The Ethics Mission, If You Choose To Accept It: Don’t Let The News Media Deceive The Public About Kamala Harris

I don’t think the Citizen Free Press is being dishonest or misleading in its characterization of the compilation above. Kamala Harris has, many times, expressed her support for basic Marxism, as indeed the “equity” component of the Left’s current obsession (and cover-phrase for “good” racial and gender discrimination) is a Marxist buzzword. Harris’s assertion that fairness demands that “everybody ends up in the same place” is both alien to American values and Communism exemplified (or what Communists claim to seek, snce the real goals of political leaders under Communism is to dominate and dictate to the public).

That’s a valuable set of clips for many reasons, prime among them is that it shows who and what Harris is just as the news media—the Enemy of the People, as Donald Trump correctly said in one of his most perceptive moments—is trying mightily to re-introduce Harris to the public as something she isn’t. Many things, in fact. Moderate. Competent. Trustworthy. Genuine. “Exciting.” Likable. Honest. Smart. Harris is none of these things.

In the one of the clips above, Harris actually says that equality means “everyone should get the same thing.” That’s NOT what equality means; it has especially doesn’t mean that in this country. Equality means that everyone has the same rights under the law, among them the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It does not mean that everyone has some right to “get” the same thing regardless of their ability, talent, willingness to take risks, work ethic, determination, diligence, virtue and skill. Kamala Harris is either ignorant, not very bright, confused, or lying: personally, I think she’s all four, which makes her smug demeanor while spouting this garbage particularly infuriating.

The Green New Deal, which Harris (and many Democrats in Congress and elsewhere) embrace, includes the goal of guaranteeing “economic security to all who are unable or unwilling to work.” The aspiring totalitarian Left started denying this feature of the GND as soon as it triggered the predictable critical response. Their campaign of denial anticipated the current gaslighting over whether Harris was Biden’s “Border Czar,” which of course she was, and the news media happily called her that before it decided that her utter failure in the role required furious airbrushing.

The more radical Democrats have historically flirted with Communism and are attracted to socialism, a modicum of which can be and has been salutary in minimizing the inherent brutality of capitalism (and life). But socialism is like a bag of really good potato chips (I like the Utz Brown Russet variety): once you dive in, it’s hard to know when to stop.

President Roosevelt, who at heart, like Eleanor, was a socialist and an aspiring totalitarian himself, famously advocated “freedom from want,” which is about as Communist (and impossible) as one can get. He and Eleanor soft-pedaled this aspect of their philosophy and aspirations when they weren’t giving speeches to useful idiots—I admire both of them and regard them as great Americans, but that doesn’t mean I have to whitewash what they were—but this virulent strain of anti-Americanism remains active in their party.

Thus the mainstream media has to pretend it isn’t there. The majority of Americans still don’t like Communism and have the sense not to trust politicians who advocate its principles—so now, since the vast, vast majority of the media is no longer practicing ethical journalism or even journalism at all but rather propaganda distribution, it has resolved to try to deceive the public about Kamala Harris.

Well, that’s unethical. Duh. It’s also unethical to let them do it.

The media will try to rig this election the way they tried to rig the last (let’s see now) five at least by suppressing negative news about the Democratic candidate and prioritizing negative news and commentary about the Republican. Each of the five elections has seen this Orwellian process intensify; we are now at the point where it is literally impossible for the casual citizen to figure out what and who they are voting for.

The disguising of Kamala Harris, “selected not elected” and a candidate chosen by her party Soviet-style with almost no democratic principles in evidence, is the most sinister advance in this process yet, though the news media being complicit with Democrats in pretending that Joe Biden wasn’t losing his metaphorical marbles was almost as bad.

It isn’t only Harris’s fondness for Communism that the media has to try to hide. As I’ve noted more than once, she’s an incorrigible race-baiter and an anti-white racist. She lies at least as routinely as Trump, aided by her weasel-like and often impenetrable rhetoric, as when she endorsed defunding the police without specifically saying “defund the police.” She’s demonstrably incompetent (as I will elaborate on later today). She supports Hamas and the ruination of Israel whether she comprehends that or not. Harris advocates extreme climate change policies without having a clue about the complexities of the phenomenon. She has advocated excising terms like “illegal immigrant” from the language: like all totalitarians, she believes in shackling language so opposing ideas cannot be expressed. She has said ridiculous things like this…and like these. She is virtually four-square with the ideology of The Squad.

