This claim is deceit, like “I did not have sex with that woman” (“because I don’t consider blow-jobs ‘sex.'”) A school does not have to teach the technical “Critical Race Theory” as it was originally formulated by Derek Bell and other politically-motivated academics to be teaching the substance and assumptions of the movement, which is that the United States is a racist nation and that white supremacy has been and continues to be a primary force causing systemic inequality and oppression of black Americans.
Weingarten and other progressive indoctrination proponents know this very well, and the deception is deliberate. Slavery, Jim Crow and the struggles of the civil rights movement are history, and legitimate topics for study in the schools. Using those historical events to advance a narrative of racial guilt and continuing oppression of African-Americans is not history, but sinister and divisive child abuse. The cavil that such a curriculum isn’t literally CRT is misdirection, and the fact that one of the major teachers unions would engage in such deceit is signature significance.
The Washington Examiner has highlighted two lawsuits aimed at a Chicago area school’s CRT-based teaching. The reports are here and here. In my metaphorical back yard in Loudoun County, Virginia, to argue that the furious debate over the schools’ “antiracism” curriculum isn’t about Critical Race Theory (it’s just about condemning all whites as racists and the United States as an agent of evil in the world, that’s all!) is gaslighting, and Loudoun County’s “woke” indoctrination mechanism is far, FAR from unique. OK, let’s pretend the schools aren’t teaching Critical Race Theory, just Marxist ideology, anti-American propaganda and Black Lives Matter advocacy. Oh! That’s all right then!
No, it’s not. What does it mean when the head of one of the nation’s largest and most influential teachers associations engages in dishonesty on the level of Weingarten’s? Only this: we can’t trust teachers, we can’t trust the schools, and we can’t trust the local, state and national agencies that regulate the schools.
Now what?
UPDATE: [Pointer: Steve Witherspoon] The Biden Education Dept. handbook for re-opening the schools links to a CRT-pushing group. Lest this be shrugged of more Fox News conspiracy theorizing, as soon as the administration was caught red-handed, it sent Fox this: “The Department does not endorse the recommendations of this group, nor do they reflect our policy positions. It was an error in a lengthy document to include this citation.”
Oh! It was lengthy! Well, that explains it: who would be so unfair as to expect DOE to thoroughly check what it circulates to school districts when the material is lengthy.

Ethics Alarms 
Well, maybe the fact she’s lying about it means the teachers unions are on the run. A few weeks ago, she’d have said CRT is essential to the curriculum of every school in the country.
A few weeks ago, my niece, a substitute teacher in an affluent school system that votes largely Republican, complained about parents threatening to pull their kids out of school so they wouldn’t have to learn about “racism”. Her reaction was, “Fine. We don’t want racist students anyway”.
Nice. Yikes.
I came to the conclusion that one could not trust teachers in general when I was in middle school and the teachers were either an active part of the bullying or ignored the bullying I recieved. In high school, I regained some confidence in teachers as I had some good ones. In college, I experienced as many good as bad. After college, I saw what my local school district could not accomplish (putting kids in community colleges with a chance to succeed and/or teaching kids to believe in their gifts, instead making even gifted students think that they are too stupid to succeed in life). This last year, my school district turned out a bunch of students that could not get above a 24 on the ACT. The teachers I talk to as friends are burnt out, saying that the students and parents are impossible. The students I tutor are disillusioned with learning and say that their teachers will not help them even though they are trying to get help (and end up at my door). I look at state and national teacher stuff like this, and am extremely convinced that homeschool is the only option, which I have put into practice in my own life with two of my children. (The other two aren’t old enough for school yet.)
It seems to me that anything short of a major exodus from our school districts and the major legal battle over the homeschooling that is sure to follow (after the 2019-2021 school years, school districts near me have been trying to push legal boundaries and many homeschooling parents have been making the most of our HSLDA memberships) will find us, as a nation regressing in education and only advancing indoctrination and stupidity.
That is a bald-faced LIE! They literally included the reference in their documentation therefore they literally endorsed it.
The beauty of the method that the Education Department used for distributing this is that original document was down-loaded by many educational facilities and you can bet your bottom dollar that the feds will not go back and force those that downloaded it to replace the original document with the updated document that does not have their “error” reference. A link like that does not get into a document for public distribution like that as an unknown “error”, it was a very, very intentional inclusion. Someone had to go out of their way to physically type that into the document and content proofers allowed it to remain. The endorsement is already out there now and since it comes from the Education Department educators will follow the “directive”. This has been one of the left’s go to methods of distributing their propaganda, send it out to the masses, maybe get caught by the political right, maybe be forced to issue a limited statement that only a small segment of the public will see because it will not be covered by the left leaning media. This is a win-win for the left, they get to distribute their propaganda and only be forced to correct themselves to those that are paying attention, their sheeple will never know.
Hanlon’s Razor should not be applied to this statement and that is EXACTLY what the Education Department is asking the public to do with their statement “It was an error in a lengthy document to include this citation.”. They are liars.
Anyone that believes any part of that statement from the Education Department as fact is a very special kind of stupid. Bias does in fact make people stupid.

In my opinion, the only “error” the department made when they included the Abolitionist Teaching Network reference and link was an error in judgement. They are now lying over and over again to the public to cover up their intentions but as DeVos points out, based on their actual actions, their intentions are pretty darn clear.
Also; as far as I can tell, there is still a news blackout on CNN and other left leaning news sites regarding this story. I wonder if they’re having social media platforms block discussions on this topic like they did with the Hunter Biden story.
Their brazen silence is another narrative they’re pushing, it’s a deafening silence.
About the Abolitionist Teaching Network that the Education Department linked to; Anyone or any group of any kind that openly states “Whiteness” is a form of “oppression” is an anti-White racist, period.
It appears that being an anti-White racist or anti-White proxy racist these days is “acceptable” race based persecution. Martin Luther King Jr. must be turning over in his grave.

Length in intellectual endeavors is a form of white oppression. As a matter of fact, intellectual endeavors of any sort are per se a from of white oppression. “Lived experiences” are all that matter.

This kind of a weird twist from the 1980s where at least in my state (California) everybody in education was focused on teaching self esteem to children and teens instead of the outdated three Rs. Now the thing is to indoctrinate white students with guilt over their supposed white supremacy and unconscious racism. No wonder homeschooling kids is becoming increasingly popular amongst educated parents.
