The Colorado Education Association (CEA) has approved a resolution produced by the union that states, “CEA believes that capitalism requires exploitation of children, public schools, land, labor, and/or resources. Capitalism is in opposition to fully addressing systemic racism (the school to prison pipeline), climate change, patriarchy, (gender and LGBTQ disparities), education inequality, and income inequality.” A previous draft, apparently edited to avoid being too transparent in revealing the educators’ Marxist agenda, called to replace capitalism with a “new equitable economic system.”
Nice!
But wait…there’s more!
Spectator World discovered that Evanston High School (near Chicago ) is racially segregatedadvanced placement math classes. At least five courses for “ either black or ‘Latinx’ students” were described on the school’s website. Once its illegal efforts were found out (The 1974 Equal Educational Opportunities Act prohibits deliberate segregation on the basis of race, color, and national origin), the school quickly acted to cover its tracks.
How? Deny and lie, like any good revolutionary. It explained that while it is proud of its work “increasing access’ to advanced placement math classes for black and “Latinx” students, it does not restrict classes to students based on their race or ethnicity, it just seemed to say so in its online course listings until a conservative website noticed.
“We do not have (and never have had) a process that restricts students from taking AP classes based on race. No ETHS student is restricted from taking an AP class based on identity or is required to take any class based on identity,” ETHS said in a statement. But in the course syllabus copied before it could be changed, the school’s description of the “Algebra 2” course stated it was “restricted to students who identify as Latinx.” Now it reads, “While open to all students, this optional section of the course is intended to support students who identify as Latinx.”
Parents. communities and elected officials, as well as the news media, though it is probably allied with these efforts, unethically allowed the corruption of the public school system with ideological indoctrination to reach this dangerous state through their collective apathy, misplaced trust and lack of diligence.
Now what?
ARRRGH! I had this post up and ready to be published hours ago, but I forgot to hit the publish buton the second time. I hate that…
“In capitalism, man exploits man. In socialism, it is the other way around.”
It’s still early here in sanfransicko and I’m just catching up on today’s postings. If only you could be a woke-whisperer and bring them back to rational thought and socially acceptable behavior. I have half an urge to go stand on the busiest corner on Union Square and hold a sign saying “The world isn’t ending–it’s already dead and we’re just waiting for the funeral.”
Although I am helping homeschool my two grandsons, I am still confident that our local (county) school system is substantially “woke free,” for several reasons. One reason is our community values which are overwhelmingly conservative to moderate with only a smattering of loonies from our local (church affiliated) university and a few legacy Democrats. The second reason is aware and involved parents, grandparents and other taxpayers who keep the school board accountable. School board meetings are always packed, even when there is not a hint of controversy in the air. There are also a lot of parent and grandparent volunteers in our schools who keep up with everything that is going on in the classrooms. The third reason relates to funding. In my state, unlike many others, the schools have no independent taxing authority. School funding comes from both state government and county government, but even the state money flows through our county legislative body, which has authority over the budgets of all county departments including our schools. The school board regularly gripes about this oversight but it helps keep them in check. Once the school budget is passed, the school board manages it, but our budgeting procedures make it very hard to spend money on Y when it was allocated for X, without going through a formal and public budget amendment process. This process can seem cumbersome at times but keeps everyone honest about how tax dollars are being spent. The power of the purse shouldn’t be overlooked for keeping a check on the spread of evil woke ideology.
I just rescued this from Spam, Jim. Comment of the Day.
Thanks, Jack. My later comment was merely a truncated version of this one, made after I saw that I had apparently offended the gods of WordPress in some manner.
“CEA believes that capitalism requires exploitation of children, public schools, land, labor, and/or resources. Capitalism is in opposition to fully addressing systemic racism (the school to prison pipeline), climate change, patriarchy, (gender and LGBTQ disparities), education inequality, and income inequality.”
This reminds me of a saying to the effect of: it takes a smart person 10 times as long to refute an idea that an idiot can come up with in minutes.
In two sentences, the CEA made at least 15 questionable assertions. That was just enough to get me to give up on any sort of rebuttal.
And, that is how it works. They throw out a word salad that they may not have thought through (or even understood). It takes more effort than it is worth to refute it. So, they think their unopposed ideas must be correct.

Unfortunately, the CEA statement could just as well be the mission statement for the present-day version of my college. Our 50th class reunion (the anniversary of our having graduated from the college [hah]) is next month. The onslaught of fundraising emails has been overwhelming and relentless. Most of my classmates are successful capitalists- lots of lawyers, physicians and MBAs. Why would or should any of us donate any of our acquired wealth to an institution dedicated to the destruction of the American economy that has so wonderfully benefitted all of us schmoes over our lifetimes? But some guys are all excited about the class gift and giving to the college. I resent even the money I have to pay for the rubber chicken dinners. What are these guys thinking? Don’t they realize what the current faculty at the college is up to? Giving money to these Marxists is like feeding the dog that’s biting your hand and wants to destroy your house.
Bingo. That’s why refuting with logical arguments is futile. (Futile refuting… nice ring). Logan has the proper response.
Not a horse-racing fan, I take it. “On the outside” or “on the rail.” Even teachers unions aren’t stupid enough to head for the outside rail.
No, just careless and stupid, as usual. I’ll fix that. Thanks.
I disagree. Teachers unions are more than stupid enough to head for the outside rail. They’ll even tell you it’s a winning strategy and they’re lucky to be there.
Public school districts in many states have taxing authority and are therefor able to fund their own foolishness. Not so in my state. Schools are funded by a combination of state revenue (primarily operational costs) and county revenue (primarily capital costs). All this money has to be handled through the budgeting process controlled by the county legislative body. This gives the members of that body incentive to pay attention to what the school system is doing rather than fully abdicating responsibility to the school board. The power of the purse can contain a lot of woke foolishness.
