PETA has a new poster out, announcing with approval that Carrie Underwood, Tyra Banks, Oprah Winfrey and the First Lady are “among the most stylish and influential women in America,” and “they all refuse to wear real fur.”
The poster can be seen in Washington, D.C. Metro stations as part of PETA’s “Make D.C. Fur-Free” campaign. But the First Lady, prominently featured, never agreed to be part of the promotion.
PETA President Ingrid Newkirk says the group didn’t seek Mrs. Obama’s consent because they know that she can’t make such an endorsement.
Ah. So they just used her image in an ad without her permission, dishonestly indicated that Mrs. Obama has approved and is involved in a campaign when she is not, and represented the First Lady in a manner the group knows is prohibited.
Has there ever been an organization with “Ethical” in its name more habitually UNethical in its operations?
I wish I could say I was surprised. I think that people who are absolutely certain they are right are the most likely to do something wrong.
I agree with Jeff. This is the problem I’ve always had with absolutists, of any stripe (even the ones who agree with me).
Well, when it rains, it pours:
