My apologies to all.
I was on the road in Chicago preparing for a marathon musical ethics seminar for a tough crowd (PhD lawyers), and got up early to get some posts up, then was occupied until the wee hours with work and travel. I just checked the blog, and all sorts of arguments are breaking out everywhere, new comenters are stuck waiting for approval, and chaos reigns.
Clearly, I picked the wrong day to try earning a living: I’m sorry for the delay and neglect. Moderation, responses, refereeing and clean-up will commence. I may need to appoint one of you moderator pro tem in the future.
Any topic that includes the word “Gay” will attract the attention of many, whether or not they are gay, Christian or even like sports.
President Obama broke the gay barrier last year (reversing his position on gay marriage, and repealing don’t ask don’t tell in the Military) and the response has been impressive.. I doubt that even gay advocates could have predicted such a tidal change of opinion.
I’m not the most consistent voice in the comments, but make no mistake, I haven’t got a life. If you need a hand with moderation, you can call on me most any time.
I will contact you about this, Ed. I can’t imagine someone better qualified. Thanks.
Well Jack, pick hot topic national issues like equal treatment under the law for everyone, and you get run-a-way threads.
I for one am still trying to analyze how the Applebee’s post generated such traffic. Apparently approval of violating privacy is a hot topic national issue as well.
I have a policy: anytime a post here has more than 20 comments before I get to it, stay the hell out of the comment section. I’m assuming it’s served me well.
Not a bad strategy. Unfortunately, I don’t have that option.
