Searching For a Tipping Point…

This is probably too trivial an episode, but you never know. What might it take to cause a tunnel-visioned, propaganda-marinated, Trump-Deranged, ethically-stunted Democrat or progressive to slap himself, herself or whateverself briskly in the forehead and say, “What the hell? Why have I been supporting these people? They are corrupt and embarrassing!”

On April 17, our President informed a shocked nation that he thinks his uncle was eaten by cannibals. The purpose of his rambling discourse was, of course, the evilness of Donald Trump, as Biden repeated the now Axis-enshrined claim that as President, Trump refused to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France in 2018 because the U.S. soldiers buried there were “losers” and “suckers.”

Here’s what Biden said:

…and, when D-Day occurred, the next day, on Monday all four of my mother’s brothers went down and volunteered to join the military. And four of them — three of them made it. One was 4F- couldn’t go. And, uh… Ambrose Finnegan- we called him Uncle Bosie- he was shot down. He was Army Air Corps. Before there was an Air Force. He flew single-engine planes. Reconnaissance flights over New Guinea.  He volunteered if someone couldn’t make it. He got shot down in an area where there were a lot of cannibals. In New Guinea. At the time. They never recovered his body, but the government went back when I went down there and they checked and found parts of the plane and the like. And what I was thinking about when I was standing there was when Trump refused to go up to the memorial for veterans in Paris. And he said they were a bunch of suckers and losers. To me, that is such a disqualifying assertion made by a president. Suckers and losers. Guys who saved civilization in the 1940s. Suckers and losers. And I just wanted to go and- we have a tradition in our family that my grandfather started. When you visit a gravesite of a family member, it’s going to sound strange to you, but- you say three Hail Marys. That’s what I was doing at the site. My grand- my uncle, Ambrose Finnegan, Uncle- Uncle Bosie, was a hell of a guy from what I- I never met him, obviously. But I just wanted to see where he was memorialized.

(Did you know Donald Trump lies all the time?)

Biden leaks made-up tales like this—well, not about cannibals, but still—constantly, almost daily, and the news media ignores it just as constantly. No, Biden’s uncle was not eaten by cannibals. The Pentagon’s Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency states that “Bosie” died on May 14, 1944 on an Army plane that was forced to ditch in the Pacific Ocean off the northern coast of New Guinea. Both engines failed at low altitude “and the aircraft’s nose hit the water hard.” He was one of three men whose bodies were not recovered. The plane was not “shot down,” either.

Of course, if Trump had made this statement, there would have been at least two more entries in the Washington Post’s Trump lie database. Biden spouting nonsense, however, is just shrugged off as “Joe being Joe,” that is, a babbling idiot. Biden’s faux indignant re-telling of the “losers and suckers” trope is also disgusting, if anyone cares to examine it. As happened routinely during his administration because Trump had to trust untrustworthy people who were allied with his political foes, “anonymous sources” told some reporters that he had made those comments, and that was immediately scooped up and publicized as fact by the “Get Trump” news media. Only during the Trump years has a President’s version of an episode—he said that the cemetery visit was cancelled because of rain, and that he never impugned the Americans buried in the cemetery—would be considered decisively rebutted by an anonymous gossip-monger. Admittedly, Trump brought this on himself to a great extent with his documented insult to John McCain and prisoners of war during the 2016 campaign, but nonetheless, the Paris story is unsubstantiated, and here is the current President not only representing it as fact—you know, like the fact that his uncle was dinner in New Guinea—but using a disputed 2018 incident as an argument for continuing his own disastrous Presidency after the 2024 election.

The whole statement is a wreck, but only the cannibal part was bad enough that that factcheckers “pounced.” Even the reliably Democratic hacks at Snopes ruled the story as “false”. Amusingly, the even more biased and untrustworthy Politifact, the worst of the leftist factcheckers by far, couldn’t quite bring itself to say that, so its verdict was that it is “highly unlikely” that Biden’s uncle was eaten by cannibals. Politifact would probably say that it was just “unlikely” if Biden had said “Bosie” was eaten by a Spinosaurus, or Orson Welles.

With that long overly introduction, let’s go back to the exchange above between Fox News’ Peter Doocy and the Worst Presidential Paid Liar Ever, poor, dumb–but historic!—Karine Jean-Pierre. Note that only Doocy, being the sole reporter at the briefing who is not a card carrying member of the Axis of Unethical Conduct (“the resistance,” Democrats, and the MSM), was the only one with the integrity to ask the question all of them had to be wondering about. How refreshing it would be if a reporter from an outlet other than Fox News grilled Jean-Pierre on the daily evidence that Joe is microwaving with the door open! But no, of course not; letting the public know that Joe’s just a few more fizzled brain cells from losing tic-tac-toe to a summer squash might help elect Donald Trump, and we can’t allow that.

