IIPTDXTTNMIAFB are the Ethics Alarms initials for “Imagine if President Trump did X that the news media is accepting from Biden.” There have been more of these than I could possibly keep up with. Part of the anti-Trump myth was and is that he lied constantly; there was even a Washington Post data base purporting to catalogue his “lies.” I examined the list, and as I expected, the vast, vast majority of the lies weren’t lies at all.
When Biden entered the White House, the news media showed no interest in cataloguing his lies, though this President has an impressive record in that regard, with such epic episodes as pretending that a British politician’s life was his. The lies have continued, and if one adds the mendacity of Joe’s paid liar, Jen Psaki, it is more impressive still.
Does Biden lie as often and as flagrantly as Donald Trump did? I haven’t checked; there sock drawers to organize. It has to be close, though. You can’t rely on the recent collection of Biden “false and misleading claims” Washington Post factchecker Glenn Kessler was moved to post, because it is obviously incomplete. For example, Biden has repeatedly claimed that a Capitol Hill cop was killed in the Jan. 6 riot despite multiple sources pointing out that this is false. Kessler didn’t include it on his list.
I shouldn’t have to explain this, but to imply that a list contains all of Biden’s falsehoods when it does not is itself a falsehood.
The White House tweet above, however, was so flagrantly dishonest that even Kessler was offended, though not offended enough to flag both halves of the message. The second half is a blatant half-truth: employment improved, but only because it had been artificially (and stupidly) savaged in 2020 by the forced closings of schools (led by Democratic mayors and governors) and the lockdown of the economy, followed by the Democratic Congress making it profitable not to work by paying citizens more than some of them were earning in their jobs. Once schools re-opened, allowing parents to get back to work, and the draconian shuttering of businesses ended, any President would have been guaranteed a huge spike in jobs. It’s something even Biden couldn’t screw up. He didn’t have to do a thing.
Kessler’s focus is, instead, on the claim that there was no vaccine when Biden took office. Biden himself got his first shot of one of the vaccines developed while Trump was President on December 21, 2020, a month before he was sworn in. To be fair, Joe probably forgot.
it is apparent that the Democrats’ primary strategy to stave off electoral disaster in 2022 and 2024 is three-pronged: demonization, distraction, and lies, while relying on the news media to support all three.