And it cannot be emphasized too strongly that she just isn’t very intelligent, and yet believes she is the proverbial “smartest one in the room.” If I am mistaken, then she needs to take some communications training quickly, because she has one of the most insufferably arrogant and smug speaking styles I have ever seen.

Over at Instapundit, Charles Galsser issued this “call to arms” regarding Harris:

A CALL TO ARMS: HELP PLUG THE MEMORY HOLE–NOW! We’ve already seen a heinously dishonest media play the Orwell card and start airbrushing Kamala Harris’ dismal record of incompetence and bad judgment, here, here and here, just for starters.

There is only one way citizen-readers (yes, that’s you, gentle reader) can help: Find the insane statements and bad policy decisions she’s made and amplify their undeniability as best you can on social media and comments on news sites.

One story I came across — and surely a target to Team Coconut to flush away — is a 2019 article from The Intercept, where Harris was accused of protecting sexual abusers from allowing access to investigative files in order to pursue their cases:

In her seven years as district attorney, Harris’s office did not proactively assist in civil cases against clergy sex abuse and ignored requests by activists and survivors to access the cache of investigative files that could have helped them secure justice, according to several victims of clergy sex abuse living in California who spoke to The Intercept.

“It went from Terence Hallinan going hundred miles an hour, full speed ahead, after the Catholic Church to Kamala Harris doing absolutely nothing and taking it backwards hundred miles an hour,” said Joey Piscitelli, a sexual assault survivor, who a jury found had been molested as a student while attending Salesian College Preparatory, a Catholic high school in Richmond, California.

Particularly noteworthy is the fact that the Kool-Aid drinkers now pimping Harris out as some kind of bright, self-actualized, intelligent woman — she’s not — can’t dismiss this kind of factual reporting as “right-wing conspiracy.” I mean, FFS, it’s The Intercept.

I implore you: Make them own it.

I can only second Glasser’s exhortation. Ethics Alarms will do its part. Look: if anyone wants to vote for Harris because Trump disgusts them or they really want someone like her, who became a candidate the way she did as a DEI VP elevated to the first slot on a Presidential ticket after the primaries when the Democrats realized they couldn’t prop up Joe Biden any more and get away with it, or because they were raised to always vote for whoever has a (D) next to their name even if it’s Vlad the Impaler, fine. That’s their right. But no one should vote for Harris, or anyone, after being deceived and misled about who they are voting for.

(In the same spirit, I can respect anyone voting against Donald Trump because they want open borders, mandatory electric cars and ruling political party that wants to criminalize politics, or because of his myriad character flaws. If they are voting Blue because Trump “caused an insurrection” or said there would be a “bloodbath” if he lost, that’s intolerable.)

For me, this is an ethics issue, not a political one, but I feel strongly about it. Last night I decided to start posting all of the Ethics Alarms posts related to the election on my Twitter/X feed, which I have been neglecting: I’ll also be paying for a blue check soon. Ethics Alarms has also up-ticked in traffic lately. I’m not deluded into thinking that I have much influence, but I am determined to do what I can. I am more concerned about the plague of unethical journalism allied with a political party than I am about Harris, frankly.

This mission is firmly on the side of facts, truth, reality, and a properly functioning democracy. If voters elect Harris President knowing what they are supporting, I can accept that. They won’t, of course.

It is everyone’s duty to ensure that we have an informed electorate, as much as the forces of totalitarianism try to foil that goal.

  1. Thank you, Jack. I’ve been planning to do what I can in my small circle of influence as well. As you said, it is less about Kamala and more about the brainwashing of the public at large by the vast array of institutions, including journalism, now controlled by the left.

