A few EA readers have reported getting subscription payment requests from WordPress. This is some kind of phishing scam. There is no subscription charge for Ethics Alarms,
I am one of those mentioned. I got an email from WordPress saying “Welcome to Ethics Alarms” and that I was now subscribed to Ethics Alarms.
Since then each post has been emailed to me by Word Press. Not, fortunately, all the comments, for those I have to come here.
I don’t know how I subscribed, nor does Jack. I suppose that at some point whilst making a comment I ticked a radio button or checked a box or some such, and Word Press leaped into action.
I’ve not been solicited for anything.
Alternatively, during one of WordPress’s tantrums a while ago, I signed up for Jetpack on my phone, and it recognizes me when I comment using the phone. Perhaps something there turned this on. Don’t know.
I will say that I would subscribe to this blog in a heartbeat if that was what it took to get it, but I expect I’ll continue just navigating here on my computer to read the posts.
I haven’t seen this but thank you for the information.
I haven’t gotten such emails, but are they naming Ethics Alarms specifically?
That I do not know.
