EA’s master of the long form comment has been scarce of late, but he has returned with another gem, this an analysis of the dynamic in play in LA and the White House. Here is Steve-O-in NJ’s Comment of the Day on the post, “More Thoughts and Observations on the LA Pro-Illegal Immigration Riots”:

I think what is happening here could be a bridge too far. What happened in 2020 were protests against an injustice that were quickly exploited and made to get out of hand. There was also a pandemic in place that doctors conveniently said required lockdowns except for protests against racial injustice. The president wants no part of another summer 2020, and has chosen to take action.
The difference here is that people who have no authority to do so are actively interfering with federal law enforcement doing their jobs, and making attacks on federal agents. For whatever reason, the authorities in California are a bit smarter than those in Portland 5 years ago and have decided they are not going to look the other way with regard to assaults on federal agents, probably because they know if a federal agent gets killed it’s going to be like the Marines have landed on their doorstep.
It was more than 30 years ago, but the Marines and the 7th infantry were sent into Los Angeles to stop the Rodney King riots. It was not an act of tyranny, it was the last domino falling in a domino game that started with Rodney King deciding he would break the law and speed while drugged up, then the LAPD officers deciding they would break the law and beat the tar out of him, then the jury deciding they would break the law and acquit these officers, then a whole bunch of people deciding they would break the law and riot. In this case, it’s not even a question of an injustice that was out of proportion to the original act. What happened here is people decided they would break the law and come here illegally and then remain here illegally, then the local authorities decided they would break the law and look the other way on this, then the administration decided it was time for this practice to end, but a bunch of people who hate the president and the administration have now decided that they will break the law and try to stop federal law enforcement from doing their jobs, and if they don’t stop, then they will attack them.
Even Al Capone never went so far as to seriously try to kill Elliot Ness or any of The untouchables, though he may have threatened it. Michael Collins knew he was taking a very serious risk by killing off British intelligence agents, and that was with having a man on the inside who would pass him classified information. These people sure as the devil are not gangsters trying to turn a city into their own sovereign state nor are they outnumbered terrorists trying to even the field through the use of asymmetrical warfare. They have neither the organization nor the talent. They’re also not up against a government exhausted by a recent World War.
Ironically, these are the same people who say that second amendment activists who try to hold on to their weapons will just end up lying dead in a pool of their own blood. That may or may not be true, but those who attack federal agents by throwing things at them or coming at them with improvised weapons are more likely to end up lying dead in their own blood, and honestly, they will have brought it on themselves. They might believe they are on the right side, but that does not make them bulletproof, and if they try to go a step farther and bring in thugs like Antifa and the John Brown gun club, they are likely to find out just how much better trained and more adept federal agents are. Taking on actual soldiers is just asking to die.
I certainly don’t think it’s a great idea for federal law enforcement or the military if it comes to it to use deadly force against our own citizens. However, when the choice is either that or letting our second biggest city dissolve into anarchy, the choice isn’t that hard.

It’s me again, back to make a minor point. The full video of the Rodney King confrontation showed a huge perp rising again and again to attack police officers despite all efforts to subdue him. King was soaked with PCP, and a big man (6’3″‘ and over 250 pounds) in the thrall of that drug is like, well, Michael Brown but worse. Think James Arness in “The Thing From Another Planet.” As usual with almost all of these “racist police brutality against blacks” incidents, Brown was resisting arrest, and rather emphatically at that.I am not at all certain that the LA cops broke the law when they tried to club King into submission.

Leading up to the presidential inauguration day on January 20, 2025, I wrote a post titled “On The 76th Day of Election…”. In the post, I discussed the repetitive patterns I was observing from the political left and how it was likely to lead to violence on inauguration day, but clearly I was wrong about the timeline but it’s clear that I wasn’t wrong about the outcome actions of the observed patterns.
I know, I know; predicting riots, violence, and setting fires by the anarchists wing of the brainwashed political left is low hanging fruit. Seriously folks, really think about this…
WHY IS IT LOW HANGING FRUIT!
So the political left is planning ahead…
Do yourself a favor and execute a Google search for “No Kings Mass Protest June 14” and read a bunch of the results.
When they choose to start the publicity about the protest by ginning up the lunatics with a graphic like that one above, what could possibly go wrong?
Is this more low hanging fruit?
I just do not see things going well for the United States. The veterans are also demonstrating. https://www.military.com/daily-news/2025/06/06/you-deserve-better-veterans-rally-national-mall-against-trump-cuts.html?ESRC=mr_250609.nl
One thing has become very clear to me since 2008, the left’s misrepresenting and lying propaganda campaigns to manipulate public opinion in deceitful ways has brainwashed gullible minds. It astounds me how much of the bull shit propaganda some gullible people will willfully swallow whole, you’d think they’d eventually overflow, but no, they continue to surprise me just how gullible they truly are. I guess it’s true that stupidity has no limits. Here’s a perfect example.
“Undocumented Brown immigrants.” Again, why do you read this idiot? It really could cause long-lasting health effects….
And I bet he has more readers than I do. Great, now I want to hurl myself into a woodchipper….
He’s local. Even though he’s shown me that he’s out of his mind, he does represent a range of opinions in the Madison, WI area. I think it’s good to know what locals are thinking regardless of their nonsense. He’s local low hanging fruit.
Rather telling that with Mayor BikeShorts (Dave Cieslewicz) going on sabbatical, he doesn’t recommend his readers seek their Lefty talking points from Deke, going so far as referring them to Blaska’s site.
PWS
I noticed that too.
I was shocked, shocked I say, that he didn’t recommend others to read my blog. 😉
Self-anointed intelligentsia like BikeShorts, et al, view Conservatives as misguided, uniformed, lower forms of existence who desperately need their informed guidance.
His tolerance of Blaska (IMO) hinges solely on the latter’s debilitating TDS, refusal to buckle under to Didn’t Earn It, and disdain for MMSD’s consummate, hyper-partisan stupidity.

