Our Objective News Media: ‘Trump May Have Caused His Own Assassination Attempt’

Nah, there’s no mainstream media bias!

That was USA Today’s reporting of the Trump assassination attempt yesterday. (I haven’t checked to see if it has been changed.)

The sub-head is a non-sequitur unless the reader is supposed to conclude that there is a causal connection between Trump’s Truth Social post, Vance’s provocative comments on Sunday Morning TV, and the later assassination attempt.

There is no defending such blatant partisan hackery from a news source. The fact that this nonsense could make it to the USA Today site without a sane professional putting a stop to it is damning. Are we supposed to conclude that the shooter was an offended Taylor Swift fan? USA Today might as well have written, “The incident occurred that same day that Trump had hush puppies for breakfast.”

Again, this is how you try rig an election, at least if you’re aiming at the moron vote—which is, sadly, considerable.

  1. When you believe your enemy (not political competitor, but enemy) is actually Adolf Hitler re-incarnated, then yes, you actually think he deserves what’s coming to him.

The progressive media saying “Trump caused this” is actually them quietly saying they hope the next assassin is successful because Trump deserves it.

    • When you believe your enemy (not political competitor, but enemy) is actually Adolf Hitler re-incarnated, then yes, you actually think he deserves what’s coming to him.

…I wonder what will happen when larger swaths of the public start believing that journalists are Joseph Goebbels re-incarnated…

  2. This had to happen. Eventually it was going to occur to the Democrats to say that an assassination attempt was a false flag operation. They learned that lesson from Poland.

  3. I wouldn’t bet on them giving any thought to the subheading beyond their (maybe now subconscious) drive to remind everyone that “Trump Bad!”. A less likely option might be they’re so steeped in the left’s cant that “speech is violence”, that they assume others also think the would-be shooter’s attempt would be a justified and righteous response.

  4. Can you imagine the frothing outrage directed against Republicans if there was one, never mind two, count ’em, TWO attempts on Harris’s life?

  5. Oh, well, if Trump wrote “I hate Taylor Swift,” he absolutely deserves to be assassinated. Now excuse me, I have to liberate my tongue from my cheek.

Well, we’ve all bemoaned the absurdity of modern political discourse, and nobody paying attention would be surprised that some leftist news organization (but I repeat myself) would blame Trump for the attempts on his life.

After all, if you listen to many on the Left, Trump is to blame for … well, everything that they don’t like. So why not blame him for creating his own assassins?

After all, Kamala Harris accused Trump of going easy on the Chinese over COVID-19, and the news media just yawned.

  6. Will they try again? I think it’s likely because they truly fear Harris will lose, and the loss of power to them is unthinkable. So far, Trump got lucky, but what was it the IRA once said to Margaret Thatcher after a failed bombing? Something to the effect: You can get lucky many times, while we only need to get lucky once.

    • I find it more than a bit disturbing that more Democrats and progressives, being good Americans and all, aren’t more troubled by this than they appear to be. First their party demonizes the other one, then it uses the legal system to try to imprison him, then there are two assassination attempts. Obviously, this is unprecedented. How can they tolerate that?
