The President has sent in the Marines.
Good.
Trump is not going to let the Left hold an encore of the George Floyd Freakout riots. Illegal immigrants do not have the same sympathetic appeal as black Americans, even criminal black Americans like George Floyd. “Illegal Immigrant Lives Matter” just isn’t catchy.
Also good: that MSNBC is freaking out. The Left is determined to narrow its appeal to Americans who like riots and support illegal immigrants.
Yes, only Sen. Fetterman among Democrats has the integrity to call the riots in Los Angeles what they are. Next, I’d like him to admit that his party caused this, with its illegal “sanctuary cities,” its deliberate failure to enforce immigration laws and secure the border, and its romanticizing of illegal immigrant status.
The Mayor of LA is saying that “we” will not stand for the government enforcing its laws, but “we” will stand for the rights of rioters to burn and destroy unimpeded.
Is she the most unethical big city mayor in the U.S.? That’s quite an accomplishment, when one considers Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
Why, indeed. Newsom is doing this because 1) the “Biden” administration led him to believe that the federal government would tolerate and enable California’s insanity forever, and 2) he wants the nomination for President in 2028 even if the party continues its descent into madness.
Bass is really something, isn’t she? Blaming the riots on ICE is like blaming a fire on the fire department. If California hadn’t made the state a magnet for immigration law-breakers, ICE wouldn’t have to hold raids. This is another reason why Trump is right to send in the Marines. People as addicted to Bizarro World values and logic as Newsom, Bass and California Democrats can’t be reasoned with or persuaded.
Former actor James Woods, who has been blackballed by Hollywood for holding conservative views, is one of the sharpest wits on Twitter/X. Again, Newsom reveals himself as ridiculous.
If we are not witnessing the self-destruction of the Democratic Party, there is no justice, Americans are dumber than I thought, and the Republicans will have to do something spectacularly stupid.
I have left Twitter/X, probably forever: it’s just not worth my time and any platform that locks me out of my account for no reason won’t get a second chance. Fortunately, the tweets that I need to see or want to see are consistently posted by others.
This is ridiculous. This is enough to declare Los Angeles an outlaw City in open rebellion against the Federal government. The feds should not be afraid of either the worthless Karen Bass or the outlaw Governor Newsom, neither of them has the competence to lead an open rebellion and have it succeed. I think an example needs to be made now before others try to follow suit and turn every city into a dumpster fire. The president needs to alert the 7th light at Fort Lewis and the 9th motorized at fort Ord, or whatever their successor units are. Then he needs to pull together the first Marine division and the force Marines Pacific and tell them to get ready. He might also want to tap some of the smoke jumper teams in the western part of the US in case fires start to get out of control.
It’s one thing to throw rocks at police. It’s another to stand up against armored fighting vehicles, tanks, and assault helicopters, plus the ubiquitous M4 rifle. Senator fetterman is right, free speech, protests, and petitions for a redress of grievances is one thing, assaults on law enforcement who are just doing their jobs enforcing the immigration laws of this country is another. The United States made an almost fatal mistake 5 years ago when it let riots go on and on and on, at one point almost resulting in an assault on the White House. Funny that the same people who keep bringing up January 6th never say a word about that assault unless it is to mock Trump for being moved to the bunker, like they would have stood and fought if an angry mob was coming for them. Fake valor, that’s all it is.
The mistake was doing this now and not in 2028, when the president’s power would be at its lowest ebb, or at least next year when he would be worried about the midterm elections. As it is, president has really no reason to hold back.
Not to take anything away from your solution to this, but it is with sadness that I must inform you that Fort Ord is no longer. The ground, OK, sand dunes, it occupied is not the home of California State University, Monterrey Bay. Yeah, talk about a turnaround.
Happy Birthday, Army! 250 years and going strong. Oooooh-rah!

Dolton, IL deserves mention.

Nor is calling in the National Guard unprecedented when dealing with mob violence.
The National Guard was federalized in 1957 by Republican President Dwight Eisenhower in Little Rock, AR, after Democratic Governor Orval Faubus used the Guard to prevent black teenagers from integrating into Central High School.
“On September 2, 1957 the night prior to what was to be the teens’ first day in Central High classrooms, Arkansas governor Orval Faubus ordered the state’s National Guard to block their entrance. Faubus said it was for the safety of the nine students.
On September 4, just 24 hours after a federal judge ordered the Little Rock Nine to begin attending Central High immediately, a belligerent mob, along with the National Guard, again prevented the teens from entering the school.
Sixteen days later a federal judge ordered the National Guard removed. Once again on September 23, the Little Rock Nine attempted to enter the school. Though escorted by Little Rock police into a side door, another angry crowd gathered and tried to rush into Central High. Fearing for the lives of the nine students, school officials sent the teens home. They did, however, manage to attend classes for about three hours.
Finally, 52 years ago today, on September 25, 1957, following a plea from Little Rock’s mayor, Woodrow Mann, President Dwight Eisenhower federalized the National Guard and sent U.S. Army troops to the scene. Personally guarded by soldiers from the National Guard soldiers and the Army’s 101st Airborne, the Little Rock Nine began regular class attendance at Central High.” https://nmaahc.si.edu/explore/stories/little-rock-nine
The National Guard was activated in Detroit during the 1967 riots. Republican Governor Romney ordered the Michigan Army National Guard into Detroit to assist in restoring order. Additionally, Democratic President Lyndon B. Johnson sent in the U.S. Army’s 82nd and 101st Airborne divisions.
National Guard was activated in 1968 for the Democratic National Convention in anticipation of rioting. About 5600 Guardsmen were used at the behest of Democratic Mayor Daley.
Republican President Bush activated the National Guard during the 1992 riots in LA after the trial of the officers involved in the Rodney King beating were acquitted:
Bush called up the National Guard under the Insurrection Act, which authorizes the President to deploy the typically state-controlled military force in certain situations involving invasions or insurrections, on the third day of the riots.
I have left out one of the most famous cases of National Guard activation – the Kent State incident – because I have found no evidence that there were physical assaults by protesters against others (but there were fires) – in order to concentrate on the ones in which there was a clear threat to life.
Protesters threw rocks and teargas cannisters at the Guard prior to the shooting.

