I’m being pummeled by ethics annoyances left and right, and I don’t have time tonight to do them all justice, so here are some matters that deserve attention, even if I can’t give them enough…
1 A new IIPTDXTTNMIAFB! Imagine if President Trump had said something a ridiculous as Joe Biden today announcing that the price of gas was “five dollars” when he took office, claiming he had brought the price of gas down. The news media would be calling it a lie, or claim that it was proof that he needed to be replaced under the 25th Amendment. My guess is that Joe wasn’t lying, he just was confused.
2. Talk about unfit for office...New York Gov. Kathy Horchul made two jaw-dropping statments in the lat 24 hours that demonstrate that she is without a clue regarding society, civilization, and human development, as well as proving that she has the instincts of a totalitarian.
Last night, when confronted in their debate by Republican challenger Lee Zeldin over the state’s controversial bail reform law, Hochul responded to his complaint that criminals were not going to jail under the Democratic Party’s policies, including the state’s controversial bail reform law, she responded, “I don’t know why that’s so important to you.” It’s a mystery! Why would anyone want criminals off the street? Then today, announcing new mandatory health regulations, she justified masking requirements for students because “children are used to masks.”
Oh, I’m sure children can get used to all sorts of things: child abuse, shoes that don’t fit, racial indoctrination, non-heterosexual propaganda, red armbands. Masks impeded socialization and social interaction, facial signaling, speech and communication, but hey, as long as they get used to it, no problem!
I know nothing about Lee Zeldin, but Horchul cannot be trusted with a governorship. If New Yorkers elect her, with all of the evidence she’s provided of manifest incompetence, they deserve what they’ll get.
3. I LOVE these protests! In the latest idiotic stunt by climate change activists, a protester glued his head to “Girl With a Pearl Earring,” the famous painting by Johannes Vermeer that was on exhibit at a museum in The Hague today. This was supposed to draw attention to…. climate change. Sure, why not? These are ignorant hysterics who understand neither government nor science nor pubic policy, and their completely useless demonstrations have no chance whatsoever of prompting the policies the fools favor. Yet the public tantrums are vivid reminders of how illogical and irresponsible climate change fanatics are, so I love them. Let them continue. Cognitive dissonance, which the protesters probably have never heard of, is a powerful deterrent of bad ideas. When advocates for a policy appear to be nuts, it justifiable makes one hesitant to join the cause.
Not to belabor the obvious, but the U.S. equivalents of the head-gluers are respected members of the core Democratic Party base. One would think that sound minds in a party leadership would be troubled by this.
4. Ethics Alarms will be rejoining Twitter as soon as Elon Musk is firmly in charge. Musk’s task is a tough one: maintaining some semblance of civility on what is the equivalent of bathroom stall walls for some people without censoring viewpoints and controversial opinions. I quit Twitter when it embargoed the Hunter Biden laptop story, which exposed it beyond a shadow of a doubt as a Democratic government propaganda organ. Twitter has banned some genuinely disgusting people (Alex Jones, David Duke) as well as former President Trump, but oddly, no disgusting progressives, of which there are many on Twitter. Meanwhile Twitter employees sent Musk a “demand” that he not fire anyone. In response, he fired CEO Parag Agrawal and two other executives today. A general housecleaning is in order, and will certainly come. Good.
5. I know I mention “The View” too much, but this is irresistible. As part of the media freak-out over polling today that showed the GOP taking the lead in all of the “toss-up” Senate races, the ignorant ladies of The View emoted over Herschel Walker’s lead in Georgia, with Whoopi Goldberg arguing that he was just a token black face, being cynically exploited by Republicans. Here’s the funny part: wagging a metaphorical finger at the GOP, Whoopi actually said,
“We know what you are doing. Okay? We know what you are up to, but we don’t just go get people because they look the right way. We actually have to find the people that can actually do the damn job. That’s what we want.”
Sure, Whoopie. Kamala Harris. Karine Jean-Pierre. Ketanji Brown Jackson. Their color played no part in their being selected for their jobs. None at all. None.
Ethics Alarms 
I am just hoping that Whitmer goes down in flames. Michigan is a nice state (I went to school there) and it deserves better than such an odious person. Hochul would just be the cherry on top.

Apropos of none of those stories, I just finished reading ‘A Simple Plan’ by Scott Smith. You had mentioned it a coupled months ago, that the movie was an ethics movie.
I will say that it is an engrossing story, and absolutely an ethics tale. The only way it could have been more obvious would have been if there were a sign by the plane the narrator encounters reading ‘Warning: Slippery slope. Enter here!’
As you progress through the story, one has to wonder — could something like that possibly happen to me? And, how could he let himself get sucked in like that, step by step.
Now I’ll go back to a nice, wholesome story — ‘The Civil War’ by John Keegan. Hehe — if he covers it to that level, I bet Keegan knows which side the Wilder brigade fought on.
#3: There’s something missing in the coverage of these protests, and that is the word “extremist”. The organization “Just Stop Oil” wants an immediate cessation of fossil fuel production, which would lead to hundreds of millions if not billions of worldwide deaths within a year or two. They are a pro-genocide group. It’s hard to imagine how anybody’s views could be more extreme. Yet they are described merely as “activists”. “Extremist” is a word reserved for people like <checks > the democratically elected Prime Minister of Italy.

1. No doubt about it. Biden could call the sky purple and wouldn’t be called out for it.

3. This is why we can’t have nice things. Nothing is sacred when you have an extremist agenda to push.
4. I’d take some time first to make sure Elon is up to the challenge before going back. Maybe I’m overly cautious – and, admittedly, I’ve never been on Twitter – but maybe watch what Elon actually does rather than what he says he’ll do.
5. Such a lack of awareness of her party…and she’s the smart one on the show!
4. Am I just supremely naive to think that Twitter’s policy could be very simple?
“Any language that is threatening or promotes violence is not allowed.”
I guess you have draconian laws in Europe and other places that makes that impossible.
As I have watched these protestors glue themselves to walls and floors I have decided that the only effective response is to leave them there. Remove any objects nearby that could be damaged or thrown, announce that you support their right to conduct peaceful protest and don’t want to deprive them of that right. Then leave them glued to the wall and post their responses several hours later when they are begging for a bathroom or someone to please remove the glue from their hands.
I resisted making the obvious joke, but many did, which was to rename Vermeer’s painting “Girl with Pearl Ear Ring and Protesters Glued to Her”
Look up the recent VW protest in Germany where the brilliant planners glued themselves in front of a hybrid Porsche.

Where are the staff at these art museums when people are attempting to destroy (and failing, fortunately) priceless works of art? Maybe the first couple of times, the element of surprise is at play. When it happens several times a week, that excuse wears thin. From he looks of these extremist idiots, all of whom are likely on a high soy content diet, it doesn’t look like you’d need an ex-Special-Forces veteran to prevent them from accomplishing their goal. You could probably halt them merely by hurting their feelings.
No, clearly it’s something other than their colour. Just look at their first names (Kamala Harris, Karine Jean-Pierre and Ketanji Brown Jackson), and it will become obvious; they all start with the same initials: K, K, K.
