Meta Platforms CEO and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told Congress this week that the Biden administration “repeatedly pressured” his company in 2021 to censor content related to the Wuhan virus, including posts by mere mortal Americans.
In response to questions from the House Judiciary Committee, Zuckerberg confirmed that the Biden administration tried to censor his social media company and therefore probably the others as well.
“There’s a lot of talk right now, about how the U.S. government interacts with companies like Meta, and I want to be clear about our position,” Zuckerberg said in a letter to the committee. “Our platforms are for everyone — we’re about promoting speech and helping people connect in a safe and secure way.”
The Biden administration pressured his team for months in 2021, he said, to censor pandemic-related content, even jokes and satire. And Big Brother “expressed a lot of frustration with our team when we didn’t agree.”
You know what happens when you frustrate Big Brother, don’t you? “Nice little business you have here…”
“I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it,” Zuckerberg admitted. “I also think we made some choices that, with the benefit of hindsight and new information, we wouldn’t make today.”
And what a surprise! The Facebook founder confirmed that Facebook demoted the Hunter Biden laptop story after the Deep State FBI suggested that it was part of a potential Russian disinformation operation!
“It’s been since made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we should not have demoted the story,” Zuckerberg confessed.
But Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was “rigged” is baseless, right?
The current Democratic Party and its allies believe in censorship, hiding facts that threaten its hold on power, and controlling the flow of information by any means necessary. Why doesn’t that concern progressives and registered Democrats as much as it does any other American who believes in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence?

As long as you believe that your political adversaries are doing so much worse, any amount of shenanigans by your party can be rationalized as the lesser of two evils, and you’ll keep voting for them.
I have yet to figure out what policies Trump advocates that makes him a threat to democracy or an authoritarian.
Authoritarians don’t reduce government regulations.
Authoritarians usually try to build empires by invading others.
Promoting the idea that voters should prove eligibility prevents suppression of legitimate votes by eliminating potential disqualifying issues of mail in ballots or suppression of legitimate votes by illegitimate votes.
Sending the issue of abortion back to the states promotes democracy at the local level which preserves the will of the people at the state level.
The original charge of racism or Islamophobia is not justified because Trump never banned an entire racial or ethnic category from entry or the ability to immigrate.
Not automatically accepting the demands of the LGBTQXYZ community makes him no more homophobic than saying no to any other group.
Objecting to lewd public displays to showcase some fetishist lifestyle is no more homophobic than objecting to a public display of lewd kinky heterosexual proclivities is heterophobic
Objections to trans women’s demands to compete against biological females are rooted in the belief that biological females need their own competitive space to excel. Otherwise they could simply try out for and compete on male teams
Conversely:
Authoritarians like big government and expansive regulatory authorities.
Authoritarians demand to control the information the public is entitled to consume.
Authoritarians make rules to jail those who violate acceptable speech codes.
Authoritarians lie about substantive issues.
Authoritarians use military and police powers to exert political control over over its own citizens and those of other countries.
As Mao said power comes from the barrel of a gun.
The Trump Deranged essentially beg the question. They label him a tyrant / authoritarian / fascist then find a definition that they can shoehorn their Big Lies into. The average uninformed citizen thinks he is because they are told he is.

Yeah, he’s said this before, and if you look, you’ll find an EA post where I explained how wrong and stupid that statement is.
Better late than never I suppose but if Zuck has any desire for credibility around the subject of censorship, he’ll have to do more than tell the truth and feign regret after the fact. If he finds himself lost, confused, or afraid about this, he has a contemporary role model in Elon Musk.
Zuck is a weenie. Always has been, always will be. No spine at all. Musk can be a role model for Zuck like a Killer Whale can be a role model for a guppy.
Zuckerberg is actually smart to do this. He is saying, “We’re sorry, we’ll try to do better.” Pure deflection and dissimulation. If he is admitting this now, imagine how truly infuriating the truth is. He says the Biden Administration (and the 2020 campaign, really) pressured Facebook to censor posts, tagging them as disinformation. I suspect he and his team met with them, asking how Facebook could help the Administration.

This is how to confront censorship at the grassroots level. We the people aren’t impotent at all. The other side, the fascists wokesters, are just more motivated and implanted at this point but they will positively wither if enough angry citizens challenge them and then gradually vote them out. Regarding the Wuhan virus, Lefties will simply say, “Covid was killing people. The censorship was justified.”
Regarding Hunter’s lap dancer, laptop, lefties will simply say, “But Trump!” And then maybe throw in a “But it worked!”
The following is from a Daily Mail article about a guy who was planning to assassinate Trump. It’s the most disheartening thing I’ve ever seen. People really do believe what the Dems tell them to believe:
