Let Us Have A Moment of Appreciation For The Rude, The Vulgar And The Defiant, For They Are America’s First Line Of Defense Against Totalitarianism

Oh, how I love this about Americans!

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a new program to help protect New Yorkers against the Wuhan virus outbreak. It’s quite straightforward, really: report your neighbors to authorities.

“We still know there’s some people who need to get the message,” the city’s socialist mayor said on Twitter.  “And that means sometimes making sure the enforcement is there to educate people and make clear we’ve got to have social distancing.”
The simple solution, he explained is to snap a photo of an offending person or crowd, set the location on the image, and  “text it to 311-692.”

“Action will ensue,” de Blasio promised.

History has taught us that governments seeking to bend the public to its will “for the greater good” usually seek the cooperation and participation of citizen lackeys eager to ingratiate themselves with their ascendant masters. Fortunately, the United States was settled and created by people who came here to escape presumptuous tyrants and oppressive governments not of their choosing. The contrarian RNA and traditions run deep, and it always gives me a thrill to see that while they may have been diluted a bit over time, in the face of those who either do not comprehend this nation or do not respect its unique values, the old defiance flames forth.

Thus I am proud to report  that deBlasio’s new rat line has been overwhelmed with “dick pics,” extended middle fingers, embarrassing photos of the mayor, like when he  dropped the Staten Island groundhog, and news coverage of him violating his own directives by going to the gym.  One user sent the message “We will fight this tyrannical overreach!”  Another texted “Fuck you!” along with a meme showing Adolf Hitler and the words “TO THOSE TURNING IN YOUR NEIGHBORS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES — YOU DID THE REICH THING.” “Start flooding their reporting text numbers with this pics!” the rebel added.

Then there was the photo of a bowl of gummies  in the shape of penises with a sign reading, “EAT A BAG OF DICKS.”

Good.

As I have noted before, some misconduct warrants extreme contempt, and sometimes extreme means and extreme rhetoric may be necessary. We are seeing too many elected official and bureaucrats exploiting  the extra power the pandemic is affording them, and enjoying it a bit too much for comfort.

You know what makes me feel safe? When elected officials who start emulating totalitarian governments  are told  to “Eat a bowl of dicks!” or words to that effect.

Addendum: After I posted this, I read a post by Bryan Preston on the same subject. His post concluded,

[I]t’s inspiring. A month under house arrest lockdown hasn’t made Americans timid about getting in our politicians’ grills and giving them the business. We’re no more enamored of authoritarians in office than we were a few weeks ago. This 30- or 60-day trial of living in a police state hasn’t made us serfs yet.

  1. Nothing better than an in your face expletive to your authoritarian. Given that this is a public activity wouldn’t the calls be required to be archived for history?

    A show host from Fox called the number to report the homeless on the subway to test it. Nothing happened.

    But it seems like drones are being primarily employed by states that have severely curtailed 2nd Amendment rights…

    I am old enough to remember when the lockdown was said to be two weeks.

    I am old enough to remember when the lockdown was to be extended to April 19th.

    ‘Flattening the curve’.

    When this piece of jargon came into the picture I knew we were screwed because now it’s become something else.

    Fuck you, we have to save every single life.

    Funny how all of a sudden everyone is a fricken humanist wanting to save every single life. I bet you most people who fall into this category are also climate change cultists who think humans are the problem for ‘earf’.

    Truth? In my lifetime and experience? No one ever gives a shit about two groups: The elderly and Veterans. Every single year we’re treated to stories of the atrocious conditions of old folks homes and how Vets have no services in BOTH my country of Canada (run by a bunch of cucks’n clowns paralyzed by their identity politics gulags) and the USA.

    But all of a sudden they care.

    Not saying we shouldn’t. Of course we have to throw everything we’ve got at caring for all. But shutting down an economy is preposterous to the point of complete irrationalism disproportionate to the problem.

    • You know…we keep seeing lots of articles about how clear the water is and how nature is returning to cities virtually shut down and how LA and India have no smog….

      Would it really surprise us if this was used as a stepping off point for climate change tyrants? Could this be the reason why motorboats aren’t allowed for social distancing in Michigan, but canoes are?

  4. Americans are getting an idea of what “From each according to his ability to each according to his needs” really means. It means others decide what you need, not you. It means that production shifts to meet the needs specified by those in authority. And it means that you can’t leave your house for a walk without Mrs. Kravitz calling the secret police.

