Bill Gates, nerd and “on the spectrum” sufferer that he is, also has the advantage of being sufficiently rich that he is insulated from Leftist fury when he defies wokist cant. Today the climate change scam collective is presumably freaking out because Gates has issued a memo saying, in effect, “Oopsie! What a stupid I am! I let a bunch of agenda-driven scientists and lying (or ignorant) activists convince me to waste billions of dollars on their dishonest hustle! Oh well, live and learn…”
Over the years Gates has pledged at least $2 billion to various anti- climate change initiatives through his investment firm, Breakthrough Energy, and pledged an additional $1.5 billion in 2021 to make climate change-based improvements to the U.S. infrastructure. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is also spending over $1.4 billion on climate change related projects. But leading up to yet another “summit” on climate change next month, Gates has released a long statement on his website rejecting the fearmongering of his buddies on the Left.
“Although climate change will have serious consequences — particularly for people in the poorest countries — it will not lead to humanity’s demise,” he wrote. “People will be able to live and thrive in most places on Earth for the foreseeable future.” Ready for Marlon’s most ironic appearance ever? Here goes:
Yes, the Mad Left will be horrified at the revelation that human life is not doomed to roast in the near future unless we sentence ourselves to a bleak existence.
In his statement Gates calls for redirecting resources towards helping the poor and assisting underdeveloped nations, rather than his previous mission, following the likes of Greta Thunberg and Michael Mann, of turning the United States into an underdeveloped nation.
Just four years ago, the New York Times and other climate change propaganda organs whine today, Gates published a book titled “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster.” “Tuesday’s memo appears to amount to a major reframing of how Mr. Gates, who is worth an estimated $122 billion, is thinking about the challenges posed by a rapidly warming world,” sayeth the Times.
Ya think?
“I didn’t pick that position because everybody agrees with it – it’s I think intellectually the right answer,” Gates told CNBC. That’s Ethics Hero stuff, though, again, Gates is so rich he doesn’t have to care what people say about him, much like Elon Musk. Billionaires, you see, contrary to the hate spread by the likes of AOC, Mamdani and Bernie Sanders, can do a lot of good from their position of power, and often do. Yes, even George Soros, now and then.
After quoting Gates as saying, “If given a choice between eradicating malaria and a tenth of a degree increase in warming, I’ll let the temperature go up 0.1 degree to get rid of malaria. People don’t understand the suffering that exists today,” (No, Marlon, you had your chance already!), the AP rushed out to get rebuttals from climate change hucksters who see their sinecures vanishing before their eyes.
“Every bit of additional warming correlates to more extreme weather, risks species extinction and brings the world closer to crossing tipping points where changes become irreversible, scientists say,” lied the AP. Not all scientists. “Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, called the memo “pointless, vague, unhelpful and confusing.” Then came the cant: “There is no reason to pit poverty reduction versus climate transformation. Both are utterly feasible, and readily so, if the Big Oil lobby is brought under control.”
Yadayadayada.
Gate’s devastating memo appears just a week before world leaders gather in Belém, Brazil, for the United Nations annual climate summit. Gates has attended and supported the event in previous years, but won’t be participating this year. He’s got better things to do. You should see his sock drawer!
I had a hard time deciding how to introduce this story, ultimately settling on Bruce above, from “Die Hard.” There were so many options from the Ethics Alarms Hollywood Clip Archive to choose from. Such as Fredo, of course…
or this one…
since Ethics Alarms has been calling BS on climate change hysteria for over a decade, and I didn’t even have to spend billions of dollars to know hype when I see it. There many other strong candidates, but the runner-up to Bruce was ultimately Nelson Muntz, because his mockery is what I would love to aim at all of my hysterical friends who swallowed the climate change propaganda whole over the years.
You know:
“risks species extinction“
Species extinction?
In 1979, a dam (the Tellico) on the Little Tennessee River was 95 % completed when a little bugger called the Snail Darter was found to be in the way.
Funniest thing; the Tellico Dam wasn’t needed for power generation or for flood control. What WAS needed was a sop to cement contractors who (suffering mightily from late 1970s high inflation, stagnant economic growth, and high unemployment) needed some…um…attention; it was cheerfully, if cravenly, supplied by a rising Volunteer State political star.
The newly minted Endangered Species Act (ESA) was presented with its first challenge.
A “God Squad” was empaneled, and was tasked with issuing waivers based on the cost/benefit analysis of completing projects where ESA designees had the poor judgement of residing in the way of, you know, like, “progress.”
Whether “settled science” was invoked is unknown, but that’s not the point.
David Brower (whom some call America’s greatest environmentalist,): ”This was the beginning of the end of the Endangered Species Act.”
Now, who was this Mother Gaia ravaging/God’s Creatures Murdering/ESA list annihilating up-n-comer?
The name Al Gore, Jr. ring a bell?
Wonder why no punches ought be pulled with the Nobel Laureate, Grammy & Oscar-winner? Wonder no more.
Anyone who needs further convincing, read the Jeffery St. Clair (Counterpunch.org: The Fearless Voice Of The American Left Since 1993) brutal treatise: “Al Gore: The Origins Of A Hypocrite.”

It’s like the second coming…. always supposedly imminent, but never quite arrives…
And there isn’t even global warming or client change. Just normal variation.
The State of the Climate 2024
Sheesh.
Hah! Climate change, not client change. But client change is a real problem.
It will be for me if I don’t spend less time on Ethics Alarms and more on billable work….
Why do these people feel that Big Oil is the Big Bad?
Yes, the climate is changing.
It’s always been changing.
We’ve been in a long cycle of warming.
Been that way for a few hundred years.
We aren’t *causing* climate change.
If we’re “contributing” to it, it’s only minimal.
The most we should be doing to anticipate the affects of climate change is:
Buying more air conditioning (which even Europeans and their self-claimed superiority in all things modern are buying in record numbers).
Preparing for human migratory effects (which we are already seeing: When the earth warms, populations and ease of food production gradually shift northwards. When the earth cools, populations and ease of food production gradually shift southwards. These population shifts show up as migrations and also as invasions (the Viking expansion was largely a result of the planet cooling and they needed to move away from the north AFTER a warm spell that allowed their population to grow significantly)
Concern over climate change is less about the survival of the human race and more about anticipating geopolitical shifts that affect national security strategies.
The two countries that stand to benefit the most from climate change are Canada and Russia.

WHY???? Why WordPress???? WHYYYYYYYYYY?
You showed this being formatted as an *outlined* list and then you published it as a blob of text.
WHY!!!!!!??????
The risk we’re facing:
We believe that we’re the outsized source of climate change.
We believe we must then take proportional response to climate change either in the form of stopping our current lifestyles virtually completely (well, except for the elites) OR taking counteractive measures to “change climate back”.
IF, however, we are indeed NOT the cause of climate change or are only a minimal contributor to climate change (and I’m 100% convinced of this), THEN, any “counteractive measure” we agree to take, will have, by mathematical definition FAR WORSE affects on the environment than the supposed evils we’ve been doing OR will merely pose to be completely ineffective at everything but wasting a boondoggle of money.
Our climate scientists are very rapidly looking more like the mad scientists of lore and even worse demanding we become mad engineers to “fix our problems”.
