What’s that, Reese? You say your head spun around? Ok, then I take it back–that really wasn’t you talking…
Actress Reese Witherspoon interfered with police in the process of their arresting her husband for DUI, and got arrested herself as a result…but not before displaying the tell-tale mark of an arrogant celebrity, the old “Do you know who I am?” threat. As the officers tried to handle her allegedly drunken hubby, Witherspoon interjected, “Do you know my name?” When the officer said, in effect, that he couldn’t care less, the star of “Legally Blonde” retorted with “You’re about to find out who I am … You are going to be on national news!”
Now, in the light of day, sobriety, and the realization that her Q points may be in danger, Witherspoon has responded with a Full Pazuzu (Pazuzu is the demon that caused poor Linda Blair to say all those awful things in “The Exorcist”), saying:
“…I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior.”
Well this is the first instance of boorish Hollywood behavior for Reese. Drunk people shouldn’t talk..ever to the cops. Aka Mel Gibson complex.
1st instance is immaterial. That’s why it is called signature significance.
Thank you.
So using your logic Rush Limbaugh’s abusive behavior with prescription abuse with Oxycotin is signature significance? And your opinion of that person now is?
And Bill O’Reilly’s abusive behavior of female subordinates is signature significance. And your opinion of him now is?
Why don’t you actually read the various expositions on signature significance before misusing the term and embarrassing yourself? No, an individual getting himself addicted to pain killer is not “signature significance.” Why? Because it could happen to anybody….the fact that it happens once doesn’t signify anything about an individual’s character.
On the other hand, if the allegations about O’Reilly are true, I think an argument can be made that his abuse of female subordinates, even once, was signature significance, and can’t be dismissed as “juts one mistake.” Why? Because men who respect women don’t abuse them, EVER, at least not as women.
Why do you yank two conservative figure out of the blue for your poor excuse for an argument? Are you really suggesting that Tex uses a different standard for signature significance for the right than for Hollywood actresses? Because if so, that is unwarranted, unfair, and a cheap shot.
Thanks Jack. Work has been busy as of late. Springtime does that to Landscape companies. I haven’t been able to be too involved other than quick one liners here and there.
He pulled two conservative figures out because he likely has made several assumptions about me and hopes to catch me in some sort of double standard.
Rush is a pretty intelligent guy and has a knack for guessing which way the leftist media and democrat party is planning on going in terms of messaging based solely on current behavior. As for his show, I stopped listening to him a few years ago, I think. I don’t much care for his style. I feel bad for his addiction.
As for the O’Reilly allegations, I’m not familiar enough with the story to pass judgment. If he has harassed women, then indeed that lessens my opinion of him.
The cop should have said, “I know who you are. You’re that psycho chick from Freeway!”
“You’re that chick from ‘The Bridget Jones Diary’, right?”
The only thing that enrages a self-important celebrity more than someone not knowing who they are is being incorrectly identified…
Great answer. Best laugh of the day…
It looks like the writers at The Onion might be fans of Ethics Alarms.
What she should have said “please sir, can you take me through the back door?”
What you never do sober or drunk is come back with some smart answer to a member of the law enforcement, who is in control, and who has a gun.
Where’s old Hollywood? Remember reading about the ones that would join the military or sell war bonds…oh wait, there are no war bonds for sale….
Take it from me, never tell the cops you’re famous.
At least she didn’t use the time-honored “Why aren’t you out catching burglars?” line.
All that is missing is her complaint to IA that the officer gave a wise-crack answer to her serious question….
She is famous and pretty so of course she deserves to be treated better then everyone else.
