Chicago Makes Its Play To Be Named Capital City of ‘The Great Stupid’

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has asked for $70 million to care for illegal aliens after already spending upwards of $150 million to make sure defiant border-crossers know they are welcome. Or, as the late johnny Olden used to say on “The Price is Right,” “Come on Down!”

The budget committee voted 20-8 this week to advance the proposal to the full City Council. The money will come from a discretionary fund, because, apparently, there is no good use for it involving the citizens of Chicago. The idea is so irresponsible that even some Democrats are willing to say so. “Here we are begging for more money when we don’t have money for the people here!” said 9th Ward Alderman Anthony Beale. “When we don’t have money for after school programs. We don’t have money to help our kids get off the street. But yet, we would just blow money left and right.”

Ah, but the wise governor of Illinois has the rebuttal for those complaints. “This kind of partnership is the right way to go for the taxpayers. It’s the right way to go for doing what’s right for the new arrivals in Chicago,” said Land of Lincoln Governor JB Pritzker.

They aren’t “new arrivals,’ you pandering, lying, woke, unethical dummy. They are non-citizens who have deliberately broken our laws, and have absolutely no right or business to be here, much less use up precious city resources. Defaulting to “it’s right” is the same as “Shut up, he explained.” Why is it “right”? By what warped set of priorities is creating incentives with taxpayer-funded benefits for unvetted foreigners to break the law “right”? Has anyone who tried to answer that question sounded like anything other than a “Feelings” crooning idiot? (Jeb Bush: Illegal immigration is “an act of love.” Oh, good one, Jeb: that’s how the Corleones rationalized every crime they committed. No wonder Trump squashed you like a bug; you deserved it with that caliber of policy sophistication.)

In related “Great Stupid” news involving Illinois Chicago mayors, the Village of Dolton, Illinois voted this to hire Jackson’s predecessor, former walking, talking mayoral disaster Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot as a “Special Investigator” to investigate Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard at $400 an hour. What’s the theory here, “it takes one to know one”? They hired a terrible Chicago mayor to evaluate another mayor’s level of competence? Isn’t that like hiring the NASA team that worked on the Challenger to solve the airplane problem at Boeing? Of hiring Dan Rather to assess the ethics of MSNBC broadcasters?

  1. How dare the Alderman imply that the children of his ward are better than the plucky new arrivals who just want a better life? Sounds like racism to me!

  2. The Washington Examiner:

“A law firm representing Dolton warned the trustees that appointing Lightfoot may be beyond their scope of work. They said trustees “do not have the power to investigate, or to retain someone to investigate” and warned that Henyard would not approve payments to Lightfoot.”

I had assumed she’d been hired by Winston & Strawn or some such, but evidently not.

    • It is a pretty good racket. Refuse to pay for the investigation against you so that the investigation is not done. You can’t investigate me if you need me to OK the money for the investigation. Sort of like the ‘you can recall me if you need me to perform the election properly to recall me’ that they already did.

  3. Mark my words, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is simply establishing his bona fides to prepare himself for his next career move – undoubtedly, something on the national political stage.
