“What’s Going On Here?” I Have No Idea, and Neither Do You

Two maybe major news stories have broken on conservative news media this week, but neither of them appear in the nation’s most prestigious newspapers this morning. I haven’t checked, but I’m reasonably certain that I won’t hear about those “BREAKING!” developments on NPR, PBS, CNN or MSNBC either.

Why would that be? Well, one explanation is that the stories are fake news. The other…Come on now, you should be able to figure it out by now!

In Story One, FBI Director Kash Patel turned over to Congress a declassified intelligence report involving a Chinese plot to mass-produce fake U.S. driver’s licenses to facilitate Chinese nationals in the U.S. obtaining fake mail-in ballots that would be cast for Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 election. The intelligence reports from August 2020 weren’t corroborated or fully investigated, but were taken back from intelligence agencies by the FBI at about the time that then-FBI Director Chris Wray testified there were no known plots of foreign interference ahead of the 2020 election. Some sources report that the FBI tried to destroy the evidence. The investigation was stopped even though U.S. Customs and Border Protection intercepted nearly 20,000 fake licenses, a possible corroboration of the buried report.

Story Two reveals another stunning example of how USAID was used as a progressive agenda slush fund. The Department of Justice announced Friday that Walter Barnes III, the founder of government contractor Vistant (previously known as PM Consulting Group, or PMCG) and Roderick Watson, a USAID contracting official, pleaded guilty to a bribery scheme in which Barnes and two others conspired to pay Watson $1 million in exchange for $544 million in contracts.

But wait! There’s more!

The Biden administration continued to steer contracts to Vistant/PMCG even after it knew of the massive corruption, including an $800 million contract to study the effects of climate change on South American “migration” to the U.S.

I checked both the Washington Post and the New York Times for any hint of either One or Two: nada. Not a whiff. I really don’t know if the two stories are true, or the result of a conservative news media “hallucination,” you know, like the AI bots’ legal citations. This is why the default response of my progressive, Democrat, Trump Deranged friends to news reports like those is “I don’t believe it.”

They also didn’t believe that Joe Biden was accused of rape by one of his Senate staffers, that Hunter Biden’s computer was real, that there was no evidence of collusion between Donald Trump and Russia before the 2016 election, that the CDC and Dr. Fauci were lying about the Hunan virus vaccine, that Joe Biden was demented…oh, lots of things. The fact that we have no reliable, trustworthy, unbiased journalism is why conspiracy theories flourish: people believe that shocking information is being withheld from the public because in so many cases, it has been.

Yesterday one of my conspiracy theory-loving friend said current the buzz holds that the Epstein documents will show that Barack Obama was part of the dead pervert’s gang of celebrity degenerates, but not for the girls. This sounds like Obama Derangement slander to me, but who knows what scandals our Axis news media hushes up when it involves one of their idols? I certainly don’t.

Fired ABC reporter Terry Moran, finally able to be open about his unethical reporting biases, went on a podcast yesterday to proclaim that journalism should not be objective. We are seeing the results of that philosophy: democracy dying in darkness, paraphrasing the Post’s now-discarded ironic motto, to be regarded with the same bemusement as Google’s also discarded “Don’t be evil.

  1. “This is why the default response of my progressive, Democrat, Trump Deranged friends to news reports like those is “I don’t believe it.”’

I’ve had experience with people like this. There’s no debating with them because they don’t believe your sources. They don’t even want to look at them sufficiently to verify it themselves.

Of course, I don’t believe the Resistance Media either, so we’re stuck, as you pointed out, with no reliable non-partisan news source.

    • I don’t believe the Resistance Media (btw, I like that phrase) either, but what I will do — at least some of the time — is check to see if I can corroborate it.

I use the Wall Street Journal for a lot of it — the news staff there is mostly leftist even though the editorial folks tend to be conservative.

Not a good situation, but it’s what we have.

  2. The reportage on CCP fake licenses came from John Solomon whose reports are carefully vetted. I heard about this on WMAL.