  2. “President Roosevelt, who at heart, like Eleanor, was a socialist and an aspiring totalitarian himself, famously advocated “freedom from want,” which is about as Communist (and impossible) as one can get. He and Eleanor soft-pedaled this aspect of their philosophy and aspirations when they weren’t giving speeches to useful idiots—I admire both of them and regard them as great Americans, but that doesn’t mean I have to whitewash what they were—but this virulent strain of anti-Americanism remains active in their party.”

I just finished a book on FDR’s rhetoric called “Something to Fear: FDR and the Foundations of American Insecurity, 1912-1945” which covered how Roosevelt’s broad interpretation of the concept of National Security caused a shift in how Americans perceived their sense of security in the world as a whole. Nearly 80 years later, Presidents still use FDR-style imagery to make us feel more insecure.

    • Bingo. FDR was such a unique, scary, vital, confounding figure. He was just what the US needed when it needed him, but was so wrong and dangerous in so many ways—his antisemitism, his tendencies to dictatorship, his dishonesty, his ruthlessness.

      • So remarkable how so many generationally wealthy people become Communist sympathizers. I think they (as does Harris, smugly, of course) assume one, they will be in charge, and two, no money or other nice things they have will be taken from them to be given to others to even things out.

        • That’s because totalitarian regimes – and real-world Communism is totalitarian- still have a ruling class. It’s just not the Capitalist class. The Soviet leaders didn’t have to stand in food lines, had a wide and varied diet, had private dachas and didn’t have to bribe doctors.

But, then, isn’t that what they deserved for being more intelligent, more worthy, more ideologically pure than the proletariat?

          • “But, then, isn’t that what they deserved for being more intelligent, more worthy, more ideologically pure than the proletariat?”

Yes, and that’s why the Obamas have houses on Martha’s Vineyard and Hawaii and their kids go to the best schools and will never have to work a day in their lives. Just like the Clintons and their child. Besides, they could have gone to work at Goldman Sachs, but they sacrificed and went into public service instead!

(That last one is my favorite.)

  3. Trump has already mentioned she flunked the (I assume California) bar exam. She also graduated from a historically black college and was enrolled in some DEI law school program. Is it ethical to use these things in the campaign? Or maybe there are better ways to demonstrate what a nitwit she is. But should we be firing with both barrels? The New York and California bar exams are notoriously difficult to pass the first time. Those bars are not too keen on having more licensees in their state.

  4. There are two effective ways to get the truth out about Harris.

#1. For Trump to grow up verbally – quit name-calling and belittling individuals. Focus logically and clearly on how his administration will specifically fix so many issues dragging this country into third-world status.

#2 Do NOT talk about Biden or Harris – talk about Dem policies, and use verified, UNEDITED videos of Harris stating her ideas and plans. Let her own words sink her. But DO NOT cut quotes at critical points like Dems did to Trump (i.e. stopping the video at “good people on both sides” etc. Be honest. One doesn’t have to twist or manipulate her words – she does that quite well on her own.

Trump gave me hope he would be presidential during the convention (aside from his usual rambling) but quickly went back to his schoolyard bully persona once back on the campaign trail. He alone can blow this chance to put the country back on a sane course.

    • I definitely recommend 2. Helping people talk about policies rather than politicians is the point of the Values Reconciliation workshop I’m developing. Since we can’t rely on politicians to design and promote constructive policies, we need to learn how to do it ourselves. When we know how to do the real work of democracy, politicians won’t be able to manipulate voters through fear.

  5. My simplified appraoch is

    1. Personally assume that anybody who identifies as a democrat is lying whenever they are speaking.

    2. Tell people that D stands for deception and deceiving

    3. Remind people that those who advocate against the rich are themselves rich, thus the goals of their espoused policies are merely an obstruction for anyone else to achieve “richness”.

    4. Ask anyone who buys into their schemes why their homes are not open to illegal immigrants, why they are driving gas powered cars today, why they run their AC’s in the summer, the lsit goes on.

    5. I tell the tale that just last week I was in San Deigo attending a conference. During a break while sitting on a bench in the marina arrived in his electric vehicle an boarded his yacht which was so big it had a helicopter on its deck.

    6. Hypocrisy and Deception is the message of any one with a Harris bumber sticker on their cars.
