama acolyte who served as a key adviser in the Harris campaign, was quoted calling the campaign against Donald Trump as a “fucking nightmare.” “And it’s all Biden,” he told the authors. “He totally fucked us!” It was Biden’s fault that the Democrats didn’t have the guts to hold an open convention? That the party covered up Biden’s declining cognitive abilities until they couldn’t fool anyone any more? That Harris ran an incompetent campaign in which she revealed herself to be just as shallow and inept as everyone had seen her be as Veep for four years? That she picked the most embarrassing running mate since Admiral Stockdale? That the Democrats’ sole arguments for keeping the Presidency was that Trump was Hitler, Biden was a great President but that the public was too dumb to see it, and that abortion is groovy?

7. David Hogg, the gun-phobic twerp that the party elected to be a leader of the DNC, addressed the party’s problem with Gen. Z males by portraying them as shallow morons, telling Bill Maher that they “just want to get laid,” as if Hogg has any clue what normal young men are like.

8. Commies Bernie Sanders and AOC continue to tour the country portraying the party as a Bolshevik nostalgia group, Tim Walz loses respect for Democrats every time he opens his mouth, two Congress members and the Newark mayor decide to fight for illegal immigrants and are caught on camera looking like jerks; and Jasmine Crockett continues to ensure that Democrats are perceived as the party of racial hate and division.

9. Back to Hogg: he releases this…

which epitomizes the party’s obsession with lies and false narratives. Gee, if Trump is trying to “crash the economy,” he sure is doing a lousy job of it. This is just the “Trump is a lunatic monster aspiring dictator thing ARRRRGH!” nonsense that worked so well for Democrats during the campaign.

The disappearing “people” line is self-evidently a lie and Trump-deranged spin: the public doesn’t weep for people who disappear from the U.S. only to reappear in the country they should have stayed in, nor should it. The “flagrant public corruption” is pretty much a verbal boomerang for any Democrat.

10. MSNBC has apparently decided that the mantra “this isn’t normal” will lead the Left out of the wilderness, and a dumber, more reductive, more historically inaccurate attack line would be hard to find. Yesterday I saw a promotion on the all-propaganda-all-the-time cable channel that was a montage of elected officials and MSNBC talking heads blathering versions of “this isn’t normal!” First, what do these hacks consider “normal,” fake Presidents being puppeteered by their wives and unelected bureaucrats? Unrestrained spending? Male athletes deciding they are women so they can excel at sports they were mediocre at as men? Open borders? Second, what’s so great about “normal”? When has the United States ever been satisfied with the status quo?

I have long assumed that the two major parties are indestructible, and that no third party will ever significantly impose on the monopoly Democrats and Republicans have maintained since 1860. I am now beginning to think that the Democratic Party might actually go the way of the Whigs. It has taken astounding arrogance, dishonesty and stupidity to get them to this point, but there are no signs that they are capable of reversing course.

It is kind of funny to watch, you have to admit. It’s like a Keystone cops movie. No wonder Nelson’s laughing.

  1. The total dumbing down at the leadership level has left the Dems without a viable spokesperson. If AOC, for President, is the future of the Party, they are committing self euthanasia.

  2. On #10… “I am now beginning to think that the Democratic Party might actually go the way of the Whigs.” Republican ten months from now: “Hold my beer!”

It would be nice if we could see a new party arise that would oust what the Democrats have become. But I’d bet if we see a true movement to which classic liberals could flock and thus avoid the progressive insanity of the far Left, what ultimately will happen is that movement will subsume the Democratic party. That seems to be what has happened to a great extent with the Republican Party. The Tea Party and MAGA movements have become a core of the party, displacing establishment Republicans, and even driving some of those into the Democratic Party. Of course, the progressive wing of the Democrats has done a great job of driving classic liberals to ally with the Republican party, even if they don’t officially become Republicans.

On #6, while I’m amused at a tell-all about how Biden’s mental decline has been covered up since 2020, Tapper should have been under estoppel as one of the biggest talking heads covering Biden. He’s essentially saying, “Trust me now, you couldn’t trust what I was saying then!” How do you square that circle?

  3. Seriously, what they consider normal and unprecedented shows an incompetent education about the history of our country.

I just finished the book, “Rendezvous with Destiny: How Franklin D. Roosevelt and Five Extraordinary Men Took American into the War and into the World” by Michael Fullilove. Five men sent as unelected emissaries and envoys to Great Britain, the Soviet Union and China, undercutting the Secretary of State and the U.S. Ambassadors.

Elon Musk is no Harry Hopkins, Averell Harriman, Bill Donovan, Sumner Welles or Wendell Willkie (or even a Colonel House), but he’s hardly the first Presidential advisor not chosen by the people.
