One of the most important and brave missions of the second Trump administration is its determination to root out the “Deep State,” or to be less portentious about it, to eliminate as many entrenched lifetime partisans, almost all progressive, Democrat and left-leaning, as possible.
What we witnessed in Trump’s first term was a literal sabotaging of democracy and the Constitution by furious partisan hacks and activists who were just certain that they knew what was best for the country, and if they had to accomplish it by cheating, manufacturing fake scandals and obstructing the President by any means necessary, so be it. Having succeed, as demonstrated by the dubious election of 2020, these nascent totalitarians were further emboldened. Next we got the passionate, Soviet-style effort to lock Trump up before he could be re-elected, the excessive political prosecutions of the J-6 idiots, the further weaponizing of the Justice Department to intimidate dissenters (as in threatening parents who dared to challenge woke school boards), and the Puppet Presidency. Who knows what would have been in store if the Left’s babbling, DEI, empty pants suit Presidential candidate with her anti-free speech knucklehead running mate had squeaked into the White House? Perish the thought.
A very much loved, very much respected, lifetime associate of mine who was a career government lawyer (and who is mad at me for alluding to his Trump Derangement here a few times) has indignantly told me that Democrat lifers in the government (like him) put aside their biases and do their jobs without imposing their beliefs and loyalties on the Republicans they despise. I have no doubt that he was that way, or at least regarded it as his professional duty to try to maintain that standard. I also have no doubt that his breed of government professional is in the minority, and greatly so.
Since it is virtually impossible to tell the Fifth Column from the trustworthy professionals, cleaning them all out is the only way. It’s like killing all the cows when most of them have Mad Cow Disease. Mad Democrat Disease is just as dangerous. Best not to take any chances. God got it in the Old Testament. He didn’t try to pick out the Hebrews who refused to worship the Golden Calf: the group was beyond redemption, so they all had to wander in the wilderness.
The courts have finally given the green light for Trump to reduce the Education Department to an empty shell. Good. It was always a sop to the teachers unions (you know, the far left, Democrat-supporting labor groups who, among other accomplishments, helped shut down the country during the pandemic, causing widespread destruction), and a magnet for steely-eyed ideologues, pushing our public schools and universities to become indoctrination factories that no longer could teach kids to read, write and think—or wanted to. It can’t be reformed, and there is no “scalpel” approach to fixing it. Bye!
Pam Bondi just fired ethics officials Joseph Tirrell, who has supposedly advised senior Department of Justice (DOJ) leaders on ethical standards through several administrations. Good. There hasn’t been an ethical Justice Department since the George H.W. Bush administration, and the Garland Justice Department was the most unethical since Clinton’s gang got away with charbroiling children in Waco while covering up Bill’s sexual harassment hobby. What the government calls “ethics” is really compliance with regulations: I learned to my sorrow over the last ten years, as I watched my fellow ethicists disgrace themselves by letting bias make them stupid (‘Nah, there was nothing THAT wrong with Fani Willis using the contrived Trump prosecution in Fulton County as a sinecure for her adulterous lover…after all, she’s trying to lock up Donald Trump: of COURSE she’s ethical! Well, ethical enough…‘) An ethics official who hung around the Merrick Garland Justice Department without resigning in protest was complicit in the ongoing corruption of that cabal. Of course he should be fired.
Of course,so should Pam Bondi, but that’s another issue.
On MSNBC, I heard an FBI agent moaning about how he and his colleagues are being forced to take polygraph tests when it is too soon for their regular security check. “It’s because I’m good friends with Peter Strzok,” he said. What an outrage! The poor, innocent guy is friends with the unprofessional, partisan, cheating former agent who made it clear in text messages with HIS adulterous lover, part of the Mueller investigation team that tried its damnedest to prove Trump colluded with Russia, that their objective was to bring down his President if they possibly could. Why would anyone suspect a current agent who thinks Strzok is the bee’s knees of not being trustworthy in a conservative Justice Department?
Democrats have, as Fonzi would say, “jumped the shark.” Communists are running for mayor and likely to be elected in New York City and Minneapolis; communists (Bernie and AOC) have become the current leaders of the Democratic Party. The old ethos of democracy is not just alien to the party now, it is affirmatively rejected. It’s going to be a long, messy process getting these metaphorical termites out of the foundations of the government, but it has to be done. If the autopen scandal doesn’t make that obvious, I don’t know what can.

“A … lifetime associate of mine … has indignantly told me that Democrat lifers in the government (like him) put aside their biases and do their jobs without imposing their beliefs and loyalties on the Republicans they despise.” (emphasis mine)
Your friend admits the truth while trying to convince you of the opposite. Maybe I’d believe him if he’d said he disagreed with Republicans or maybe even opposed Republicans. But to say you despise them? That’s across a very important line and he doesn’t even see it.
What’s worse . . . he’s making it an ad hominem about Republicans–people–rather than policies that he disagrees with, opposes, or even despises. This is another layer of being even further out there across yet another important line.
Your friend loses all credibility with me that he’s somehow being a paragon of ethical behavior when he says such things.

P.S. Of course, all of this presumes that what Jack wrote is indeed a quote or close enough to a quote from the actual person. Even if not, the point and the principle behind it remain valid even if they can’t be fairly applied to this individual.
Jack, I’m sure your friend believes, with all his heart, that he sets any biases aside and does his job based on objective facts and non-partisan professional standards. And he is almost certainly wrong. The Leftist bubble is so thick, so deep, so comprehensive, that those within are no longer able to recognize that they’re in it. The fish don’t know they’re wet. The skunks don’t know they stink.
Should they try to reach outside the bubble in order to “fact-check” the party line, they will reflexively turn to their “reliable” sources of news like the New York Times, and “reliable” sources of expertise like Harvard academics. But those are, as we well know, also part of the bubble. Voices that contradict these authorities have been equated, in their, with crackpots and conspiracy theorist, if not actual fascists.
The Augean Stables come to mind.
That’s exactly what it is.