The real test, I think, is how much effort the governments promoting these police state tactics will put into finding the vulgar, treacherous, resentful, dick-pic senders and making an example out of a few to see what happens to the level of legitimate resistance after public raids a la Roger Stone.

  7. There is a great deal of conversation [cyberspace] as to why and what is happening is happening. That is to say why it is that our government or governing structures are doing what they are doing. Is it totalitarian political control’? A sort of giant coup or the imposition of something like martial law? But if that is happening Who is doing it and Why?

    The conversations that are going on in cyberspace swing from paranoid fantasy to genuine expressions of befuddlement and confusion but always with some attempt to explain, in balanced terms, what is going on here and why it is going on.

    The interesting thing is in the examination of the suspicions; of ‘being in the dark’; of being the subject (as they say) of something that looks like military or intelligence planning, and that in relation to very powerful and *tyrannical* business interests. Consider for example the speculations about the connection between the Gates Foundation, the W.H.O. and ‘Big Pharma’.

    How odd it is to be here on this ‘patriotic’ blog. Here most only see the US and its governing structures in the most rosy light: like in one of those great American films that are referred to often here. The US is seen as ‘a force of good’ in the world and something (metaphysically) necessary. But yet here we get a glimpse of something that is darker, and also frightening.

    So, is this all an elaborate plot by those pesky devilish ‘Democrats’? And the administration of DT is ‘fighting the good fight’ against these usurping forces? Those who are ‘paranoid critics’ of US government and its machinations paint a very different picture. This is ‘para-governmental’.

    Those who deal in these *paranoid theories* connect this event (the use of it) with the subtraction of civil liberties after 9/11 and the use of forms of fear and terror to control and direct people.

      Since that wave of panic, United States intelligence agencies have assessed that Chinese operatives helped push the messages across platforms, according to six American officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to publicly discuss intelligence matters. The amplification techniques are alarming to officials because the disinformation showed up as texts on many Americans’ cellphones, a tactic that several of the officials said they had not seen before.

      That has spurred agencies to look at new ways in which China, Russia and other nations are using a range of platforms to spread disinformation during the pandemic, they said.

      The origin of the messages remains murky. American officials declined to reveal details of the intelligence linking Chinese agents to the dissemination of the disinformation, citing the need to protect their sources and methods for monitoring Beijing’s activities.

      The officials interviewed for this article work in six different agencies. They included both career civil servants and political appointees, and some have spent many years analyzing China. Their broader warnings about China’s spread of disinformation are supported by recent findings from outside bipartisan research groups, including the Alliance for Securing Democracy and the Center for a New American Security, which is expected to release a report on the topic next month.

      Two American officials stressed they did not believe Chinese operatives created the lockdown messages, but rather amplified existing ones. Those efforts enabled the messages to catch the attention of enough people that they then spread on their own, with little need for further work by foreign agents. The messages appeared to gain significant traction on Facebook as they were also proliferating through texts, according to an analysis by The New York Times.

      American officials said the operatives had adopted some of the techniques mastered by Russia-backed trolls, such as creating fake social media accounts to push messages to sympathetic Americans, who in turn unwittingly help spread them.

  8. Even in my Red state, cities with Democratic officials are shutting down churches. The city of Moore, OK has forbid a pastor from letting his parishioners drive into the parking lot, listen to the service on their car radios, and watch him preach. This, like other church shutdowns across the country are unconstitutional, but you see what they do first. You see what the government targets are. I can’t even find a parking space at Lowe’s on the weekend, but you can’t drive to the church parking lot.

  9. Nice post. I continue to be amazed how docile and scared the vast majority of the American populous appears to be. And absolutely terrified of death. Keith Olbermann before he went nuts: “So and so is currently listed as ‘day to day.’ We’re all just day to day.” Woody Allen playing … Woody Allen in one of his movies: “I want to become immortal by living forever.”

If your messaging — and your behavior — inspires resentment that causes people to resist and ignore public health messages, then you have failed at your job, whatever the amount of scientific knowledge you bring to bear.”

  11. It’s fun to speculate about which of the founders would have sent a dick pic to King George III, if the technology had been available. Not Adams, Washington or Jefferson… perhaps none, being gentlemen of their time. I do think that if a young revolutionary officer like Aaron Burr were to do so, an amused Benjamin Franklin would only very lightly condemn him, for ungentlemanly behavior.
