Unbelievable.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg now supports a ballot measure to restore the city’s term-limit law to two terms, the limit he voided to ensure his own third term by asking the City Council to approve a measure that allowed him to run again.
Bloomberg, you may recall, claimed in 2009 that he supported three terms for himself, because he was best prepared to lead the city through tough fiscal times.
But nobody else. Bloomberg is special, you see. Limits that apply to everyone else shouldn’t apply to him. He’s the only individual who should be mayor for three terms.Or so he obviously believes.
Voters will consider the new-old limits next Tuesday. Bloomberg spent millions on his campaign for a third term, as he had to overcome strong opposition by those who believed Bloomberg was pressuring the City Council to comply with his political desire to stay in power instead of allowing the repeal of the two-term limit to come to a public referendum.
The Mayor’s lack of integrity, respect for process, and shame, not to mention modesty, is mind-blowing. He’s special, all right…but not in the way he thinks.
Just another big city mayor! This one just happens to be a billionaire and own his own cable network.
