…I will be a guest on NPR’s “Tell Me More” with Michel Martin this Friday morning to talk about ethical issues raised by the Penn State.
Of course, by that time, Jerry Sandusky may have given another creepy interview confessing that he always wanted to be a Catholic priest, it will be discovered that Joe Paterno not only gave ownership of his house to his wife to avoid paying liability damages, but also has left the country to rule a colony of fanatic Penn State boosters in Guyana, amd Mike McQueary may have sent out an e-mails revealing that he is really Marie of Rumania.
You never know.
The show will be broadcast live at 11 AM, East Coast time, and my segment will begin around 11:20.
I actually am curious what you sound like, but by that time, I’ll be in Canada volunteering for an annual charity gaming telethon.
Maybe next time.
If I remember correctly, NPR does archive its broadcasts, so you can probably catch up later.
I’ll be there.
Infuriating? Nope. Thought provoking? Yes. I am an NPR fan. I hope I don’t miss it.
What’s the frequency, Jack?
Tell Me More is one of the segments I listen to via Stitcher. Looking forward to hearing your segment!
Guyana, heh-heh. Yep, Jonestown. I called the station in my locale; Tell Me More airs at 9 p.m. It’s been too long since I last enjoyed a fireside chat.
You have shown your true colors(red, and more red) as a pinko commie. Untrustworthy to the fullest for clamoring onto that socialist program. Clearly, you’re in the tank for Obama.
Just trying to bring some balance to our tax-payer supported media…
You’re giving them an air of credence they don’t deserve. Anyway, now that the Blaze isn’t deriding athiests, everyone knows the only balanced media remaining is Fox News.
That must be why they never call me.
Wouldn’t that be red and white? Or red and light gray?
Red and white is the American flag without the blue states, so that can’t be right, and grey doesn’t exist. It’s only right and wrong, no in between.
Where’s purple in all of this?
No real man would be caught dead in purple. Maybe some of those San Francisco Princess Pelosi Commies.
I don’t think you understand what socialism is, tgt. I don’t think the government controls NPR anymore than some corporations control FOX. Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity remind me of Joseph McCarthy and his cronies. Glenn Beck’s prophesies only come true when he spins the outcome the right way. Sean Hannity works by yelling over any guest he disagrees with. I’d rather see a guest flub up on his own merits than getting into shouting match. Poor Bill O’Reilly. His history is not that good either. The thing that disappoints me…… is the other networks don’t bring in the other side to debate anything. I think it is really funny that the comics get their facts straight more often than many of the pundits. I am glad there is a NPR. If the station is biased, I still watch and listen to a variety of stations and read a variety of different biased stories on both the left and right. If I only watched Fox like some people do, I think my brain would ooze out my ear. They don’t educate at all, however they are at times entertaining.
Government paid = socialism. You cannot refudiate my bumpersticker.
Glenn Beck used to be one of the few sane people left. I can only hope the Blaze’s recent leftwing articles are an aberration due to Beck being shunted aside. I may be only left with David Barton.
You are right that the comics get their facts straight. Ann Coulter is my Dream Girl, and Dennis Miller has become a revelation. Do you remember his “Spruce Goose” comment on the Ravens’ MNF Football game in 2000? I had to look it up, but it combined war planes and fat people, so it was awesome.
I can’t believe you would slanderously libel Fox news. They bring liberals on, and they attack the president, too!
So the police forces, military, national forests, national parks, all the government departments, senators, congressmen, fire departments, the FBI, and the list goes on. Government paid=socialism?
Yup, they’re all wasteful socialism. Give Bill Gates and the Koch brothers the Military, and we’d already own all the oil controlled by those backwards Jihadis. CEO’s get things done; they don’t apologize for their organizations’ success.
Senators and Congressmen? That’s only supposed to be a part time job for concerned citizens. Throw all the bums out.
Fat people? Looks like most of Beck’s audience didn’t miss a meal. Ann Coulter is funny and funny looking! Dennis Miller only knew about the Pittsburgh Steelers. I thought he was funny in the booth at first, then he just seemed get in the way.
Being big just means you have more food on your table. You don’t see any a them somalis complaining about the problems of obesity.
Ann Coulter is the perfect female. She’s like Chuck Norris with ladyparts, under her chin is another fist.
I don’t think Mr. Norris would appreciate the metaphor. He is more patriotic than she will ever be and has a lot more class. I don’t think he would talk like her even if he dislikes liberals. He was a military man and still respects the office regardless of who is the president. Unlike some left and right wingers.
You are correct that Lord Norris is the epitome of class, distinction, and awesomosity, but you definitely misunderestimate Lady Coulter. She is the Yin to his Yang. She says what he is thinking. A muslim foreigner doesn’t deserve no respect anyway, and needs to be condemned when he usurps the power of this great nation.
…well that came and went in the blink of an eye.
Good to hear your voice for once, Jack.

Good segment. Too bad it wasn’t longer. You’re right. Alot of people just don’t get it. They think they would do the right thing in all circumstances. History just doesn’t prove that.
I liked Joe Paterno for his values. I am very disappointed that he didn’t react in these circumstances. In fact I was surprised. I feel, not only because of his notoriety, he had more of an obligation than anyone else did. It was his program and his former peer in that sport. He deserved to be fired!
Hey Jack, remember how all those people misconstrued your post about why McCready didn’t do more to stop Sandusky? Well, it looks someone in the comments section of NPR’s website has joined the party. My god, the next time someone claims that you’re trying to defend McCready, I’ll just respond with two things; A. “Unless you’ve been under a similar situation yourself, it’s impossible to really know what you would do under such a circumstance”, and B. “Jack Marshall is justifying McCready’s inaction in the same way the Stanford Prison Experiment justifies prisoner abuse; AKA NOT AT ALL!”

ARGHHHHHHHH!!! I don’t have the stomach to read that any more. It drives me nuts. Michele had to ask me that question with 5 minutes left in the segment; but I had to answer honestly–you can’t say he “had” to intervene physically, which is why a law is impossible.
