I just rejoined “X” so I could pick off a post here and there, but I won’t be tricked into paying for a “blue check” again. That telling scene above just came to my attention. I was about to file it for a future “warm-up,” but decided to get it out of the way now.
At one of the stupid “No Kings” rallies Saturday, these two were asked if they supported the deportation of illegal immigrants. The guy, obviously the beta in the relationship, stutters, “Yes,” only to be admonished by his audibly sighing female companion. She then answers the same question with a “no” and explains, “It’s not illegal.”
Oh. Fascinating thought process there! Then the bearded guy, having been persuaded, almost, by her 1) dirty look and 2) her brilliant legal analysis, changes his answer to “I’m not sure.”
Which answer is worse, once we eliminate the ethical answer, which was “yes”? My vote goes to the weenie’s “I’m not sure”— stupid, cowardly, obviously insincere and still enabling law-breaking. That guy and his ilk are the ones who let the Left get away with its habitual “It isn’t what it is” strategy.
I hope the interviewer didn’t end that relationship. Those two deserve each other.
What a hilarious relationship vignette! Priceless. Run away, buddy! It’s not too late.
Do you suppose they’re married? Yikes!
I think I would go with “and” on this one.
Seriously though, if we look at it ethically, you’re right. He clearly knew the right answer and was cucked into a non-response by his AWFL girlfriend. Cowardice is not an ethical virtue, and a cowardly response by definition unethical.
The girlfriend was factually wrong, which I would deem unethical at minimum because if you really think just walking across our border and looking for a job, housing, or applying for benefits is legal, you are not only ignorant of the law but you live in an echo chamber. How does she reckon the term “illegal alien” came into existence? Some Republican plot to confuse America?
Still, being obtuse and stupid is probably less unethical than being a coward.
Cue Dean Vernon Wormer: “Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”
Heh. One of my favs.
I admire your discipline and ability to answer the quiz question, Glenn. All I can muster is, “Oh! The humanity!”
Am I the only one to think that marijuana is to blame for this kind of limp and feeble thinking?
I am inclined to believe early and frequent pot use costs IQ points, and if you just have a few over the line to begin with, sure, that level of critical thinking could be the result.
I think inhaling lefty dogma from an early age is more debilitating than smoking pot.
The second answer was to end the interrview, and get the camera away from whatever follow up argument occurred afterward. It’s one thing to answer honestly, it’s another to publicly contradict or embarrass your significant other. The latter is a conflict between the ethical virtues of honest and loyalty, as well as the non-ethical consideration of domestic harmony.
I am confused. Who in that video is acting unethically? The man? The woman? The interviewer? If the guy does not have the strenght of his convictions to say what he believes, and can be rendered inert by an icy stare from his significant other, then he lacks the ethical virtues of strength or character, duty to stand firm on your beliefs, and generally not be a frickin’ weenie.
If it is the woman, she is acting unethically because she simply cannot tolerate someone challenging her silly ideas. “No one is illegal” is vacuous and empty. Glowering at her significant other shows that she uses that tactic to bully him and mostly likely others into silence.
If it is the interviewer, it would be because he lit a proverbial fuse that could have damaged whatever relationship the man and woman had, even if that relationship is on tenuous ground anyway.

The male appears to be Indian or Pakistani. Many here of that ancestry are first or second generation citizens. He is likely a legal immigrant.
Nobody is more anti-illegal immigration than a legal migrant. They went through the proper process and are highly slighted by those that cheat.
Well, it is easy to guess why he limped away from his first resposne. He didn’t want to be left limp that night.
