Well, I Think This Definitively Answers Any Lingering Questions About the Competence and Critical Thinking Skills of the Nation’s Progressives…

A Morning Consult poll released this week reports that 34 % of Democratic voters found it either definitely or probably credible that Trump staged Saturday’s shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, and less than half, 45 %, agreed that the conspiracy theory is not credible at all.

Be proud, Democrats!

You can read here about various theories, reasons and comparisons regarding this idiocy: I really don’t care. I know idiots when I see them. This tells us that less than half of all registered Democrats have the critical thinking skills of the average meat loaf.

This is what the unconscionable hate and disinformation campaign by the Axis of Unethical Conduct has done to the Democrats’ own supporters. It has rendered fully a third of them, presumably the dumber third, functionally unable to comprehend the world around them, and as much as half too dumb to come in out of a hail storm. That lower third is the segment that wants Joe Biden to stay on top of the ticket, because to them, Joe seems brilliant.

It is no more credible that the assassination attempt was staged than it is that Trump is really a Lizard Man in disguise, or the second coming Katherine the Great. Maybe they should poll those, too. The reasons the near tragedy couldn’t have been staged are so numerous that they boggle the mind. I thought the Republican Party was supposed to be “The Stupid Party.” This conspiracy theory is more ridiculous than the Hillary and the Pizza Child Porn Ring theory. It’s more absurd than the Truther theories.

At a certain level of ignorance and deficient intellect, democracy really can’t work. We appear to be getting there. Fast.

  1. KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • 3 in 5 voters said American political rhetoric was responsible for the political environment that led to the attack, according to our survey conducted days after former President Donald Trump’s ear was grazed by a bullet in Pennsylvania. Notably, 38% of voters said Trump himself was to blame for the violent moment.
    • Over half of voters, including 53% of Biden supporters and 52% of Trump’s supporters, said they were “very concerned” about election-related violence this year, while roughly 2 in 5 said they were “somewhat concerned,” with little divide based on candidate support.
    • Roughly 1 in 5 voters said they find it credible that the shooting was staged and not intended to kill Trump, including a third of Biden’s supporters and 12% of those who back Trump. The majority of voters (62%) said the unsubstantiated notion is not credible.

I can accept that 60% said political rhetoric as responsible. The caveat to this is the “takeaway” does not identify whose rhetoric precipitated it. I have no doubt that the talking points of the Left could have pushed some wacko over the edge but not the other way around.

The last takeaway is confusing . If only 20% who believe it was staged and that was divided by 33% Biden supporters and 12% Trump supporters, who makes up the other 55% that believe it was staged? If you add the 62% who do not believe it was staged that adds to 107%. On the other hand if a third of Biden supporters believe it was staged how can it be only 1 in 5 believe it was staged. Finally if 20% believe it was staged and 62% believe it was not what do the other 18% think.

I am good with numbers but somethings don’t add up.

    • Yeah, I couldn’t reconcile the numbers either. Never mind: I’m stunned that anyone whose brain allows them to believe that was staged can breathe, eat, converse, or function in society at a rudimentary level.

    • You are looking at it the wrong way; the percentages are of the total. Let’s say there are 200 total people split evenly between Biden supporters and Trump supporters (100 each). 33 Biden supporters would think it’s staged and 12 Trump supporters think it’s staged. That gives a total of 45 out of the 200, which is 22.5% of everyone, or roughly 1 in 5.
