“The Ethicist’s” Tender Feelings for Law-Breaking Neighbors and Illegal Immigrants

Maybe someone needs to check Prof. Attiah’s citizenship status…

A New York Times reader (and you know what that usually means…) writes to “The Ethicist”…

“About a year ago, a very nice family moved into the rental home next door. We have shared food and invited them to our pool in the summer, and we always exchange greetings from yard to yard. About six months ago, the father’s auto-shop location apparently became unavailable. He and his mechanics now work on cars in their yard and driveway. At times, 15 cars line their driveway and fill the front yard, in obvious states of repair — hoods up, engines removed. This “shade tree” business practice is illegal in our city, and the number of cars and the manner in which they are parked violates city codes. We and our neighbors worry it’s driving down the property value of adjacent homes, and we plan to sell within a few years.

I’m uncomfortable raising this with the family because I doubt they can do much without losing income. Moving to a new garage would obviously be costly. And if I talk to them and the outcome is unsatisfactory, I’d be the obvious culprit for any report to the city. Our friendly terms would disappear.

I’m also reluctant to report because the family is from Venezuela. (They mentioned having green cards, though I never asked.) I’m afraid that even a code violation could draw attention from ICE, which has an aggressive, unpleasant presence in my city. Thoughts?”

Yeah, I have some thoughts:

Fact: MS NOW, aka MSNBC, Is Entirely A Leftist, Woke, Untrustworthy Anti-Trump Propaganda Operation [Corrected!]

…and anyone who admits to using that network for news should be ashamed of themselves, as well as ignored when they opine on political issues.

Just when I think the news media cannot get more biased, unprofessional and dishonest, something like this happens…usually on CNN, MSNBC, or in the New York Times.

MS NOW used an AI-enhanced image of Alex Pretti, the anti-I.C.E. activist who was killed by a U.S. Border Patrol agent during an immigration enforcement operation. Naturally, the faked photo made him look better than he really did, a public opinion manipulation tactic as old as photography and unethical to its core. This is cheap Cognitive Dissonance Scale game-playing, because “lookism” is embedded in our DNA. A nicer-looking figure is more likely to land in positive territory on the scale than a fat troll: remember how much sympathy there was online and in the media for the handsome young terrorist who maimed all those innocent people in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing? The alteration of Pretti’s image was subtle, but the point is why do it at all? Anything to make attacking Trump and supporting open borders more persuasive, I suppose.

Wisconsin’s Governor Perfectly Exemplifies The Pro-Illegal Immigration Mob’s Logical, Legal and Ethical Disconnect

Ponder this brief news item from the state’s WBAY. I’ve footnoted it for reference and easy mockery:

“MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) – Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers says he’s “very concerned” about immigration officials targeting farm workers, [1]especially as ICE arrests ramp up across the Midwest.

“Evers says his team is keeping an eye [2] on Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s presence in the state.

“According to the most recent data, a University of Wisconsin-Madison School for Workers survey found 70% of the labor on Wisconsin dairy farms is performed by people living in the country illegally. [3]

“’I can probably say in my sleep [4], our state will be destroyed economically if suddenly we decide anybody undocumented [5] is going home or has to leave [6]Wisconsin,’” Evers said.

“‘When asked if ICE is welcome in Wisconsin, Gov. Evers said he doesn’t see the need for the federal government to come here.'”[7].

“He believes the state can handle immigration enforcement itself.” [8]

Riddle me this: How many internal contradictions can one fit in a single news article?

Incompetent Elected Official of the Month, Ethics Villain Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Gaza)

We will know that the nation is recuperating from The Great Stupid when voters no longer elect anti-American members of Congress like Tlaib and her fellow infiltrator, Rep. Omar. This week Omar and similarly corrupt Democratic Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal chaired a so-called hearing, completely partisan and without balance or dissent, regarding lawful activities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Minnesota and the death of activist Renee Good when she interfered with their efforts, almost running over an agent with her car. Tlaib decided it would be an ideal time to pitch a hissy fit over the image above, Department of Homeland Security recruitment post.

We will have our home again!” the Congresswoman said as she displayed the photo. “What does that evoke in you when you see this? It literally, when I see it, as a Muslima, as a Palestinian, as a child of immigrants, I see that this is something that is evoking like I’m not welcome here.”

“The Great Stupid” Meets Trump Derangement: Two Quotes

[Just thought I would re-post a past example of the “logic” and level of analogies being embraced by I.C.E. protesters…]

Quote #1:

“Why did you have real bullets?!”

Becca Good, the wife of dead activist Renee Nicole Good, after witnessing her wife’s shooting death by an I.C.E. officer.

This has to be one of the stupidest quotes Ethics Alarms has ever covered. It demonstrates how estranged from reality so many of the anti-I.C.E. and Trump Deranged protesters, demonstrators and activists are. On MS-Now, the pro-multiple sclerosis news channel, a bizarre anti-gun nut deemed worthy of a position on a televised panel discussion said this…

Yes, why do law enforcement officers carry guns (with real bullets!)?

The real questions should be…

1) “Why do crazed progressives think that it is reasonable, justifiable, ethical or safe to interfere with lawful law enforcement activity?”

2) “How did American citizens, some of them of above average intelligence, get the bonkers idea that interfering with I.C.E. operations wasn’t a crime?

3) “When will CNN, MSNBC and other news outlets stop giving a platform to “experts” and elected officials who tell their audiences that Rachel Good was “murdered”?” That position is completely contrary to known facts, as well as court decisions. This morning I heard some asshole saying that on CNN with no contradiction or push-back from the host whatsoever. The host even said “Thank-you.” Thank-you for misleading our dim-witted audience members and helping to put both Federal officers and stupid protesters (who might not expect them to use real bullets) in jeopardy!

Quote #2: (the letters in parentheses are mine, to be referenced in my commentary)

Unethical Speech of the Month, and Probably the Year: Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey (D)

Unlike President Trump, DFH and Jacob Frey, I am not going to comment on what really happened that resulted in a “middle-aged white woman” being shot and killed by an I.C.E. officer after she deliberately used her vehicle to impede law enforcement activities. I will comment on Jacob Frey’s inflammatory, irresponsible rant in front of TV cameras, because I heard the whole thing, and was incredulous throughout. Points:

Interestingly, the New York Times has ignore Frey’s diatribe, and concentrated on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz more measured response. This suggests to me that the Axis believes that Frey went too far, and the less focus on it the better.

1. If President Trump’s tone and rhetoric were as deliberately provocative on January 6, 2021 as Frey’s were on January 7, 2025, I would have been more inclined to back the special prosecutor’s argument that Trump was trying to start an insurrection.

Ethics Observations on the Hampton Inn I.C.E. Freeze-Out In Minnesota

Surely you have heard about this craziness (and ethics breach) by now; it was mentioned in the comments to this EA post yesterday. A post on the official Homeland Security X account revealed that reservations made at the Hampton Inn in Lakeville Minneapolis, a suburb about 25 miles south of Minneapolis, by I.C.E. officers had been cancelled with a message suggesting that they were not welcome at the hotel chain. The DHS post included a copy of the email with the sender and recipient redacted; indeed, it stated the property would not host immigration agents.

In an abundance of caution, I decided to wait to determine “What’s going on here?” What was going on here is that a bunch of rogue woke morons decided to grandstand in anti-Trump, pro-illegal immigrant, pro-Somali immigrant scoundrels Minnesota, where they think up is down, black is white, War is Peace and unethical is ethical.
