I’m pretty confident of this designation, and if the previous post hadn’t speculated on the most unethical judge ever, I might have given this the Worst Meme of All Time title. I may yet.
Almost all political memes are misleading, dishonest, irresponsible or so dumb that you want to strangle the Facebook friend who posted it. If anyone sends you the meme explaining how to make a Bernie Sanders glowstick, however, skip the strangling and call the cops on him. This meme is potentially deadly.
Let me defer to Snopes, which deserves credit for its rapid response:
A meme directed at Bernie Sanders supporters, purportedly offering them instructions on how to create homemade glow sticks, started circulating on social media in May 2016…The instructions given in the above-displayed meme don’t create glow sticks, however, but rather explosions. Mixing chlorine and isopropyl alcohol creates a violent chemical reaction, which (when it is confined to a sealed container) has dramatic, potentially dangerous results. A video posted by the Backyard Scientist in 2013 demonstrates this chemical reaction. [ Here Snopes posts two videos showing the violent chemical reaction]…
The exact origins of the above-displayed meme are unclear, but one of the first mentions we were able to uncover was posted to the /pol/ section of the web site 4chan in March 2016. The meme was shared again in May 2016, along with a message encouraging forum members to spread it on social media in an apparent attempt to prank Bernie Sanders supporters:
Hey guys! Let’s trend this on Twitter and my FaveBook. Even though I like Hillary the mostest I still think this is a fun idea for a truce between the Democrat groups! Who’s with me!?
Hehehehe
“Hehehehe.” Morons. That’s 4chan for you, a past Ethics Alarms Unethical Website of the Month. In that post, I described 4chan as evil, and this meme is evil, to be contrasted with this typical Move-On/Occupy Democrats/ Others of Their Ilk meme I batted away today on Facebook…
… which is just misleading, dishonest, irresponsible and dumb, but oddly persuasive, apparently, if you are a progressive, in denial, and about 11.
The intriguing question is, which candidate does the individual who divided this plot to blow up Sanders fans favor? He or she can’t be a Trump supporter, because it is unlikely that any Trump supporter can spell chemistry, much less use it.

I hope valkygirl got the mess cleaned up in her living room…
4chan would probably be upset with you that you only gave them unethical website of the month, and not the year, or possibly all time.
Hopefully there are no confirmed cases of people falling for this?
FYI, this is not the only time they’ve done something like this, it’s popular esp on the more general boards like /b/. Ranging from trying to get people to stick their iPhones in the microwave to getting a spoon to explode in your hand.

I won’t include the link for the spoon one as iirc it contains pictures of an er visit of the aftermath that someone posted.
4chan is…very strange.
“Hopefully there are no confirmed cases of people falling for this?”
I hope not, but after seeing people microwaving iPhones, pour Dawn Dishwashing liquid and alcohol on their steps to melt ice, and other things, I fear that someone may actually try it.
