Early Evening Ethics Cool-Off, 4/30/2024: Marxist Indoctrination Petard Hoist Edition

Hitler committed suicide on this date in 1945. Good. Maybe he would have stuck it out if he knew American college students, primed by a youth dominated by reckless indoctrination, would be trying to carry on his work in 2024 on American campuses. Meanwhile…

1. Déjà vu! The moment I lost all sympathy or respect for the students at my college demanding various things while taking over buildings and disrupting my education was when they added amnesty to their “demands.” The terrorist assholes at Columbia are doing the same thing now. Nobody should give serious consideration to the positions of such cowards. Writes David French, “When universities can actually recognize and enforce the distinctions among free speech, civil disobedience and lawlessness, they can protect both the right of students to protest and the rights of students to study and learn in peace.” And when I can fly to the moon by flapping my arms, I’ll save a fortune on gasoline. The vast majority of today’s college administrators—Haven’t female college presidents just covered themselves in glory lately? Another DEI triumph!—are the direct ideological descendants of those arrogant, unaccountable revolutionaries of yore.

These ignorant, terrorism-enabling jerks have good reason to assume there will be no consequences, since (I don’t know how or why) their cause is apparently justified lawlessness sanctified by the political Left, you know, like the George Floyd riots and Occupy Wall Street. When you break laws to demonstrate your frustration after a dodgy election, however, you end up like the J6 defendants, prosecuted and locked up. MSNBC’s Joy Reid—why is she on television?—compared the “Get rid of the Jews” protesters to the Civil Rights movement. Over at ABC’s “The View,” Sunny Hostin, the lawyer who thinks an eclipse is evidence of climate change, argued that critics who use “anti-Semitism” to describe the protests are “far-right” with “authoritarian leanings” who oppose free speech. “They don’t want students on these campuses to voice their opinions,” she said. Sunny, as anyone who has listened to her rantings know, would be calling for the executions of students chanting anti-black or anti-gay slogans, but “Kill the Jews” is good, old fashioned anti-war sentiment in her book. (Why is she on television?)

2. Stay Classy, Madison Avenue. Yesterday, I heard a radio ad for a plumber that had the tag line, “We give a poo about your pipes.” Nice. Meanwhile, male and female crotch odor nostrums are being advertised more aggressively than ever before. Grace would make me dive for the remote when this one came on…

Crotch commercials should not be “in your face.” I don’t consent to be assaulted like that.

3. IIPTDXTTNMIAFB! “Imagine if President Trump did X that the news media is accepting from Biden” again. The Daily Caller went back and checked: the White House communications staff corrected President Joe Biden’s public remarks at least 148 times since the beginning of 2024 according to a review of official White House transcripts. Sometimes the “correction” was the opposite of what Biden said. But, as my MSNBC-watching sister told me today (again), Donald Trump is a danger because you can’t believe anything he says.

4. Back to the pro-terrorists for a moment, I actually saw this interview live this morning:

5. Barely mentioned by the news media was Biden’s Dept. of Education releasing new Title IX regulations echoing Obama’s similar “Dear Colleague” letter encourages institutions of higher education to violate students’ free speech rights and to eliminate due process protections for students (men) accused of sexual misconduct. “Justice is only possible when hearings are fair for everyone,” said FIRE Legal Director Will Creeley in a statement. “Today’s regulations mean one thing: America’s college students are less likely to receive justice if they find themselves in a Title IX proceeding.” This is a pre-election “Believe all Women” pander…well, “Believe all women except the one who accused Biden of rape.” Lawyer Scott Greenfield on “Simple Justice” is appropriately and eloquently outraged (but I bet he voted for Biden, like most trial lawyers).

6. Finally, here’s the kind of thing I won’t listen to. Somebody sent me “25 Lies: Exposing Democrats’ Most Dangerous, Seductive, Damnable, Destructive Lies…” But before it got going, I learned that the interviewer was Armstrong Williams. Way back in 2005, the conservative black talk-show host had to confess that he was paid $240,000 by the the Bush II Department of Education to promote its initiatives on his syndicated television program and to other African-American journalists in the news media. Why is he still in this business?

  1. Hitler committed suicide on this date in 1945. Good. Maybe he would have stuck it out if he knew American college students, primed by a youth dominated by reckless indoctrination, would be trying to carry on his work in 2024 on American campuses.

“Students and educators, people often forget, were among the earliest and most eager supporters of Nazism. No group after the war (contextual note: World War I) suffered the opprobrium Jews did, and no institution was as contemptuous of Jews as the university campus. Watched over by sympathetic professors, fraternities not only banned Jews by introducing the ‘Aryan paragraph’ but denied Jewish fraternities ‘satisfaction’ by refusing to fight duels with their members or even to appear alongside their representatives in official university ceremonies. Shoes scuffed against the floor when Jews entered the lecture hall and passersby shoved Jewish-looking students in hallways. The German university was not a bastion of free or critical thought before or after 1933.”
    – “Hitler’s First Hundred Days: When Germans Embraced the Third Reich”, Peter Fritzsche.

I just started this book today and read the above.

    • Of course Hitler was popular among academics. I mean, a sensitive and passionate former artist type, who is a vegetarian, who cares deeply about environmental matters, and who wants to rid his country of Christianity and implement a neopagan religion to unite his people in a socialist utopia is ideal for the University crowd.

  2. I wish I had a list of all the conservative speakers these universities had denied entry for ‘safety’ reasons over the years. As they cling to ‘free speech’, they should be confronted by the fact that they allow ‘kill the Jews’ as free speech, but they won’t let Ben Shapiro on their campus…oh, never mind, that IS completely consistent. Maybe I should have gone with Jordan Peterson.
