Does it matter? Are you kidding? Of course it matters! It matters a great deal. It also matters that the news media seems remarkably uninterested in determining the truth. This is because they can’t handle the truth, or rather are afraid that their letting the pubic know the truth will undermine “democracy.”
I know. It doesn’t make sense. But this is what the corruption of our institutions has done to the nation.
Sharp-eyed viewers, perhaps already inclined toward conspiracy theories after realizing that they have been lied to for three years about the President’s mental condition, claimed that the time displayed on Biden’s watch during the speech last night about his decision to abandon his re-election campaign (after telling George Stephanopolos that he would only quit if God himself ordered him to) was different from that time the “live” speech was broadcast.
This would be easy to settle if the White House didn’t lie routinely, and if the hack news media were diligent about exposing such cheats. Determining what is really happening, happened, or will happen with this administration, however, is well-nigh impossible, and our betters in power like it that way. Let’s see: what is the more likely explanation for the time discrepancy? We have…
1. Joe just had himself on New Zealand time, or something.
2. Joe’s battery just happened to die a couple of hours before teh speech, and he didn’t notice.
3. Evil MAGA agents manipulated the image…
4. The White House staff, Jill and Joe’s puppeteers, buffeted by calls for Biden to resign on the grounds that if he is too addled to run, he’s too addled to be President until next January, and terrified that another live TV meltdown would have them out on the street, arranged for the announced speech to be taped in advance, so any massive gaffes, pauses, or gibberish attacks could be edited out or otherwise avoided.
Huh. It’s Occam’s Razor time: which is the reasonable conclusion, especially in the context of the massive cover-up and deceptions already employed to pretend Biden isn’t what he is?
It seems like it’s #4, right? Althouse wrote, “What did you expect? Why would he do it live? Yes, we have questions about his competence, but it would have been incompetent to do this live.” I almost made that the Unethical Quote of the Week. “Why would he do it live”? Oh, I don’t know, maybe because Biden said he would be speaking live and because it was presented as a live speech?
Are we supposed to just shrug off a lie like that? It’s cheating. It’s also signature significance: if Biden lackeys will do this (and if he’ll let them), what won’t they lie about, fake or manipulate?
The fact that whoever engineered this deception (if that’s what it was) didn’t think to change the watch also tells us that the people manipulating our poor, demented President and using him as their puppet aren’t much more alert and competent than he is. The misaligned watch hands have trapped more murderers in novels, movies and TV shows than anything other than DNA and fingerprints. Haven’t these bozos watched “Columbo”? Morons.
When I staged “Twelve Angry Men” in the round, with audiences virtually looking over the shoulders of the jury, I realized that the show was in real time, so the onstage clock that is referred to frequently in the script had to match the watches all the actors wore. Not only did the watches have to be period time pieces (mid-1950s), they also had to be synchronized with the clock and the script. Before every performance, I held a mass watch-setting, and checked every watch myself.
And I was just a small professional theater director, not one of the brilliant, empowered progressives whose intelligence and judgment is so superior to ours.
How much more evidence does there have to be to make a critical mass of citizens realize how unethical this White House and the party is, how they will go to any lengths, try any scheme, launch any lies to hold onto power? They don’t even think they have to be careful about it. This is total contempt: “Oh, so the watch doesn’t match; nobody will notice, and even if they do, they’ll forget about it after a few beers and an episode of “American Ninja Warrior.”

But this kind of claim only gains currency because of the astounding torrent of lies, deceptions and gaslighting we have witnessed and are still witnessing from this administration. So this time, it wasn’t a cheat. We still have to assume we are being lied to, because it has happened so often.
I don’t want to seem like a broken record (A what???), but I’ll repeat the line that ended this post: To allow your government and its institutions (like the parties) to treat you like a moron without objection is just one short step from slavery.

I just downloaded the video and zoomed in on his watch and it had 8:08. I used two sources.

Had 2 links in a comment so it’s in moderation. I used two video sources that I downloaded and zoomed in on the watch about five and a half minutes into the video and could see his watch was at 8:07 or 8:08.
Already caught that and revised the piece!
It’s a shame we’re at a point where everything has to be checked; reliable sources are few and far between. It’s getting more difficult to get accurate facts about almost any event.
My wife gets perturbed with me when I ask for the source and then question it. Like the report that Zelenski bought his wife a 4.5 M Bugatti. That particular Bugatti they used in the pictures isn’t scheduled for production for 2 years. And what would his wife do with that type of car anyway.
My main issue was Althouse’s question: why wouldn’t they tape it?

But her commentariat is reliably reasonable and solid and they call her on her flakiness from time to time. It’s almost as if there’s a ditz gene that can switch from recessive to dominant and back again from time to time. I wonder what she was like in class.
So, ok, I looked at the video and saw that his watch did have the correct time.
I’ve a quibble with both pictures, though. The second picture has been cropped out and rotated, so that you’re looking at the watch over Biden’s shoulder. I saw at least one frame in the video where you can look at the actual watch on his actual wrist and see that the time is 8:05 — but you’re looking at the watch upside, which is what you’d expect.
The first picture is fuzzier and it is also cropped and presented by itself. The time there is either 6:08 or 12:08, too blurred to be sure.
My point is that both pictures are cropped, so it is really impossible to tell for sure if either is correct or both are faked. If I could see it from the video, there is no reason people couldn’t present a whole picture.
The fact that we have no trouble believing they could have faked a live broadcast tells us all we need to know about the Biden regime and its enablers.
I find it odd he became ill, needing emergency care in Las Vegas, then recovered so quickly, and enough to go on National T.V. within what, a week’s time or less than a week after the emergency in Las Vegas.
We’re looking at at least another six months of “odd” on a nearly daily basis. And if Harris wins, buckle up, we’ll be in for four more years of absolutely bizarre obfuscation and spin.
