The Navy Joan Saga: Famous Grandchildren Ethics #1

Forget about the laptop and the influence peddling for the nonce, and let us all focus on Hunter Biden’s latest display of character, or rather the lack of it. Lunden Roberts, the mother of Hunter Biden’s 4-year-old love child (or one of them; you never know with this creep) wants to change  her daughter’s last name to Biden. Hunter has tried to avoid paying child support for her daughter—who is also his—after earlier denying paternity until he was forced by court order to submit his DNA for testing. He has reportedly never bothered to meet her. Yet the Black Sheep Biden is opposing the name change in court on the theory that it is not “in her best interests.”

Admittedly, the mother’s claim that the name “Biden” is “ synonymous with being well educated, successful, financially acute, and politically powerful” is subject to debate. Biden DNA automatically makes one a legitimate suspect for inherited idiocy. However, Hunter’s assertion is if she carries the Biden name she will never have a “peaceful existence.” I have some sympathy for that argument: as I noted in the item about Lisa Marie Presley’s oppressive life of unsought celebrity [#3], many children of famous people suffer terribly by living under the shadow of notoriety. However, I knew Elvis, Elvis was a freind of mine, and Hunter Biden is no Elvis. If my last name were Biden I’d be tempted to hide my head under a bag. Still, Turley, who is really disgusted by this latest Hunter story, is probably right when he writes that the child “is clearly better off with the Biden surname, particularly in establishing the very connection that Hunter, Joe, and Jill Biden seem committed to conceal or ignore.  Navy Joan is the grandchild of the 47th President of the United States. That alone makes the change beneficial. Navy Joan will be able to benefit from the cache of that connection in applying to college, seeking employment, and other pursuits. It also establishes (despite the efforts of the Bidens) that she is part of the family’s legacy.”

Hunter Biden doesn’t want the public constantly reminded that he is an irresponsible creep, for the same reason that Herschel Walker tried to conceal the existence of some of his offspring conceived in one-night stands. He’s not interested in Navy Joan’s best interests, but his own.

Turley seems especially disgusted at the girl’s treatment by her grandfather and grandmother. He writes,

The position of Hunter in court has been disgraceful, but the media has largely ignored the matter. It has also ignored the utter lack of support from President Joe Biden and the First Lady, who tellingly omitted a stocking for Navy Joan as one of their grandchildren. (The dog and cat did receive stockings). There is no record that Joe or Jill Biden have ever sought to meet, let alone embrace, their grandchild. The President has, however, sought to deny the child security protection (despite his son’s concern for her “peaceful existence”). Joe Biden has long campaigned against “deadbeat Dads” but when a Fox reporter asked about Hunter’s refusal to pay child support, President Biden snapped at him and refused to answer the question on the “personal matter.”

….The obvious effort of the Biden family in this filing is to preserve distance from this child.

Nice. But completely consistent with the ethics and hypocrisy of the Biden family.

Oh, Jack, this is such an awesome and well-deserved burn on the Biden family, particularly the President. The tragedy is that it is far more true than ad hominem.

  2. The recent eruption of classified documents in Joe’s garage and his (and the obedient media’s) referring to his “beloved” Corvette has grated on me for a somewhat tangential reason. Joe’s always claimed to have been from a poor, hardscrabble, Scranton, Pennsylvania family. But his father gave him a brand-new Corvette for a wedding present? Whose father does that? And his boys had the engine rebuilt? Just another gift? What a great life Joe’s had. Everyone’s showered him with gifts the entire time. And was that a good idea to have a nearly eighty-year-old sitting president of the United States driving an over fifty-year-old convertible at a hundred and twenty miles an hour? With no roll bar?

I’d have some sympathy if anyone other than Hunter was the one making it. The best self-serving statements are the ones that happen to also be true.

Honestly… I don’t understand the Biden family’s take on Navy, I mean… Let’s assume, rhetorically, the worst: Let’s assume that Lunden was a gold digger. That she did everything in her power to conceive Hunter’s baby because she wanted the meal ticket. Let’s even assume that she named her child “Navy” in the hopes that someone would Google “Hunter Biden Navy” and learn about his dishonorable discharge…. Well…. One of them, anyway, maybe two in this context.

Whatever… What’s the argument against welcoming a grandchild into the family? Embarassment? Having a grandchild born on the wrong side of marriage can’t possibly be any more embarrassing than having hunter Biden as a son. Not wanting to give money to Lunden? They’re doing that anyway. I don’t understand this.