Thank you very much for that information!
Kent State is my alma mater.

California is doubling down. Their Attorney General Bonta announced that he is suing the Trump administration “As a result, I, in partnership with Governor Gavin Newsom are suing President Trump and asking the court to set aside the president’s action federalizing the California National Guard.”

So if a judge agrees with the AG, then I am really curious about what Trump and Homan are going to do.
It’s stunning how patently obvious the Dems have become in resorting to lefty district court judges. It seems to be the only lever they have to pull. Pathetic. Unprecedented. Norm breaking.
That’s a good question as it would impede the President from upholding the Constitution as he swore to do. We the People ordained the government of the United States to:
All of these the President aims to do with his dispatch of the Guard and Marines.
I am just curious for how long the Trump administration will defer to those judges. I start to believe that these judges have way more power than the executive branch; it is called judicial supremacy. My understanding is that the Constitution as written assumes equality of the three branches of government, with checks and balances between the three. Judicial review was introduced in 1803 in the Marbury vs Madison case, and has been deferred to ever since; however this decision is being interpreted as a power grab by the courts. So If the President is unable to execute his responsibilities under the Constitution under Article II, he may decide to ignore the courts, and all the judges can do is pound their gavels, preen, and scream. It will be interesting to see how this constitutional conflict plays out; as immigration and law enforcement is an 80/20 issue with the left on the 20 and Trump on the 80 side, Trump may win, permanently shifting power from the judicial to the executive branch.
At this point how unethical would it be for Trump to employ malicious compliance to a judges TRO etc. let LA burn and deny any federal disaster funding?
It is more ethical for Trump to restore law and order to LA than let it burn. Restoring law and order also sets the correct example for other governors and majors like Newsom and Bass, such as those in Illinois, New York, Massachusetts and Colorado. Please also consider innocent bystanders whose property is being destroyed or looted. And finally, having law and order makes it much easier for ICE to do its tasks.
I genuinely don’t comprehend why anyone would have to explain this.
President Trump needs to seriously look at what Federal entities need to remain in California and move everything else out. NASA’s Ames Research Center? Fold it into one of the other NASA centers. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory? Fold it into one of the other NASA centers. Defense Language Institute? Move it to another military installation. Okay, you can’t put battleships in Kansas, but much of the Federal infrastructure that’s in California can be moved. California obviously doesn’t want to be a partner with the Federal government.
I would not be against this at all.
Sometimes analogies confuse a subject and sometimes they clarify. I’ve been thinking about these riots a lot in light of a potential conversation I will have with a good friend – a reasonable but strongly left-wing friend – when he visits from the west coast next week.
My analogy is this:
Let’s say an unknown individual crosses the border – of your house – and takes up residence in your living room. The person eats food from your fridge, takes water from your faucet and clothes from your closet, and uses your credit cards for medical care and purchases from Amazon. And all of this activity is without your permission. Would that bother you? Would you think a crime of some sort had been committed?
And then, let’s say you ask the individual to leave your home, and he refuses. So as a plea for help, you reveal to some of your neighbors that a man is illegally living in your home and you want him removed. And their response is to set your car on fire, burn your place of work, cover your home in graffiti, and threaten to beat you up if you make the man leave. Would that bother you? Would you think a crime of some sort had been committed?
See, it’s always easier when it’s somebody else’s problem. It’s always easier to make someone else foot the bill. It’s always easier to support the left side of the ideological spectrum when it’s someone else’s car being torched and someone else’s face that’s on the receiving end of a balled fist.
But what about when it IS you? YOUR house? YOUR car? YOUR livelihood? YOUR family?
If my left-wing friend can only offer up platitudes or left-wing talking points, my response will probably be to (closely) quote John McClain: “you’re part of the problem…quit being part of the problem.”
IMO, the lucid would deem that a fair analogy; let us know how it’s received.
Just got a reply to a comment to an article on MSN: “Open your eyes and ears and pay attention. He is killing our country.”

Are you able to post your comment and its reply here?…or link it? I would love to read it.
“Open your eyes and ears and pay attention.”
“That’s funny; I have been, I just haven’t been paying attention to TDS news sources. The country’s not dying, the broader financial markets are almost all the way back, inflation has cooled, jobs are up, etc., etc., etc. Winning!“