uniNformed
That’s like one of MY typos….
“why do you read this idiot?“
Couldn’t agree more, I stopped visiting his site several years ago and haven’t looked back.
“And I bet he has more readers than I do.”
If your stomach and sanity can stand it, a quick audit of his site will dispel that thought immediately and at once!
Humphrey is a Far Lefty silo-dwelling f**kwit who doesn’t allow any comments on his site which won’t support his imbecilically myopic worldview.
His many demerits include (but are by no means limited to!) thinking that the Studio Kids Little River Pre-School adorning single digit aged children’s faces with Black Face (sans parental permission) was a real REAL neat way to celebrated Black History Month.
At the behest of Steve, he showed up @EA once to spread his peculiar brand of epically hyper-partisan Lefty idiocy (forgive the redundancy). The estimable Humble Talent handed him his bony @$$ in little pieces.
It was almost too much to take.
Almost…

Steve-O-in NJ,
Another great Comment of the Day!
The observed law breaking patterns exhibited by the political left are undeniable.
Can the United States Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine be used against United States Citizens? My understanding, there is a law that states active military can not be used against it’s citizens and only, the State where disruption is the National can be used and other States can volunteer their National Guards to be used. If so , then any language or statements made otherwise is only fanning the flames making matters worse instead of better.
You’re thinking of the Posse Comitatus Act, and it does normally say that the active armed forces can’t be used against the American homeland population. This does not include the Coast Guard, who are considered Federal law enforcement, although their jurisdiction is mainly maritime and ports and harbors. However, the Insurrection Act of 1807 does allow the active military to be used in the homeland in situations such as riots, insurrection, or breakdown of public order.
When they do this, they normally don’t participate in arrests or apprehensions (although Federal law enforcement is often just as heavily armed as they are and can (broadly speaking, there are probably all kinds of rules and protocols) go in with them or come in afterward), but they do protect property, keep the peace, man checkpoints, enforce curfews, and so on. They can be (and have been) used to break up large riots and disperse crowds. The use of deadly force is a last resort, but it can be and has been used.
The US military was used both to suppress the 1967 Detroit riots (after five days of mindless destruction and the Michigan National Guard not being enough) and the 1992 LA riots, where it took every law enforcement officer in the place, 10,000 California National Guardsmen, plus over a thousand soldiers from the 7th Infantry and the 1st Marine Division to end things.
I do not like the idea of sending the US military against our own people. That is not their primary mission. However, the final mission of all armed Federal employees is to keep American citizens safe. If local, county, state, and Federal law enforcement and the National Guard can’t do that, especially when the opposition is not even made up of American citizens, then it’s time for the military to step in.
I think I can say with certainty that most ordinary people don’t want a repeat of summer 2020. I know I don’t. There are probably some people looking at it through rose-colored glasses, but many more remember is as walking over broken glass. It’s pretty obvious that the president doesn’t want it, and now he has neither pandemic nor competing governors to get in his way. If he has to land troops in Boston Harbor, or put naval vessels on the Hudson, or have helicopters patrol over Portland or Seattle, I don’t think he’s afraid to do it, nor should he be. To most Americans respect for the rule of law comes normally. It’s something we were taught growing up. However, too many, especially on the left, grew up with the idea that somehow the law is only to be obeyed if it squares with your conscience, or even that the law is just a set of helpful guidelines, to be ignored when you would rather not obey it. It’s that kind of thinking that gets us riots and destruction and assassinations.
Yes, the riots are yet another 80-20 issue where the Woke and Wonderful are picking the losing side. Morons.
Thank you for explaining.
I saw a short interview with the LA chief of police. He had to carefully choose his words, but essentially left the message that Kalifornia’s “sanctuary” laws were impeding his abilities to do his job by limiting how he could communicate and coordinate with the feds.