Just listen to Karine, though. The woman simply cannot think, or talk, and has no shame whatsoever. Her first answer literally ignored Doocy’s question, which was a reasonable one: why is the President of the United States talking about his relative being eaten by cannibals? Her second answer, after Doocy repeated the question, was pure gaslighting. She accused him of making a joke by mentioning Biden’s risible cannibal remark, as if Doocy made it up, not Biden. Then she shifted to blaming Trump, who is not responsible for either Biden’s delusions or the fate of “Bosie.”

What kind of mutants are these people? How can anyone support them, indeed, how can anyone not mock them mercilessly and do everything in their power to get them out of positions where their obvious corruption and stupidity threatens everyone? Karine accused Doocy of not being sufficiently serious. A President of the United States who is obviously unmoored to reality and common sense is serious—seriously frightening, and Doocy, alone among the press corps, was trying to inform the public about it.

OK, poor Karine has a tough job, but no more tough than that of Trump’s press secretary, or Clinton’s, or Carter’s, or Nixon’s. She just can’t do it. She destroys her credibility and Biden’s every day, because each time she does one of her incompetent doubletalk acts, the questions linger: Why was she hired? Why isn’t she fired after this kind of thing? Doesn’t the President care about competence and honesty at all? Is race and gender all that this administration cares about? How many other DEI hires who are complete boobs is Biden allowing to bumble away our money, security, rights, well-being and future? Why have I been supporting these people?

For the record, Doocy’s question should have been answered this way, and would have been, if Karine were not so unqualified for her job:

“Peter, I really don’t know why the President mentioned cannibals in connection with his heroic uncle’s death. Anyone who talks extemporaneously, as the President frequently does, will occasionally have their words come out wrong, and obviously this was an example of that. He was certainly not trying to deceive anyone. Next question?”

  1. I heard, but now cannot find the source, that Mr. Biden bragged that by his intervention he convincde Netenyahu NOT to attack HAIFA, a coastal city in Israel proper,

  2. All that Biden as saying is that as there were a lot of cannibals in New Guinea, so it is therefore a scary place to crash a plane. Nowhere does he say that his uncle was eaten by cannibals, so where do people get the idea that that is what he was saying?

    • SloJo, repeating the fable to the Steelworkers Union people:

“And he got shot down in New Guinea, and they never found the body because there used to be a lot of cannibals – for real – in that part of the New Guinea.”

        • The other version he told reporters that day, per the NY Post, is just slightly different, and would lead people with brain cells to the same conclusion:
He got shot down in an area where there were a lot of cannibals at the time. They never recovered his body, but the government went back when I went down there and they checked and found some parts of the plane,”

Note that it includes the additional fantasy about finding parts of the (unrecovered sunken) plane. You could probably safely bet the “I went down there…” bit isn’t true, either.

But wait, there’s more! That same article recounts an incident I hadn’t previously heard of…In 2022 Biden recounted a story about presenting, while vice president, a purple heart to another uncle at the request of his (Biden’s) father. There’s no record of the uncle earning the award, and best of all….both men had been dead for years before Joe was VP. Perhaps that one occured during one of his fugues when he speaks with the dead.

  3. There was another interesting retort from DEI-KJP, a bit in the vein of her boss’ style:

(Biden was) “…incredibly proud of his uncle’s service in uniform. You saw him at the war memorial. It was incredibly emotional and important to him…”

Biden was about 1-1/2 yrs old when his uncle died in 1944. He may never have even met the uncle, much less formed any emotional attachment to him.

  4. I thought this one was more aggravating.

Doocy: “Now that we know that the Iranians do not listen to President Biden’s public warnings, Is there any regret here about unfreezing billions of dollars for Iranian leaders during the President’s administration?”

WH’s John Kirby: “What unfreezing are you talking about?”

Doocy: “He unfroze billions of dollars —”

Kirby: “For — for Iranian leaders?”

    Doocy: “Yeah.”

Kirby: “Really? No, I don’t think so.”

  5. The tipping point is addressing their fear. If you want someone to leave the sinking ship, you need to offer them a lifeboat or a floatation device of some kind. Those are the things I’ve been building, because it’s a lot more productive than trying to get people to acknowledge their own ship is sinking just as much as the other person’s.
