Site In Transition: Sorry For The Inconvenience!

If you tried to see the site in the last hour minutes or so, you probably noticed that it was a mess. I have upgraded the WordPress subscription so I can, among other things, have more design flexibility, have my own ads to try to finance this project, and some other features….it might also get around the blog’s inexplicable Facebook ban. The problem was that my old theme had been “retired,” so when the software shifted, it didn’t adapt, causing the text to run off the page. It took me a while to a) discover this b) figure out what was going on and c) fix it. (My son helped.)

The current design is temporary, but at least it is readable. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I think this is a positive step for Ethics Alarms.

  1. I noticed. I was so confused, I rended my garments and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the Gory household.

    Oh, the humanity!

  2. I figured it was my old cell phone. But then it settled down so I figured you were experimenting with a new template.

  3. Wow, I thought I had come to the wrong site, or the Russians had finally caught up with you.

Glad to see neither were true.

And there is something to be said about the clean look. It is much more … to the point, I guess.

  4. I had to scroll around to find the breadcrumb links to adjacent posts, as they are no longer at the top, at any rate in my environment.

I wouldn’t have mentioned it, only I wanted to post a test message to see if the upgrade has effectively blocked me by requiring impractical settings, e.g. requiring undesirable stuff to be enabled. Many sites’ upgrades have done that, I have found.

  5. Look at Jack changing everything…It’s so liberal of him. Back in my day, we didn’t have these fancy blogs with our fancy WordPress. We had to use our soapbox and liked it.
