Also res ipsa loquitur.
There is no excuse for this and those tempted to defend it should staple their lips shut and super-glue their fingers together.
Quick points that should be obvious:
- Trump has a political death wish exemplified by his determination to make his most irrational foes look like they have a good point about his character.
- The man literally doesn’t know how a President of the United States should act, or if he does, doesn’t care, which is worse.
- His administration’s many missions are too important for him to jeopardize them with petty, ugly, breaches of decency and dignity like this, just to satisfy a personal grudge against a man who just had his throat cut by his son.
- What an asshole.

Agreed. He is now harming his Republican successor if there is to be one.
That only is true for those potential successors who refuse to condemn this and his other atrocious remarks. The man has shown time and again that he is unfit for any public trust.
I want to believe some have agreed to serve in his administration with the hope that they could have some influence in ameliorating his worst instincts. My optimism diminishes daily.
The mind boggles. Political death wish pretty much covers it. Tragic.
Well, if I may def..mmmmm mmmmmmph mmppphhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(a little attempt at humor, where there is none. Lord help us…)
Immediately, my imagination conjured the event of this POTUS having his lips and fingers superglued together and the “assailant” going down in history.
Now, me, being trivia-minded as I am, recalled the meme showing Spock giving the split fingered Vulcan sign with the legend “Don’t play with Super-glue!”
I think this could be an interestingg case study on how Trump derangement works in the opposite direction too.
He’s a tar baby.
Whether the contact involved falling for the con and worshipping him as the Orange Jesus while draining one’s bank account to buy Trump Coins, a cynical kiss on the posterior in hopes of being rewarded with power and riches, or the brain worm of the classically Trump Deranged, the fruit of the tree is ultimately bitter. May those who have paid their Trump University tuition in whatever coin learn their lessons.
I don’t know that any further commentary was needed. It is res ipsa loquitur.

I will say that those who celebrated Charlie Kirk’s death are have zero leg to stand on complaining about the President’s response. Having said that, the President’s response is just about the jerkiest, lowest-class, hit-below-the-belt response he could have given.
The Fifth Amendment gives every American citizen “the right to remain silent.” President Trump should exercise that right every chance he gets.
Idiot…
True, and even with his indefensible post, at least Trump didn’t mischaracterize Reiner’s many statements. The “ding dong, Kirk is dead!” celebrants, in contrast, based their hate on false characterizations.
Oh, Good Lord…Whyyyyyy?
Important to stay on brand! No notable deviations from brand detected….
Gratuitous insults, check! Abrupt changes of topic and tone, check! Making everything all about Trump, check! Reference to Gold or Golden, check!
Potential improvement: Could have had a FEW MORE ALL CAPS words. And maybe throw in some random comments about snakes, windmills, or sharks? But I guess those “weave elements” are more of a speech ramble ornament…
Well, apparently the Madison, Wis. law prof with Democrat tendencies has commenters who should wear bags over their heads. All most half of Ann Althouse’s gang thinks Trump had a right to slam a particularly relentlous and unfair critic, which Reiner was. https://althouse.blogspot.com/2025/12/trump-accuses-rob-reiner-of-causing-his.html

As John Paul notes above, there’s more than one version of TDS…
Yep. The very embodiment of a learning curve so flat it could be a NIST standard.
or the Department of Education.
I am not sure which Reiner post to put this on, so I will do the latest one.
any mention of Rob Reiner reminds me of the Shriner’s club roast of him.
my favorite was when Triumph the Insult Comic Dog came up.
my favorite line; “What happened to you? Even David Crosby thinks you let yourself go!”
wanted to post a link, but having trouble with YouTube

What happened to Triumph? Was he “cancelled”?
I think Triumph disappeared into copyright purgatory when Conan O’Brien was fired by NBC.
I used to admire the fact that Trump didn’t stand for abuse or just try to remain silent in the face of insults like George W Bush did, but this is going too far. It’s one thing to say that an enemy of the United States like bin laden or Soleimani is dead and that’s a good thing. It’s quite another to sneer that a political rival is dead, even one who had gone as far out of the realm of reality as Rob Reiner had. I never liked Reiner as a person, and I was beginning to find his constant political posts wearying, but I didn’t want him murdered. It’s a tragedy when family turn against one another, but it sounds like something like this was inevitable because his son just could not get his head on straight. I have no sympathy for his son and I hope he sucks the pipe.
[I fixed a very funny autocorrect typo in this comment, Stave, and will regret it for all my remaining days….]
Thanks, but I’m not a staff. 😀
Ha. I bet you didn’t even notice the typo.
‘fraid not.
I thought so! Your comment originally read in part, “It’s quite another to sneer that a political rival is Dad…
In contrast, Ex-president Joe Biden came forward to extend his sympathies to the victims of the recent university shooting. He said it was long past time that students at a historically brown college should have to fear such racist attacks.
He really said that? Wow. Just when I thought I wouldn’t be surprised by any idiotic thing politicians say I am once again surprised. (I’m not surprised by Trumps rant. Of course he typed the most idiotic thing he could come up with.) I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised about Biden either. He’s not any better with keeping his yap shut.
I believe WR was being sarcastic, but it’s rather telling that, owing to Biden’s past verbal ejaculations, it’s not outside the realm of plausibility.

As far as I can determine, the “historically brown” bit is a joke, but Biden did initially reference the wrong shooting in his first comments about Brown.
President Trump does what he does “best”, when talking, or writing, about Rob Reiner without out a teleprompter Trump opens his mouth to change socks. Trumps mouth is a loose cannon and has been for years, I’m quite tired of it.
As for Rob Reiner; he was a great actor and director but his political views were so far out in left field that there was no hope of ever bringing him back to reality. Reiner should have kept quiet when it comes to politics, it tarnished his legacy.
