I wrote about Md. Governor Wes Moore’s long-term lie about being a Bronze Star recipient in August, when another Democratic Governor who had lied about his military service, Tim “Knucklehead” Walz, was running to be a heartbeat from the Presidency. Apparently Marylanders—Democrats? Progressives?—don’t care about politicians pretending to be war heroes when they weren’t. Interesting. I know my Dad, who was awarded a genuine Bronze Star for battlefield valor as well as a Silver Star, would have considered Moore’s lie disqualifying for public office, and I’d agree with him.
Now, as Trump feuds with various Democratic governors over his threat to send in the National Guard into their crime-ridden cites represented as otherwise with fake statistics, he’s stooped to his usual ad hominem methods regarding Moore, referencing his stolen valor history. Normally, I would regard such tactics as a cheap shot: Moore’s position on the Baltimore crime rate has nothing to do with his military record.
I’ll make an exception in his case, though. The more Moore’s despicable perfidy is mentioned the better. The mainstream media rationalized and spun this story when they weren’t burying it. Attention should be paid. Wes Moore is scum. Progressives don’t object to their elected officials faking credentials or other aspects of their life: See NYC Mayor-in-Waiting Mamdani ( who claimed to be black when he applied to Columbia) and, of course, Senator Warren, who…well, you know. The whole culture of the emerging Left is “the ends justify the means,” and apparently its supporters are just fine with that.
Tell ’em, Geena..
Moore finally got his Bronze Star last December after 18 years of saying he already had it or not correcting accounts that credited him as a recipient. Gwen Ifill and Stephen Colbert, for example, both introduced him as a recipient of the award as Moore smiled and accepted the applause. Nah, there were no political strings pulled for the phantom Bronze to suddenly be made real! How could you even suspect such a thing?
If people have their ethical values aligned properly, they should know that a weasel like Moore is completely untrustworthy, and regard all of his statements accordingly. Baltimore crime rates are falling? Yeah, tell us about the Bronze Star you claimed to have when you applied for a White House fellowship in 2006. “For my work,” he wrote, “the 82nd Airborne Division have awarded me the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge.”
Why should anyone believe anything Moore say, ever? Trump reminding the public about this guy is a public service.

He’s a slug, but Dems don’t care about stolen valor unless it’s GOPers stealing it. You still available 9/14?
“It was Fenzel who nominated Moore for the Bronze Star. That award can be given to any member of the military for “meritorius achievement” in connection with military operations. It does not represent valor in combat — that service is honored with a Bronze Star with a “V” device, which Moore was not nominated for and did not get.”
I had no idea. So, you can get a Bronze Star for doing a nice job running the officers’ club?
Sounds as if he was in fact simply a REMF given a star by another one.
The commenters at Res Ipsa are awful. He should have someone moderating the comments.
They are better than they used to be.
